I knew this was going to be polarizing, as all Burroughs works are going to be so tricky to adapt. I do hope to see Craig get an Oscar nomination, but looks like Best Picture is probably a no. And that's okay. I'm still really looking forward to seeing it 😊

To me, if a film like this wasn't called "divisive," something would be terribly wrong. It's because of the divisive nature that I'm so excited to see it! Lol!

It will be interesting to see whether Craig will become only the 2nd ever James Bond actor to be nominated for an acting Oscar, after Sean Connery (who WON on his only ever nomination (Best Supporting Actor for THE UNTOUCHABLES)).

As someone who has read the book it's great (to me at least) to hear that Luca has kept it as alienating and as abstract as the original text is, makes me very curious to see what he cooked up even more now lol. Also unrelated but did you see the Nightbitch trailer? I'll just say I was never predicting Amy Adams and for good reason 😂.

    • @LukeHearfield
      @LukeHearfield  Місяць тому +5

@@zachrincon327 it’s lovely cause guadignino actually has the title card in the film say “William s boroughs Queer” - what a class act to champion the author in your own movie like that. He must really love the book.
As for nightbitch, not yet, I’ve been busy editing all afternoon and I know I’m gonna watch nb so I try not to watch trailers nowadays so I can go in as a blank slate 😁❤️

Did you watched Im Still Here? Is a Brazilian film that also premiered at Venice, I’m biased for being Brazilian but most of the reviews are praising Fernanda Torres’ performance and she’s a previous Best Actress winner at Cannes so everyone here in Brazil is getting hyped about her chances in the awards season (Specially since her mother Fernanda Montenegro was the first and still the only Brazilian actress to ever be nominated for best actress at the Oscars in 1999 for Central Station, and this film is from the same director Walter Salles)

The reviews have been amazing so far, so I am surprised you said it was divisive. I have a strong feeling Daniel Craig will get the acting awards from this, just based on the tiny clip we've seen and the reviews so far.

    Nothing new in this story.
    Film makers
Still make gay life sooo shalllow.
And they make oldfashioned story about romance btween gays... without big or new or deep supject of gays life.
    Queer
One of the films make same this again and dont go far from this circle...
    Queer dont creative anything diffrent.
    So the film sooo normal..
    Dont talk about gays problems.
All of gays film tipical same.

As always they love to see gay male characters suffer for entertainment and luca loves doing that which im not surprised about considering irl he is just your regular homophobic bisexual men who use gay men as emotional punching bags and the fact that whole world aside from a few gay men can’t see it is telling on the state of how acceptance to gay men is very limited, its like they have to pay for they joy. Even the fact that this title is a homophobic slur that everyone somehow feels comfortable using is significant.
Can’t the character be gay without a story focusing on that to denigrate it.
