Good thing you had those two geese helping you out pushing your bow over.
Great video. Thanks, Tim.
I thought they were tug geese.
😂😂 Thank you very much for watching Ralph. They were determined weren't they? CUOTO
😂😂 Thank you very much for watching Rob. CUOTO
Power of those tugs never cease to amaze me. So much energy moving as slow as they do. Imagine the energy thay ship had that took the bridge out yesterday. Hundreds of thousands of tons if not a million or so
Thank you very much for watching. Dali was just shy of 100k tons! Nothing but a bridge was going to stop her. CUOTO
Dr. Sal sent me over here. I'm glad he did. Excellent video!! thank you
Welcome! Thank you for watching. CUOTO
Pretty cool conning. Thanks for the control descriptions. Big vessel, very restricted spot and changing currents. I respect the Captain as the ultimate authority as he has the ultimate responsibility. You accept and respect the responsibility and handle the authority adroitly.
Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Any sightings of USS New Jersey? Should be somewhere along the Delaware river in Philadelphia.
Thank you for watching William. Oh yes. In fact, one of the more circulated videos of her moves shows us pushing a loaded barge right by her. CUOTO
Luke timed the move perfectly!
If you go by the drydocks, give the New Jersey a toot! Not sure if you saw that, pretty good video and coordinated tug work
Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
New appreciation for tugboats. Sure wish that Dali used tugs through the bridge in Baltimore
Thank you very much for watching. They wouldn't have been able to make much of a difference at that speed. CUOTO
Just a complete pleasure to watch a master do his job!
Tim Thanks
Thank you very much Rory. CUOTO
Good job. Everything was carried out nice and gently. Beautiful sunrise as well!
Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Wow, this docking and maneuvering was incredibly tight quarters. You really had to thread a needle.
Thank you very much for watching John. CUOTO
Looked like those geese were going to give a little assist for a minute
I was hoping they'd help out. Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Tim , that was a master class in docking. Good job..
Thank you very much for watching Biff. CUOTO
Another safe manoeuvre so well done. Thanks for sharing.

Morning Tim, nice job employing those two Canadian Cobra Chickens pushing the bow over into position. Just don't tell them about joining the union, you'll never get that kind of Wheaties work out of them again! TY for taking us along this morning, have a blessed week.
😂😂😂😂 Thank you very much for watching! CUOTO
Could you see Battleship New Jersey in the Delaware? She was across from the airport for a week before heading to drydock.
Oh yes! Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel. CUOTO
Great job, Captain!

Smooth move Cap'n. That God you're not in Baltimore this morning. That one looks real bad.. 🙏

Watch out fer that bridge!!!
Thank you for watching. We were enroute to Baltimore and luckily just missed it. CUOTO
When I was a Dock Operator, I would get there early. I would be standing by the chicchan . I know I spelled it wrong 😊This is where we hook up. I made a lot friends with Tankermen. That is what they call them, today? Shout out to your crew!
We call then ChickStands. Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO

