I always hear that TOOL are the only ones with rhythm guitar, rhythm vocals and lead drums. In my opinion, however, it is Justin's bass, which moves from one extreme of roles to the other depending on the song, that gives such a unique characterization to their music.
You should listen to wings for Marie part one and two. Even if you don’t react to it(even though I hope you do) it’s a tribute to his mother Judith Marie and it’s kind of anti church and questions a higher being because his mom was in a wheelchair 10,000 days and a lot of things he saw her go through he disliked and considers her one of the greatest most religious people ever. He didn’t even want to perform them and put them out because they’re so personal and difficult to keep it together performing. I believe you will love these songs and truly appreciate them.
I would recommend "The Pot" next if you haven't already. Pushit is also a good one and they have an amazing live version of it as well. Every one of their songs have something to appreciate about it.
I love that you went along and enjoyed the music rather then the lyrics video. I think the lyrics to this song are absolutely worth a deep dive, but on a first listen you should definetly focus on the musicianship itself.
Don't take the Jungian stuff too seriously though, Maynard's only using it as a metaphor, one possibility or example of his aesthetic. It was the belief in the 1940s that certain human cultures had fewer chromosomes, but that was incorrect.
Possibly the worst lyric video right after all the other awful Tool lyric videos. Good rule of thumb is to only watch the audio only videos from Tool's UA-cam page as everything else is suspect.
This particular lyric video is annoying. It explains an interpretation of the song that the band has never chosen to spell out, and may or may not be correct. Gets in the way of the experience.

Yeah. It's really like tribal drumming with rock band instrumentation...just creating a trance.
If you love guitar you'll love " 7empest " by Tool!
I think the Tool Army has a new recruit.
You should check out more Tool songs. You really can't go wrong with any one you choose
Tool is exceptional. Check out “The Pot”. Another common reaction video is “Pneuma” live with the Daney Carey drum cam.
He already did the drum cam fyi.
You got it. Tool doesn't play the same thing over and over. At least they make it their own thing.

It’s always the pot! Why not Jimmy? Or Hush?

this tune leaves me cold.
Great song, but I hate that lyric video with randomly capitalized words😅
