Uh, Brandon, 1974 was WELL into flatbottom V-drive boats. I have one with a hull molded in 1960, with an original registration. I built the engine presently in it, and on its first outing was clocked at 111 mph. I grew up waterskiing behind this boat with a different engine easily cruising around 65 mph. Simple to do on a single ski.
i know it doesn't really fit with the overall aesthetic of your projects/channel/brand, but the hot rod yellow/purple looks good on that boat. It stands out and screams 'look at me' as you fly by. keep the color scheme.
You can nix the zoomie pipes since it's naturally aspirated. Go to a collector header it will help it run better plus move the noise away from your ears
Yeah, and if your hat stays on your probably running under 60 mph
Headers will give you another 1000 rpm and more torque anywhere in the rpm range. Have Fun and be Safe !

The first thing I'd do for the motor would be detuning it. It's more forgiving for beginners which what all of you are, it's better for the motor and you can tune it up when you're used to the power and the handling. Very nice buy

Epic!! And there is only one choice for a new name... Drag-in' (with Jordan)- with a cool dragon wrap/paint scheme. I love the purple and yellow, so keep it to pay homage to its origins.
First thing you need to change, put a Holley Sniper EFI on it. It will self-tune to the engine or you can fine-tune it. No more flooding problems then.
You gotta get Cleetus McFarland on this thing! He would love it and you guys would have an amazing collaboration.
Jordan I have a similar boat on Lake Martin very close to where Jake lives. A couple of suggestions for you. When you go to idle and turn the boat off switch to neutral and rev the engine while shutting down. This helps with the loading up of the carburetor and flooding if you're planning on firing the engine back up. But yes that carburetor needs adjusted badly. Secondly, a 671 supercharger!!! You'll thank me later. And lastly, DO NOT put a racing harness in this boat. You actually want to be able to fly out of it if you hit a wake wrong. All the weight is in that engine and they tend to want to roll over with not a lot of list. Put a pull chord from your pfd to the seat is safer than strapped in unconscious and upside down.

Happy you got a V-drive. It is more than capable of over 100mph. Prop, V-Drive gearing and more than 500hp will get you there. The plate setup is also needed for the boat to take a good set at speed.
We have run flatbottoms, runnerbottoms and a hydro.
He also needs to put a Holley Sniper EFI on it. It'll run much more reliably.
@@89ludeawakening1 Good idea. Injection set up. We have run carburetors, guess old school here. Lol. Done 660 center squirter holleys on tunnel ram. Messed with Holleys, Carter AFBs, and Eddie's. Big thing on Carbs was to float the boat and work on them by the dock. Float bowl levels and jetting. Would enjoy to see more on fuel injection setups on hot boats. All we knew was the guys running enderle setups on blower motors.

@@jasonatencio3971 A V-drive is setup with a driveshaft going forward, in the boat, from the engine to a gearbox , a lower shaft heads rearward from the box to drive the propeller.
The gearbox has a pair of gears inside. Most boxes had a neutral , and drive. The way to get more speed out of the gearbox was to take apart the box and replace the pair of gears with different size of gears.

The tents are not so good for stormy weather, but they last a long time even in winter, if you do not get some crazy stormy weather in the summer. For heavy wind you need to tie them down or fasten them to the ground or place items on the legs, but when it gets too heavy the wind will anyways damage these things. We had one some time ago, there are not many storms here, but one windy summer we found out about the issues. The front of the door usually has a metal part, so never park too close to it as the wind can open it and start moving the metal around, damaging the car. Try to place them near trees, because in wind they act as a sail and that is kind of one of the main issues with these, but it has to be quite heavy wind, so normal weather is fine. And were those spider webs in the boat! You should clean it :D

You definitely need a down peddle if you are going over 85mph. Without it you’ll have to slow way down to turn or else it’ll flip.
Looks like it's got plenty of power but maybe make it fuel injection to be more reliable. Either way it gonna be badass.

I went through a drag racing phase in my 20's and thru my engine builder, I learned that motor boats can use the same kinds of engines as cars! Nice.
Also custom drag racing engines are fragile. Sometimes all you get is that one great race... And then it blows a gasket and you just limp around until you can save up to rebuild it again, only bigger

I'm right with you that boat is absolutely insane. I grew up loving the muscle cars in the 70s and that is just wow. I absolutely love the purple on their I'm a Mopar girl and that is as close to plum crazy purple as I can see and I guess it really has to go with yellow it makes it work. I agree the name works. If finances are tough and you're okay with what it looks like the way it is Let It Go. The sound of that my goodness the things it does to you wow. I see you buying a bunch of portable tent shelters but what about erecting a big Sprung Shelter and putting a gravel floor in it. if iits only for storage that would work. Another solution could be the same but a compacted reclaim asphalt floor. Having the space to do this stuff is paramount. Love the content still