Just found this channel recently and absolutely love his voice for evening YT stuff. It’s comforting somehow 🤷♀️ Thanks for the awesome content! ✌️
It's been a rough day in the maritime world. We were enroute to Baltimore, just a couple hours from when the bridge went down. I've spent the day doing my best to get the record straight, but some people just want to fight with me here in the comments. So, it's so nice to read such a wonderful comment from you Kat. Thank you very very much. CUOTO
@@TimBatSea You’re so very welcome, and I’m sorry it’s been a rough time lately. You’ve got the truth and your hard earned experience under your belt. The rest is just noise. You control who gets your energy 🙌🫶💪 You’re doing GREAT! 👏👏👏 Look for the silver linings, always!
Best part was the great sunrise!!!!! oh and nice park job, capt. yukyuk.
😂😂 Thank you very much for watching David. CUOTO
Please be safe out there Tim.
Thank you very much Nicolas. CUOTO
So last time I posted I had asked about the Line Handlers & whether they were crew or union men? I know the North Eastern US
is all union but is all your work done w/ Union Worker's? Not important that I know, I only asked since you were waiting. So I'll
change gears >> the music in the start; a really phat sound of blues/funk..... would that be the kind of music you look for when
you have time? I played jazz in college/payed my tuition for 2 yrs . It's interesting looking at all the variables of the river/tidal
movements & then moving the mass of a full barge. The dynamics of how you use all these forces to do the job. thanks for
showing us this. peace & be safe out there. GB ALL
Thank you for watching. Not all the docks are union. I think this one was, but union or not, the dock determines the rules for docking. So in this case they say "line handers are required". As union guys go, these guys are great and very good to work with. As to the intro music, that's some copyright free music called "Funk Sauce" and yes, I love old school disco, funk, r&b and blues. CUOTO
Good thing you weren't at the Patapsco dock in Baltimore this morning! You would be there a while it appears...
Thank you for watching. We were enroute there and got within a couple hours of going under the bridge when it happened. Video to come. CUOTO
Hey Tim .. Thinking of all the commercial vessels and the great job y’all do. Sorry to see the tragic loss in Baltimore. I’m a Great Lakes boater and appreciate our big Lakers we see regularly here in the Straits. On a lighter note, the geese helping push your bow are technically called Canada Geese. Although many may hail from Canada and thus ARE Canadian , unless you check their passports we shouldn’t judge HAHA. Just thought I’d put that out there so we don’t have any Hells Gate issue. Keep up the good work. CUOTO…
😂😂😂😂 After all that has been happening in the 36 hours, I needed that. Thank you very much for watching and keeping me straight. CUOTO
You're in my territory now. I'm across the river. I think you're north of me.
Did you get video of the USS New Jersey moving to Paulsboro then to the Philadelphia ship yard?
Thank you for watching Bob. No, but we were in most of the news reels. We passed right by it as it docked. CUOTO

Thank you for watching. We were on our way to Baltimore and had just a little more to go when it happened. Video to come. CUOTO
What with the two tree islands? Seem strange to be there.
Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Tim. When you have time, can you do a short one on what you might think went wrong and what could’ve been done on that cargo container ship coming in and taking out the bridge the Francis Scott Keybridge. For someone like me here on the West Coast, we don’t see any of that and don’t understand any of that, at least I don’t enjoy watching you move your barges around with your tugboat. I really love that. I enjoy that I do do a lot of deep-sea fishing or used to. It’s been a while but anyway thing is they any tugboats on that cargo container ship to help guide it in or not, just wondering just would like to have your perspective on it as you’re a tugboat operator and you know the area and what the bridges are like and what they can do to protect those bridges from further incidents down the road if it all possible just curious I hate to see any more loss of life through tragic accidents like this. It’s sad that this happened that’s for sure anyway Tim you be safe. Be careful and enjoy your life.
Thank you very much for watching and for the kind words Jerry. We were inbound for Baltimore at the time and were only 10 miles away. They suffered a loss of power which also means a loss of steering. It's 2 tugs were released after getting it lined up in the channel as per standard operation. But a ship that size making 7kt as she starts running towards the bridge, no Tugboat on earth would be able to stop it. There will be fingers pointed and new laws and restrictions will make politicians feel good, but all things mechanical will fail at some time. CUOTO
@@TimBatSea Thank you Tim for your response back to my question. I understand things fail, and I do know that they need power to steer and maneuver around with thrusters and so forth I understand some of it and without power, you have no hope of doing anything when you’re in tight quarters Reven out in the middle of the ocean during a storm when loss of power happens at the mercy of God‘s wrath during a storm I understand all that is a heavy equipment operator when things happen things happen and I know politicians they’re gonna start writing laws and making it harder for you people to do your job Unfortunately, but maybe some of these larger ships coming in to port might need some bigger tugboats to help guide them in to help keep them in where they’re supposed to be in case they do have some sort of loss of power. The tugboats might be able to maybe keep them still in control, I don’t know that was just my thought but a shipped size is gonna take some huge tugboats to keep under control. I think but thank you for your response. Stay safe be careful stay warm storm just came through Albuquerque and it looks like it’s heading your way.
That bridge in the back round is no longer. Hope you can make it out of there and you and crew are safe.

