    Did a 3 piece clutch replacement on my drive today, following your guide. Your guide was excellent, but, as always, I had a bolt that wouldn't move and added 2 hours to the job. The sense of satisfaction when everything went back together and worked was amazing. Thank you.

    Is this virtually the same as an M9R X trail T3, 2009, think I may have a slipping clutch and difficult to get between 1st to 2nd gear. So not sure if clutch or slave cylinder or gear cable/connections or clutch (i have read that cable gets corroded inside protective sleeve and sticks). Great videos for watching and very educational. Is the same procedure?

    Hi Kevin, after 3 years, I have tried it again, at got to the point of putting back everything together, but for some reason, the gearbox doesn't want to go back to its place. I have checked the correct positioning of the clutchplate, I am using exactly the same kit you are in the video, verified the cog count, and used the centre tool as you did. I have tried to match it with an extra jack and tried to move it back and forth but still won't click in, the driver-side driveshaft just gets in and I can turn the wheel like you do in the video, you can see the rings moving on the other side. Do you have any suggestions on what to check or try? If I left the gearbox in neutral it wouldn't move the gear shaft inside, that was my last thought after giving it up before retrying it this weekend. Could you please help?

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  3 місяці тому +1

      You have to keep wiggling it in and spin the wheel with your leg.
      Otherwise for a smooth operation just remove that driveshaft.

      @WMCS  4 роки тому

    • @sp2181
      @sp2181 4 роки тому +1

      @@WMCS i dont think traffic is a major factor. People just prefer the auto over manual because it has lower maintenance cost. The cost of labour to do a clutch is in the $1500 for a corolla so people just fork out the extra few hundreds bucks and upgrade to the auto box.
      The are still petrol heads,racers, drifters who are still manual drivers but the vast majority done under would rather be in D at the lights than sitting there clutch in ready to launch like a bat out of hell.

    1. Is it always a must to remove the box completely from the vehicle or is it just roomier to do so to replace the clutch assembly?

    3. How many days do you rest after such an undertaking?

      you don’t have to remove the gearbox completely as long as you’ve got enough room to your discretion to safely remove and install the clutch.
