Thanks! If you can't find any buckets on ebay or craigslist try car-part.com. You put in the year/make/model and the part you're looking for and it will show all the local and national scrap yards that have those parts along with condition.
Project FD have you had good luck with Car-part? Hoping to do this swap and having a difficult time sourcing the console on eBay. Never purchased through car-part and was just curious your thoughts.
Similar to ebay, your mileage may vary since using the part search yeilds all different scrap yards, some good some bad. I belive they have reviews on the shops so you can make an educated decision on who to buy from.
Thank you for the video. I just picked up a center console for my 2016 XL from a 2016 XLT wreck, thanks to the video I knew exactly what to ask for including the AC connectors. Installed yesterday and everything went great, dremel of the plastic plugs was actually pretty easy just a little awkward getting in there.
Thanks for the video FD. My truck finally arrived. 18 f150 Single cab 4x4 short box. The console arrived b4 the truck did. It's out of a 16 f150 stx crew from a wrecking yard. No console is available for the single cabs. I haven't tackled the project yet because like you i'm doing the katzkin swap as well. After watching ur video a few times i'm far less intimidated lol. Glad we could help. There may be more info out there now that the trucks have been out for awhile. We sold this truck awhile ago but were in the same state. My guess would be that there is something in the BCM that drives that harness that needs to be turned on via FORSCAN The people that have chimed in with a 'specific harness' number are just calling out the same harness that's already in the truck/is hooked up in the video.
Awesome informational video covering all aspects of the installation. I have a 2018 f 150 xl stx with the same console you just installed. My friend bought a f 250 deisel and his has a sliding front console cup hold. Great video - QUESTION - Where can I purchase a center console? I have a 2020 F250 with the jump seat option and I really dislike it ... the dealer wants about $2K for one out of the box. Any ideas would be appreciated!
I'm going thru the reverse of this with a 2021 F250. Problem for me is finding the part numbers for the lower console wiring for the USB plug-in and the 12v outlet as well as the 12v hook up for the back of the jump seat 12v outlet. I'm considering just pulling the wiring harness from the console itself and using that. Also I'd have to figure out the ducting that's under your carpet that connects to the under seat ducts. All that air that gets blown thru the console (when it's there) is just blowing on feet.
Great video! I'm totally going to do this. Thank you for doing this!!!!!Reference your leather seats, I looked up on Katzkin and I am wondering if I should order the 5 seats (Since I currently have the front middle seat/console) or the 4 seats with the 2 bucket seats since I plan on doing this same mod.Did you order the bucket seats?

Only video I have found concerning this. Hopefully, you will get this question before I pull the trigger. I am doing the complete reverse of this. I have a 2017 350 DRW Lariat and have 4 kids so I need to rip out my console and install a jump seat. Here is what I think I know. I don't need the brackets, I'm just going to buy a jump seat take-off from Ebay (gray seems to be the only color but my seats are tan), I need a few dash parts for sync, bottom which you took off, the right/left vent pieces, and somehow plug my air vent that is feeding my existing console. Can you give me any pointers? Do you know the part numbers of the pieces you removed as that's the ones I need to order?
I just installed my console. I bought all brand new Ford parts and it was well pretty expensive. Also, because I have a 2DR, I do not have the proper harness on the floor like you did to make any of the rear electronics work, but its OK, I have 6 cup holders now, and while I did lose (at least for now) one of the 12V power ports, I still have one for the passenger, one 400W outlet, and the two USBs. Getting the assembled console into the Regular cab was a bit of an effort though.
What did you do for the trailer brake control slot? Is there a better part number to use? One from an F250. Looks like the correct part number should be HC3Z-2504339-DA
I didn't have a trailer brake control so the slot is empty atm. Last time I checked there were no F250 part numbers out there, but that could be different now.
Man I am not looking forward to running the A/C ducting. What a pain in the ass. My dremel quit working too, so now I have to go buy another one. Hooray.
Hi Eathan, i'm confused on your part numbers for the console. I have the black side trim (ebony it says on the tag) but it's FL3B not FL3Z, with the rest of the numbers the same. The piece where the shifter goes through and cup holders is also FL3B and it is tarnished dk anodized. part # FL3B-15045K14A. Outer drivers vent panel is FL3B-15044879FBD1 but it's black with no chrome. Yeah, maybe because it was for export to Canada or do you think maybe the Z should be a B. I could use the source of your part numbers if you have. My ford parts guy was of no help at all. Thank Eathan
Hi, so I am planning on purchasing a 2019 platinum f350 w/ console. If I use a 2017+ super duty jumpseat, would it eliminate the problem of the cubby hole not matching? And would I have to do any drilling into the frame to mount the jumpseat? Thanks!
Do your dual usb plugs work when you plug your phone in to charge or anything? Did the same swap and neither usb functions. Hate to take the whole thing back out to plug in the single usb again
Pretty good job. It's really amazing how Ford intentionally makes thinks so they are not interchangeable seems that goes against keeping costs down. I tried swapping the license plates lamps and housing from a '17 F250 into a '17 F150 and they don't fit.