Thank you for watching Rodney. Yes. We were enroute to Baltimore when it happened. Now we are anchored waiting for new orders as I'm sure this load is no longer going to Baltimore. CUOTO
Hey Tim how’s everything did you happen to see the USS New Jersey there bringing her to the Philadelphia ship yard for dry docking for repairs
Thank you for watching Eddie. Oh yes! We went right by it. CUOTO
Hey Tim, no such thing as "Canadian" Geese. Those are "Canada" geese. Big difference. Canadian denotes belonging to or citizen of Canada. To best of my knowledge, geese do not carry passports 😆. Canada Goose is the species name. i would bet the geese in your vlog have never been in canada, LOL
Good point! Thank you very much for watching and welcome to the channel. CUOTO
Glad to hear you rolled into a dock instead of a bridge.... Man, that Baltimore deal SUCKS!!! Any thoughts?
Thank you very much for watching. Many thoughts. Sal on What's going on with Shipping seems to have it covered best. I may do a separate video on my thoughts, but we'll see. CUOTO
Hey TIM! Get over to Stocks Bakery!
Thank you for watching. Sounds like a cool place! CUOTO
was you anywhere close to the Battleship New Jersey when it made the big move down towards the drydock.
Thank you very much for watching Allen. Yea, in fact Luke ran us right by her in one if the news clips. CUOTO
"What could possibly go wrong?" - so you've been watching that channel where that's the punch line? Meanwhile, nice video!
Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Hi Tim, I have a question about the tragic Baltimore bridge collapse. I was just wondering why the huge ship was not connected to tugs, until the bridge was passed.
I have no idea how the requirements for tug assistance are, but maybe you could give some educated insight, how the standatd procedures work, maybe direct for the harbor of Baltimore.
That would be interesting and helpful to understand the situation.
Thanks! Keep up what you are doing.
P.S. of course I understand that you might be hesitant as long as investigations are ongoing. But maybe a few explanations, without commenting the actual case are possible. If not, I understand.
Thank you very much for watching and forming your comment so thoughtfully. I will put something together. But we are kind if caught up in all of it. We were enroute to Baltimore and got to within a couple hours of going under the bridge when it happened. Since then we've been re routed to NYC, but that has come with other complications. But I will get a video out about it soon. In the meantime, go to "whats going on in shipping". Dr Sal is covering it perfectly. CUOTO
nice job!! How long are you assigned to the Delaware River??
Thank you for watching Wayne. Not sure. We are just working on this 3000 while our boat is in the shipyard. CUOTO
Good morning Tim. Did you happen to catch them moving the USS New Jersey from Camden to dry dock Philly ship yard?
Thank you for watching Nick. Yes. Did you see us in the news reels pushing a barge as the New Jersey goes toward her lay berth? That was us. CUOTO
Tim it’s very smart to nothing at all about it
Thank you Ed. CUOTO
Just saw the video of the ship hitting the bridge in Baltimore, ya think a tug could have helped keep it off support structure? Take care
Thank you for watching. Highly unlikely. A ship that size moving at 7kts, when it goes hard over, there isn't a tug on the planet that will stop it. CUOTO
Nice day for fishing ain't it ✌️🗿
Thank you for watching John. I like eating what I catch and I couldn't imagine eating a fish from this river. 😂 CUOTO
Those were the Cobra-Chickens not geese. They are always angry and attack anything that moves.
😂😂😂 Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO

🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 for later..lol
Thank you very much for watching! It wasn't a navigational error. They lost power which means they lost steering at 7kt on a ship that probably weighs around 100k tons. We were lucky to have been a few hours from being under the same bridge. CUOTO
@@TimBatSeaty capt.you keep it real. I had a buddy flounder was 333 25 years ago. I'd here stories. Always wanted to Steer. Right on. Ty cheers to the Crew !

