I am the owner of this vehicle - converted from a 7 seater into the campervan you see here today by myself. I lost drive and suspected the clutch was the issue - I am a retired mechanic of 31 yrs unfortunately due to health issues I was unable to carry out this work myself and did a bit of research to find someone I could trust to do the work and that could come to my home and fit O/E parts and all for a good price. I contacted Kevin and here is the work he did for me and he filmed it all too. Excellent work - very pleased with the job from first communication to job done very professional and friendly guy I would have no problem in recommending his services he’s a great mechanic and trustworthy/reliable.
@@maxthecaddy8451 hi yes - I’ve been in the trade for 31 yrs so it’s difficult to know who to trust with my vehicles but this guy is A1 as you know already.
@Win Mag yes he didn’t mind - nothing to hide I’ve done This job many times before in my younger healthier-days of being a mechanic for 31+yrs - he did a excellent job to a high standard.
I tried to book this guy to change the clutch on my nv200, but i was out of his catchment area. But as im an engineer with air tools, ive got both the drive shafts out now and starting work in the engine bay, will finish tomorrow. This video is an absolute godsend and i really appreciate the effort it must have taken to make. 10/10 sir, i will update
@@WMCS So…..its all back together and working like a dream. The clutch is so light now!!. I used a scaffold tube across the engine bay and ratchet on the eye to lift it. Lord knows how you managed to do it by arm strength alone. Managed to strip one of the threads on the starter motor but just put a nut on the end of the bolt that poked through…lucky. Oh and missed two bolts on extraction and couldnt work out why the gearbox wasnt coming apart from the engine 😋. Followed your video exactly and cleaned everything up nice too. I couldnt have done this without your expertise and brilliant video, thanks alot. I would recommend you any day of the week. Sam
Jordan I’m so pleased to get a review from yourself .., as a qualified mechanic ., let’s drink to that 🍻🍻., And for being Australian the baddest continent on this planet., let’s have a piss up at the brewery..😁✨🍻🍻
Great work and really fast! The upper part of the engine seemed yo be very clean and not many things to clear for space. Down same... The gearbox support with three bolts had one loose... I really enjoy clutch Fridays! Thanks for they video!
Yes good spotting .,, one of the top mount bolts was loose and there was a nut missing from the top back stud .,, all in all it was a very clean engine ..,
another good job, and it's nice to be done while you've still got the light, thanks for the video .. super. and a delighted customer, I know how he feels.
Great job. I own one of these and the clutch bite is very high. Its not slipping yet but i suspect it will do soon. Searching for clutch, it brings up dual mass flywheels as an option. Is there any way of knowing if i have a dual mass flywheel without removing the gearbox?
Have you tried contacting some parts suppliers? You could ring your local Nissan parts department. Just ask them for a price for it all and ask if the fly wheel was a dual mass.
When should i replace my clutch? I had view moments where it actually was smelling like crazy and one time when i needed to drive a trailer backwards a long way, it even started smoking. Car is driving, but it became heavy after my camper van build and on very steep roads the clutch starts smelling again.
This one had a twist to it. Came up as a DMF but had a solid flywheel... had to open it up. Get part number from old clutch .., then sourced parts .., came back to get it done under 5 hours whilst filming 🤩🍻🍻🍻
Hi can you do a single clutch plate conversion on a ford focus 1.8tdci which currently has a mass duel flywheel clutch. Is this recommend or would it cause issues in the future. Many thanks
Brilliant video mate. I like how you show the parts your taking off first then proceed to unbolt them. Really helpful. How long did this job take you from start to finish roughly? A friend of mine is wanting theirs done and I said I’d get them a hand.
I suspect me and my friend might be double your time 😆 I’ve don’t plenty of clutch’s on rear wheel drive vehicle. But I’m sure as your aware they tend to be a bit easier.
Greetings Kevin Albert from the wilds of South West France. Always a joy to watch someone who really knows their stuff...entertaining in the long Covid days too. This has inspred me to take on the same job myself on my little NV200 van shortly. The one bit the puzzled me was what looks like a bolt within a bolt at the left side of the gearbox, hex on the outside and needing a socket to Torx (?) adaptor for the inner bolt. Odd idea it seems but presumably involving some sort of pre and final tensioning. What size is the Torx head ?
Graham just use the outer metric of the bolt. Hope it’s not too wild and woolly in southern France. A place I’ve always like to visit. Hope it all goes well with your repair.
Since I’m no one’s slave I shall be no one’s master 🤩😁.,, you should try to work for yourself and sell us your service .., bring forth your skill young man ✨✨🍻🍻💫
