- Having defaulted on two scheduled compensation payments to former white farmers whose lands were repossessed, Zimbabwe's government is now offering 10-year bonds to pay the bill. Compensation of white farmers is one of the critical pillars of Zimbabwe's debt clearance strategy, which will help it regain access to international credit.

When Zimbabwe drove these white farmers out of the country, a friend of mine, a white Zimbabwe who then was doing his undergraduate degree in Thailand bought his family to live with him there. After some time his parents decided to try farming in Thailand, and since rice farming is reserved for Thai people only, they settled on planting cassava and maize instead. They were given bank loans at competitive rates and even helped by a local politician in acquiring a piece of land, machineries and workers
Fast forward 20 years they have large corn and cassava fields, employing hundreds of people and the cassava were exported to neighboring countries whilst the maize is used to feed Thailand's booming poultry industry and helped a bit in reducing its dependency on imported poultry feed. They even taught farming skills not only to other Thai farmers but also farmers from Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. My friend worked a bit in banking industry before quitting to help his parents.
If one white Zimbabwe family could make such an impact imagine what hundreds of families could do and how much did Zimbabwe lose out when these white farmers went on and settled in Zambia, Kenya, even as far a Thailand, Malaysia and Australia
That's great as a black American i will take a note of this I'm looking forward to farming in Zimbabwe and Ghana you don't need white people for this.

@@flowrepins6663 you seem incredibly interested in what my future holds so let me flow, #1 Zimbabwe farming industry is booming since the land reform was induced #2 the chicken farming has and beef production became a way for African students to balance school bills and home expenses it's not hard to find this proof there are videos on UA-cam. #3 you probably won't ever know what or where I'm going because you don't align with my sun ☀️ what a great thing for me. The thing is it's time for African people to succeed on African soil this is why kicking the European out has been a growing claim around Africa, I doubt Africans are losing out, equal rights and business ownership should be in the hands of the people who are indigenous.

Zimbabwe fukked up big time. A so-called educated country couldn't find a compromise to suit both parties. For example a 50/50 sharing of profits from commercial farming along the lines of the South African BEE program or diamond mining. Taxation of white commercial farming, with proceeds going to War Veterans. Both parties failed to use their heads to find a compromise due to arrogance and stubbornness. Mugabe cannot be blamed because Rhodesians were given a 20 year grace period to sell their land in the Lancaster House willing buyer willing seller agreement. The British also reneged on their promise to fund land redistribution in Zimbabwe. Racism blinds people so they are not capable of thinking. Humility is important especially when a land revolution is nearby. You have to reset your colonial mindset and accept the winds of change.
No, you accept common sense. Ian Smith actually warned people that this would happen. If the land were given to competant farmers then you may have a point. But the fact is that the white farmer's land was stolen by mugabe and given to his ZANU-PF cronies and their friends who knew nothing about farming. Why should the white farmers have to have their land stolen just because they are white? If your best economy driver is mostly white, you keep it running and provide education on agriculture to black wannbe farmer and give them a chance so that the demographics will gradually shift.
But personally, money is colour-blind, it doesn't matter what colour you are if you are good at you job. The problem is Mugabe made it a race issue and no wonder Rhodesia is going down the tubes to the point where the ZANU-PF administration is begging the white farmers they robbed to come back.

Zimbabwean were fed by white farmers and when they tried to take over white farmers land, they did nothing with it! Because those Zimbabwean elites has no idea how to operate those land and just left it to rot which later on cause the whole nation food shortage and famine. It should be in your best interest that the white farmers are to be paid first if you want to be fed.

Anyone with those conditions would be a successful farmer. If black farmers today had those same conditions they would succeed and the economy would do well.