Any idea what would be needed to convert to a floor shift? My new 2019 F250 Lariat will have the console when it arrives, but I am pretty partial to the floor shifter in the F150's . . .
Check the F-150/250 forums. I've seen people mention trying but haven't seen anyone finish the swap. It seemed like an ordeal as the column shifter needs to be dissembled and the body harness extended to the console, a hole needs to be made in the floor (which should be there since 2017+ cabs are F150s) and I think the linkage on the trans needs to be changed to accept the cable from the floor shifter. Good luck!

Yes, but it will need to be reprogrammed to the truck's VIN I believe. There are a few vendors out there that will source the radio/reprogram for you or just reprogram if you source your own unit.
I want to do this to my truck but the AC thing scares me a little bit. Could you explain how you Put it in, like securely put it in. Did you snap it or did you bolt it?
You talking about the downturn piece? at 19:00 I show it bolted in after dremeling the needed holes and used two small self-tapping plastic screws to secure the piece.
I did it in my 2015 F350. I had to remove the shifter, take it to a machine sho and have them cut and straighten it, then I cut the Map pocket and installed it through the hole. In short, it was.a massive pain in the ass and it was expensive to buy all the parts and Ughhh. This time I bought electronic 4WD just for that reason.
Peter Beertema not yet, the console has no power yet the body connector I confirmed all the fuses are present. My guess is since I deleted the console shifter maybe a shared 12v or ground circuit is broke. I'll repin the harness and post up my findings.
I’m looking into getting a 2018 superduty, and I want the bench seat, but I can’t find a truck near me that has the bench seat and everything else I want. So I’m looking into maybe getting one with a console and swapping it to the bench. I’m looking at getting a lariat with black leather inside. Do you think it’s worth it?
Terron McLean I sourced the console through lkq then the new oem stuff through TASCA. The console is worth a decent amouny so I'm sure you'd be able to find either someone to swap with or sell your parts later on.
Somebody with an XL will probably swap you straight over. There are XLT's with the bench (really a jump seat). I wanted the bench, but ended up with the console because I prefer cloth, not leather, and the XLT I found was loaded (cameras, power everything, etc). After watching this video I'm keeping the console! I'll figger a way to put ham radio in around it somehow.
Do you have to swap the ac vents out or can you use the originals? I found a console that is all black looks like it has everything on it I would just need the piece that deletes the floor shifter. But I would rather just use my original vents if I can.
Trying to find black trim pieces to replace the gray. I want to do a complete overhaul but can't find the trims. Does anyone know anyone or a company that sells interior trimmings? Lmk. Comment down below
Sold the truck awhile ago but never resolved. A few people have mentioned a different harness but it's the same one included with the console My bet is its something with the bcm that needs to be turned on via forscan
why did you have to change out the 2 outside a/c vents? I see the 2 center ones have a chrome strip in them. I'm guessing the xl doesn't have the chrome strips.
So the original poster that came up with that part number deleted their comment and it looks like FL3Z-14A318 is some sort of light harness. I'm pulling that information until I can get the proper conversion harness part number.
After doing some research, it appears that the harness SHOULD be HC3Z-14A318-AH. It still just looks like it's for the ambient lights. If you want to give it a shot and report back if it's successful I'll give you a shout out in the description and get it updated for everyone else.
Not a whole lot especially with the blow through ducting. Since my truck doesn't have the stock 110v inverter I had considered hiding an inverter under the console, just not sure about ventilation

I relocated and connected it to the side of the jump seat and it powered up the two wires that led the the rear power 12v power outlet but before I connected those two wires I decided to check them with a meter. It read 72-75 a.c. volts. Did you have the same problem?
Do you have an inverter on your truck? On the rear of some consoles they have a 120v outlet so I'd assume that harness can potentially feed that? I'm still breaking down the wiring to work with my truck. I verified all the fuses are there for the console wiring harness just have to break it out so everything is fed properly.

cory dorsey nope. Been working on getting the shop completed. Then I'll have some time to pull the console again and go through that harness
Project FD Quick question I have the inverter under the rear seat. What do I have to do to get the 12v outlet in the back of the console to work
I’m looking into getting a 2018 superduty, and I want the bench seat, but I can’t find a truck near me that has the bench seat and everything else I want.
Are you going from floor console to center console ? The long trim pieces are specific to each setup but the actual vent piece can be interchanged
@@Projectfd I have a jump seat in there now. And I would like to add the center console
I have the trailer assist on mine so that is why I was wondering
I’m trying to install jumper seat instead of console, but dont know where to get center jump seat. Would you know where to look on the internet?
I’ll trade you for mine jump seat
Where can I get the console that you took out? I've never seen that kind of console
If you're still interested I will have one listed on my eBay store this week. It will include the floor console and the brackets needed.
Did the console you installed come from f250 or f150 ?
Thanks !
F150, that's all outlined in the video.
Main reason (at the time) you were not able to purchase f250 consoles from the refresh.
For anyone interested the price for the console itself as of 19 dec 2022 is $1,699 not including any other parts whatsoever
That's so insane lol
Hey man longshot question,
Do you know what model/trim f150’s will have this console that can fit into a 2018 f150 XLT?