11:05 I was just thinking that. You would have to pivot right in the middle, or you'd push yourself off the corner?
Thank you for watching Stephen. It's difficult to find the right place to pivot when your stern is in the tide but the bow of the barge isn't. CUOTO

"Latr"? LOL
Thank you for watching and welcome to the channel Tim. Are you referring to "lateral"? If so, that means sideways. CUOTO
@@TimBatSea I think he's referring to the "A Few Moments Latr" graphic around 1:37. Just say you did it on purpose - we'll all believe you!
No ! @TimBatSea, I'm just poking the bear...your graphic said "latr" rather than "later"....despite having been a Junior Engineer/Deck Engineer, Oiler, Fireman/Watertender, etc., I'm a typo geek. But hey, I always appreciate what you do and your great videos, shipmate!
On the "Accident": The Captain took the ship out. He is fully culpable and inescapably responsible for the entire operation of the ship. If it wasn't fully sea worthy in all respects, he had no business taking it out in the first place. At the very least he is guilty of manslaughter if not second degree murder. There will be many held responsible of contributory negligence. The Chief Engineer, The State of Maryland, The Federal Government. This has shades of the Oakland Bay Bridge collapse during the world series during an earthquake and watching cars drive over the edge. Also Costa Concordia with that chicken shit Captain abandoning the ship and crew and passengers. Tim, I look forward to your video and insight on it. Now I can enjoy your video.
Thank you again for watching. The captain will shoulder the consequences as many others will to some extent. But mechanical things fail. And if every ship had to have the captain have the ways and means to check every shipboard system out, it still would not guarantee nothing will fail. If my brakes fail, I will look first to the mechanic or manufacturer before thinking I did something wrong. It's a tragedy and is heartbreaking. But no one was drinking on the job, or fell asleep at the wheel. The plant died on a 100k ton ship moving at more than 7 kts. We can insist that they need two 5500hp tractor tugs in the future, but they wouldn't have been able to do much at that speed to a ship that big. So you slow shipping down? Everyone wants things until they have to pay for them. The thing we might ask ourselves is why hasn't this happened before? Or perhaps it has. CUOTO
Interesting that you picked up on the speed. I thought it was my eyes looking at the video. He was honking along. As far as plants go, I've experienced loss of plant probably 100 times. (A quirk of my ship flashing the deaerator feed tank) And in formation. Hell of a time communicating with the others but with the emergency generators we always had steering. To be sure this ship did not lose steering. (Else the emergency generators really didn't work, even more of a reason not to get underway) And no assist tugs, slow down to bare steerageway. Captains and their leadership of the crew are responsible to check every shipboard system.@@TimBatSea
Heeeeey...... this thing isn't painted haze gray and doesn't have 16 inch triple turrets. 😉
😂😂😂😂😂 Thank you very much for watching. Did you see us going by pushing a loaded barge in the news reels? CUOTO
@@TimBatSea If I did, I didn't realize it. I watched the onboard live stream and other than the expected ships, I did notice two others, but I thought they were in an anchorage.
Thx for not running over us Canadians!!
Never! 😂 Thank you very much for watching from the great white north. CUOTO
Don't mean to bother you Tim but I too, am still infuriated with no real factual answers are coming g from harbormaster or pilots. I just want to know if you can answer a reasonable question ? I have conflicting reports but no answer. Why/ what purpose did the Dali have two tugs trolling next to her(unattached) part way to sea then suddenly depart in unison? Moments after they were gone the Dali experienced complete electrical failure. My question is why weren't the tugs attached fore and after escorting her past the bridge to open waters? I know I have at least another dozen questions but this is the one question I'm seeking an answer to. Any ideas? I'm perplexed with the lack of mandatory safety requirements with so much at stake. Most notably loss of human life needlessly.
Tugs helped her get off the dock and got her to the main channel where she would pick up minimum steerage speed. In this case, at 8kts, I do not believe tugs could have helped her. Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
I'll watch your video later. Right now I'm fuming mad at the situation in Baltimore. Absolutely no excuse for this disaster. Hope the Captain and the Pilots and others responsible all get life in prison terms. Also noted that there are no dolphins on the bridge's abutments, but other structure in the waterway are protected.
Same. Wow what a tragedy. Can't wait to see what went wrong
Find out who ISIS is to the captain. This was terrorism!
Thank you for watching. Please be advised that we were inbound and only a little more than an hour away and watched and heard it happen in real time. The ship lost it's plant (loss of power) and thus lost steering. The captain and pilot likely had little if anything to do with this allision. We listened to the pilot making all the correct calls before and during it happening. Video to come. CUOTO
There will be excuses and some may be valid.
Tragic for sure and we need to wait for the facts. This is going to be bad for perhaps years. Prayers for the first responders and all others impacted by this sad accident.
