  • Discover with me what Portugal has to offer 🇵🇹😍
This time we chose to explore the wonderful area of Lousã. Discovering the schist stone villages, Casal Novo, Talasnal and Chiqueiro, as well as the castle of Lousã. Walking through magnificent landscapes, blessed by sunshine and mystical fog, all on an adventurous trail with some steep inclines 😅
And as a little bonus material: we drove past Serpins to the walking track „Cerro da Candosa“ to enjoy some more breathtaking views.
See for yourself! This may be an idea for your next vacation or hiking trip 😊 Enjoy! 💚
We followed a combination of the PR1 and PR2 trail. More information about it here:

It is a true privilege to walk through such a beautiful area! And not least having the stamina and youth to overcome, with a beautiful smile, the most difficult parts of this wonderful trail.

If you are planing to come north you have to visit Gerês National Park in Minho ( northwest) and Montesinho Park in Trás-os-Montes ( northeast).

That area with all the chopped trees was a beautiful pine forest just a year ago. Greedy companies of loggers and lack of proper action by the authorities resulted on the destruction of a big part of the Lousã Mountain Forest.

Iris, those cut down trees are dammed eucaplitus which were bought back from austalia by the portuguese avigators.
Anyway, they are a terrible fire risk (oi) but they are like a cash crop….every 7 years or so they get cut mostly for paper. They pop right back up from the roots.
They smell great and all, but i hate those trees. In addition NOTHING grows under them.
