@@johnnolan5579 yeah I defo didnt see it coming. He’s not had a single nom since he won in 2003 and now he could potentially win again 21 years later hahaha wild!
Would absolutely love to see Guy Pearce finally get his due at the Oscar’s. The man is a fantastic actor. Can’t wait to see The Brutalist even more now thanks to your encouraging review Luke.
Lead actor is gearing up to be the craziest race this year I’m imagining. Between Domingo, Craig, Fiennes and Phoenix being big players at the start and then Chalamet surprise entering, then Stan against all odds being an actual contender and now Brody giving an all timer, I’m so curious who all makes it in the five and who has the narrative and stronger film to win it. I honestly don’t have a predicted winner personally but I’m certainly super invested in this race. I’ve so far only seen Domingo in Sing Sing who’s fantastic in it but I’m excited to see all the competition within the coming months.
Mate I’ve just found you. You got something here. I trust you. You are now up there with The Oscar Bros and Film Drunk. Keep it up. Will keep watching.
Guy Pearce is one of my favorite actors working (and I honestly think, he's one of our best). What a charismatic chameleon, he's like if if you cross Sam Rockwell with Keanu Reeves. 😂 I'd love for him to get his first Oscar-nomination. PS: One Letterboxd-review for this simply said "There Will Be Blood as done by Werner Herzog". S-O-L-D. 😮😂
@@singstreetcar5881 she’s defo got a shot at the nom. Not sure about Winnie yet but tbf I think supporting actress may be the most open of the acting categories. Unless Gaga crushes it as Harley Quinn and campaigns supporting x
not offence but who cares about oscars anymore. No great movie will submit to their DEI requirements. Only the most compromising works will win. Propaganda especially. Oscars are anti art.
I have watched you on and off over some time, but had never left a comment. But I've got to say: I LOVE YOU for doing this Venice series of reviews!!! 🙏🏼 I moved from the States to Guatemala City recently, and people such as yourself are helping me keep in touch with the new films and therefore the Oscars, when the time comes. Please do this every year 🙏🏼
I get massive ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA/LAWRENE OF ARABIA/GONE WITH THE WIND/BEN-HUR vibes not only in terms of runtime, but also in terms of epic scope. I think this will get a few nominations regardless of the final outcome.

Adrian brody He makes exactly same supject in the pianist... and he took oscar for it. Why he makes same subject in new film about jewish broblems. He reapet his self again. If they change the actor maybe we watch new thing in film Thank you for first look♥♥❤❤
But it’s about different stories. In the pianist it was about surviving and in the Brutlaist it’s about trauma and coming to America. The fact that he plays in both a holocaust survivor doesn’t mean his performance is going to be the same
I like your reviews, but man that movie sound boring as hell 😂 I used to care about the OSCARS , but not anymore… Hollywood is dying out from repeating itself, everything it seems played out already… the same themes over and over again… Holocaust… the American dream 🤪 it’s dray season already

It's funny how actors like Brody who seem like they will never get another Oscar chance can truly make a startling comeback.

Brody is a wonderful actor. I’m so glad he’s having a kind of comeback😊
I know many people are making this comparison already, but I'm more excited for The Brutalist than Megalopolis.

Pay attention to felicity Jones.

The fact Guy Pearce has never been nominated is a travesty. He's been brilliant for decades. L.A Confidential and Memento are his biggest snubs.

Hey! you covering any of the French In Competition films ? (The Quiet Son, His Three Friends)
Any idea when it will come out?
Will you watch "I'm Still Here"?
I def want to watch this but it sounds like it will be a challenge
Do you remember Brady Corbett in Mysterious Skin?
I know him from 13
I want to like this, but what worries me is that I can't stand Brutalist architecture!
I think you included a bit too much information here. I didn't know about the heroin use from other reviews.
Adrian Brody's mom is Hungarian. Accent gonna be real...
