It's not just the song with this one but the moment it hits as you build towards the climax of this insanely emotional story shifting between the perspectives of the 2 characters showcasing 2 different aspects of gameplay as the transitions to the characters get faster as the music builds. Of all the moments I've experienced in gaming this is probably the one that I would choose if I could experience something again for the first time. One of the greatest climaxes in all of gaming.

Seriously, Route C is one of the best things I've ever played, wich wouldn't have been possible without the build up of A and B. Just so intense and tragic, and this part is the cherry on top (not counting ending E)

I literally could not agree more. this climatic moment is one of the most memorable moments in my entire gaming experience, I experienced it at like 15 years old with my dad watching along with me as I raced toward the top of the tower and neither of us said a word the entire time. so amazing.

God, that piano at 2:10 absolutely *sends me* . That and I'm a complete mark for "two people racing towards the same place with diverging goals" scenarios.
Tangentially, my biggest gripe with the official Nier Automata OST is the omission of a section of the Amusement Park song, where it's just the isolated strings. It's just this quiet, haunting little aside that works wonders for the atmosphere of the environment.

Easily one of my favorite tracks of this game. Just that image of 9S and A2 ascending the tower is etched into my mind with this song. For the record, I love every single song on this OST, but this one manages to capture that tense forward momentum of the game perfectly.

Chaos language really is such a good element of Nier's music scape, it allows us to have a music within the music, something you can viscerally connect with and understand even though we can't have a clear interpretation of the chanting.

    A "Bipolar"
We feel a opposite spectrum of emotion
    We rage, but we sad
    We anger, but we understand
We war, but we know its meaningless..
Its why ragefull 9s is paired with lentient a2
We see the double meaning of war.

Toby Fox music is well thought and emotional when it needs to. The composition of the songs are just a masterpiece.
Genshin music is Orchestral almost makes you feel like you're part of a musical theater, lol. But really good music in general.
Now Nier and Nier Automata music are sometimes wierd in theyre own unique way. Those songs make you realize that you don't need intellegible lyrics to make it a good song. In my opinion, Lyrics help understanding the meaning of a song (while not all the time), but from where I stand, I see it only as a way to complement it to make a whole.
In the Nier games, the song and the lyrics does exactly that.
That makes me wonder what Genshin music would be like with lyrics.
I just wanted to share my thoughts on the matter. Once again great reaction video!😄

Ok, looking back at your vids, looks like I managed to completely miss alot of your Automata reactions.
As far as Bipolar Nightmare goes, unlike some of the other tracks in the OST, I like how it starts with the instrumental version first before going into the vocal version as opposed to the other way around. Aside from the fact the instrumental version alone sounds epic, doing it that way gave me that anticipation when the singers finally start singing. I already liked the song before, yet that simple move made it one of my favorites.
A couple of other favorites of mine are Amusement Park and The Tower. I love the way those songs were arranged in the soundtrack.

Yoooo I was just watching your reaction to A Beautiful Song and then I saw this in the recommendation uploaded like 10 minutes ago, what a timing
Anyway although I have listened to Video Game music outside of the video game for a long time starting from Final Fantasy ost to DMC 3 to Kingdom heart and I think they are amazing and I love them but NieR Automata is the first game that made me actually buy the game ost and listen to it regularly for years then I started to do more with other game like Drakengard, NieR Replicant, FFXV, Zelda and nowadays I listen to Genshin OST whenever I read a book because of the huge library of high quality unique sounding music that fit into any and all kind of emotion and moments make it perfect to be used as background music while I read or doing other activity. It helps to emphasize the feeling and emotion that the story is trying to convey just like how it improves the game storytelling while at the same time they just sound amazing on their own as well. Sometimes I just lay on my bed with headphones on and close my eyes while listening to these masterpieces
Enough of my rant, I'm just glad to be a part of this community of music enjoyers. Sharing our passion with each other feels really great

Automatas music and nier music in general is on another level. The placement of Automatas position as my second favorite game of all time is due in no short part to its uniquely wonderful music. And I agree, the desicion to create undecipherable language for these songs truly does allow us to focus not on lyrics but of the emotion behind them. As far as recomendations go for potential videos I think song of the ancients, possesed by disease, memories of dust (and my 2 personal favorites) wretched weaponry and birth of wish are the best the track has to offer, they still bring tears to my eyes occasionally. Phenominal job as always man

