Thank you for sharing! 🤗 we moved here in the West Midlands to a new build and decided to have a minimalist garden, so a large patio, a lower seating area we refer to as either below deck or sundowner! I’ve purchased a palm and desperate not to kill it! My husband calls me the Rose West of the horticultural world 🤦♀️ ! I’ve also got a Borgenvillia plant that seemed to ‘shrink’ plus a Clematis who also died off of fright, so I cut them back and they’re now thriving! Needing help to buy more plants suitable for pots…. Oh dear I’ve woffled enough. I’ll be watching your post with great interest! Thanks Liz
Hello Liz, I hope you have settled in well at your new home. Sadly, your bougainvillaea won't do too well in the UK. It's not warm enough over the summer, and the cold will kill it off over the winter. That's not your fault. It's garden centres selling inappropriate plants! It's all about money now rather than providing and advising on the right plant. Research your plants first and consider choosing ones with the RHS award of garden merit as these have been trialled for robustness. Also, the biggest killer of plants is over watering! As a very general rule. Allow the top couple of inches to dry out before watering. Some may need more, and some will need less, but check requirements online. Good luck, Simon
Hi there, start them in the spring so they are ready to pot on and harden off after the last frosts have passed. That way you will have the whole growing season to put on some decent size. Simon

When is the best time to start ricinus from seed? And is it too take to transplant from pot into the garden a camelia that already has buds set?