2015 and above
Project FD thank you brotha👌🏻
Sweet upgrade
What is the wire you used to add the dual usb jack?
Did you ever find your answer? I'm about to do this swap myself
@@chokenstad nope
Trying to find black trim pieces to replace the gray. I want to do a complete overhaul but can't find the trims. Does anyone know anyone or a company that sells interior trimmings? Lmk. Comment down below
Do you know if this is pretty much the same that I'd need to do to swap consoles in my 17 xlt f150?
Should be 👍
How much did the center console cost you and where do you purchase it from?
Ran a little over $300 shipped. I purchased via LKQ on ebay
Did u ever get ur power to work
Have the part number for the longer Sync cable?
Did you ever figure out how to get power to the rear power ports??
Sold the truck awhile ago but never resolved. A few people have mentioned a different harness but it's the same one included with the console
My bet is its something with the bcm that needs to be turned on via forscan
I hate it when the shifter is next to the cupholders because they always get stuck and I can't shift it.
I see the benefit in both ways but stuck with the column shifter due to ease of install
why did you have to change out the 2 outside a/c vents? I see the 2 center ones have a chrome strip in them. I'm guessing the xl doesn't have the chrome strips.
question answered thanks
Peter Beertema correct, no chrome and the xl is a textured plastic
thanks project fd. I'm waiting for my leather from katzkin and will tackle it all at the same time.
Hey Do You Have To Run The Ac Through The Console Or Is That Just Optional ???????
Optional, if you don't order the flow through part you just won't have rear ac
I think one is a trailer brake controller set up and the other is the cubby hole
Yep, just in different locations between the F150 and 250 for some strange reason.
Project FD what is the part numbers for the two little plastic pieces that goes in the front corners of the console
- FL3Z-15672A40-BB - Floor Console Plug
- FL3Z-15672A40-AD - Floor Console Plug
Project FD are these pieces needed for f150 as well f250
Far as I know the consoles themselves are the same, so those plugs should work.
So I need to order these two pieces.
Nice toaster over there on the counter 😉
It's really not that great of a toaster lol
Did your pickup come stock with the leather seats?
Nope they were upgraded to Katzkin leather
Would you know the whole part number for that wiring harness?
So the original poster that came up with that part number deleted their comment and it looks like FL3Z-14A318 is some sort of light harness. I'm pulling that information until I can get the proper conversion harness part number.
After doing some research, it appears that the harness SHOULD be HC3Z-14A318-AH. It still just looks like it's for the ambient lights. If you want to give it a shot and report back if it's successful I'll give you a shout out in the description and get it updated for everyone else.
@@Projectfd okay sounds good I’ll let you know soon have all the parts coming in soon
where do u buy parts for stuff like this
Check the description for the full parts list and vendors. I sourced between LKQ and Tasca.
where do i buy the console at?
Why not use the F250 Platinum Center Console?
It's an option, but at the time of this there weren't any available
Do you have the part number to the brackets to mount the console?
I'm 90% sure it is FL3Z-15046B32-BA or last letters BB. I ordered one (BB) today and will be doing the console swap next week.
I need this mod on my 2018 in the worst kind of way
Good job, next time buy a truck that have what you want, less the aggravation
Boosted C7 Z06 wasn't worth the extra 4k to get a console. All said and done this should only cost me about $600
or at least buy f250 parts for a f250 huh?
Chris L. No one is parting 17 f250s yet and ford's parts catalog has no hard body parts for 17 f250s yet
So the console is from a 2017 f150 or 250.... On ur parts list it says f150
F150
@@Projectfd 👍
is there much unused space under the full console?
Not a whole lot especially with the blow through ducting. Since my truck doesn't have the stock 110v inverter I had considered hiding an inverter under the console, just not sure about ventilation
thanks for the info. I did not think about the air ducts. seemed like there could be a nice unused spot, but apparently not.
Show me how to install in my 2000 excursion lol… i wish
About how long did this take?
3-4 hours being the first time
Will this work on a 2021 F250
Not sure what the 2021 refresh did for interior but my guess is the parts may have changed
What seat covers do you have??
Katzkin seat covers
@@Projectfd Mr Ford is rolling in his grave that you used THOSE seat covers. Do yourself a favor and pick up or download a copy of his book 'the international jevv'. Also, watch 'TGSNT'.
11:40 pocket - built in brake controller.
Or cubby, but the dash brace is different between the 150 and 250
Do you know what the deleted option was for under the left side ac vent?
Trailer brakes, my truck wasn't optioned for it
I have a 2017 f250 STX and I installed a jump seat... I had a problem with the delected connector that was located under the removed tray.
Under your rear seat you'll have an inverter module... that thing makes 120VAC! Don't connect 120VAC to your cigarette lighter!
Thomas, I'm looking to remove my center console and install a jump seat. Did you have to swap out the front driver and passenger seats, or did the center console fit between the two front seats? What about the rear AC vents.
Where can I find a center console for a decent price ?
Junkyards, I got mine from LKQ online
@@Projectfd I know is a stupid question but what name are they under i type in console but only a part comes out with pictures of trucks without center consoles...thanks for your time