  • @PaszerDye
    @PaszerDye Рік тому +1

The fabric of the song truly finds itself in unrelenting forward momentum of the base melody. Despair is overwhelming & can be made of many things, but here, it is notified as building anxiety that coalesces into despair & the resulting indifferences of helplessness.
The 2 characters highlighted by this sequence serve as both base points of view and foils to each other in this rather operatic stage.
On one hand, 9S is climaxing into an existential meltdown. He just lost YorHa, 2B & was forced to kill a brainwashed 17O. All the new discoveries & revelations are overloading him & tearing apart the world as he knew & the lens he viewed it thru as a logical and methodical scout. This is exemplified by the choir that handles the main chanting & nuances the struggle of juggling the implications of all the revelations and the weight it brings on his soul.
In counter, A2 has already been through this, though in a different scale & context. Her entire squadron had been eradicated in a previous skirmish, & she's had a long time to think about all the details & circumtances as well as the way they tumbled & ended up, only to still not make sense of it, and ultimately turn hardened to most of it in order to keep her sanity. You can hear this through the reverberating & unknowable flourish that shortly follows the main chants. Its indifferent, almost alien tune doesn't afford a clear association to what the song has established up to that point, but because it has been composed to run counter to the chanting & the base momentum, it undenaibly comes off as antagonistic; a warning, a demarcation of the point of no return, inspite of its veiled intervention & intentions to help.
The final bit of singing is a fusion of these two sides. It is way more decipherable & clean than the alien flourish, yet also less rigid & more forgiving & merciful than the chanting. This alludes to the kindness & healing 9S would have gone thru had he accepted his grief & how out of control things had become, as well as A2's stoic consolation & assurance that enduring thru grief is always worth it.
Instead, the last singing section ends in a cliffhanger sort of a conclusion, a penultimate lead into their final battle. This nightmare is heavy & full of many dolorous emotions, but being bipolar in aspect is not just a hint to the characters it highlights and their diametrically opposed positions of standing in midst & end point of trauma. Bipolar also means that it is completely full and there is no room for healing or forgiveness. Only the ghost of it.

I think Bipolar Nightmare, Grandma - Destruction and Dependent Weakling tell a story together just by melody and instrumentation alone.
Bipolar Nightmare is the beginning of the journey; your will is strong, and nobody will stop you from getting what you want. All is valid in the name of the thing beyond all things.
Grandma - Destruction is the musical equivalent of a dilemma. You start discovering more, and is hard to tell what is true and what is a lie told by others or yourself.
Dependent Weakling is the end of everything. The lines of what is right or wrong are blurred, and all the harm you've done can be truly seen. You continue stepping forward, just looking for the end of it all.
I think this arc does not only work between the songs, but for the whole Nier franchise itself. Dependent Weakling might not be the most known, but I feel like it's the most emotional between the three (and my favourite), so I think it would be a good suggestion for a video as well!

People had already said what I needed to say about the music so I came in with suggestions. This is the Project Moon series of games: Lobotomy corp, Library of Ruina, and the upcoming Limbus Company. L.corp only has instrumental namely the "trumpets" set. At the same time, LoR got themselves Mili for some of their vocalized music- there is no spoiler in the lyrics, but they are the best with context (that's also the thing with Honkai Impact's music too, but I believe you are the best hand- or ear, to entrust with the spirit of the songs). LoR has String Theocracy, From A Place of Love, Children Of The City, Iron Lotus, And Then Is Heard No More, Gone Angels, Poems Of A Machine, and various battle themes. I hope you can take a look into that because you have proven to be the best and only blind reactor id ever want to watch

The game is a “prequel” to the Nier franchise. Drakengard 1, 2, and 3’s soundtrack are each made by different composers which fit the theme of each game. Keiichi Okabe composes Drakengard 3, who also does the Nier soundtrack. Anyways thank you for making excellent videos to binge at 3am.
Edit: Oh it looks like you have listened to some songs from Drakengard 3. You should check out “growing wings” and the intoner themes as well.

Nier: Automata is one of my top 5 games of all time, right next to FFX, FFT, 007 Goldeneye, and The Legend of Dragoon.
Speaking of which, if you haven't heard the opening for Legend of Dragoon, I highly suggest you check it out. "If You Still Believe - Elsa (Cornish) Raven", she has an insane control over her vocal range. Her high pitch still gives me shivers after 20 years, and she gets nearly no recognition.

I will cite the name of an ancient evil and ask if you could react to Homestuck's music all throughout the webcomic.
A lot of the songs there was composed by Toby Fox, the dude behind Undertale and its music. One of the few songs the comes to mind is [s] Cascade

Really close to what I thought. To me this song felt oversaturated with desperation and urgency, as though the weight of all creation depended on a last ditch effort and the slower parts were fatigue rearing it's ugly head hahaha. I don't really like making suggestions, as I'd prefer to leave discovery and topics to the creator, but I admit I'm dying to know what you think of Cold Steel Coffin. Thanks for this and will be keeping tuned. Have a good one, Marco.

The Title alone invokes terror. We are not fighting just another machine. We are fighting the orcistrator, the puppet master. N2 is a dangerous being only focused on one thing. To learn. It wants to learn what it means to be human and in doing so it is willing to harm everyone and everything for its own selfish gain. As we fight it, the stakes become more and more dire as it begins to understand. To learn it created a duality. An android who learned to care for others, and see beyond their physical forms. The other, an android who is filled with nothing but hate and a desire for blood. As the two fought separately, N2 grew dissatisfied and wished to rest everything, again. However, once the androids put their differences aside to fight against their creator, N2 took great interest. It learned from them what it wanted. After it learned the duality of human nature, it became satisfied and left. It left the world in ruins, but it also left behind hope, hope for a new beginning.
