- In this video, we will show how to change the cabin air filter in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 Toyota RAV4.
Cabin air filter replacement will ensure that you have clean and fresh air in your cabin, free of harmful pollutants, pollen, and dust.
We suggest checking the cabin air filter every year. Replace the filter at least every two years or 30000 miles.

Loved your video. You showed how simple it is to change the filter. As an 82 year old female, after watching your video, even I was able to do it.
I am sitting at a dealership as I am typing this for my last scheduled maintenance. The customer rep notifies me that the technician says the cabin filter is very dirty and needs to be replaced. Asking $109 to do it.
Had a feeling it was something simple and not costing nearly as much to do.

I just paid the dealer $55 for replacement filter and installation. Replacements for my Rav4 are $24 online. Next time, I'll do it myself, thanks to your video. Now I just need to research how to keep critters from nesting in the filter.

At dealership now. 2022 Toyota Rav4 for 40,000 mile service. I declined replacement of my cabin air filter. They wanted $71.95 for less than a minutes worth of work. I understand prices going up but come on. $10 - $30 at autoparts store depending what one you want. Easy video showing replacement.
MSRP on the filter is 40 dollars at the dealership.
I tell them to bang it on the bench a couple of time and put it back - just to see their faces.

Wow, a five minute easy project. My Fords take a half hour of laying down sideways on the passenger side and then having to use a torx bit that I use for nothing else.

My 2019 cover is white and the filter I got was “just the filter”. I popped out the factory filter from the plastic carrier and fitted the new filter in the carrier then slid it back in.

Anywhere from 15000 to 30000 miles. A lot will depend on environment you are driving in. I would visually inspect it once a year.
Just be sure to check for cracks in the white plastic hinge that is back inside the cabin air filter box on the left side. Ours split without warning and Toyota refuses to cover it asking for 4k for a new air box. This seems to be a build quality issue with the thin plastic in our 2022 RAV4. Very disappointed for a car with just over 20k miles.

It’s slightly different than the Camry. The only difference is you have to actually bring down the glove compartment all the way on the Rav4 whereas the Camry, you don’t have to remove anything other than the filler cover. That’s it.

Hi. I felt smell of dust in the interior. Even though, I've recently changed an air cabin filter but I'm still feeling the same scent. What's a reason? Thank you.
When you use the AC, condensation can form in the HVAC system. If the water stays there mold and bacteria can grow. This will create a bad smell. To prevent it, you can turn off the AC and let the fans work for a few minutes before turning the car off. It is also a good idea to check if the condensation drain hose located under the vehicle is clogged.

I’m stuck on 0:15. When I insert my right pointer finger between the parallel planes, there is no give and the plastic doesn’t swing down as shown. I don’t want to break anything. What should I do? Should I be adjusting anything on the other side with my left hand? Thanks much.

Sorry but you left out the trickiest bit - shoving the new filter into the tray and discerning "air flow" direction. The filters are "one-way" and apparently it's the opposite of "up"? When I say shove I mean the replacement filter I purchased did not go in smoothly. I'm assuming because it was cheaply manufactured by some greedy corporation serving it's bottom line, not it's customers. But I digress...

Yes, you do. We did not explicitly demonstrate the left-side claw in this video. But once you start removing the glove box you will feel that it needs to be pushed in as well.
