I'm a petite 77 year young grandmother! I don't ever let my age stop me from looking stylish. I'm only 5'1" tall and at this point in time I hate the fact that I'm 10 to 15 pounds over weight. On my small frame and height that makes a big difference. I'm going to try to correct that very soon.
I prefer a casual, more sporty style of dressing. Skinny jeans are my favorite article of clothing. I love vests especially sporty vests. My favorite purchase this fall is a olive green quilted vest with a heathered gray hoodie. I like to wear it with booties, short sherpa lined Ugg or a cute sneaker. I guess you could call my style as lumberjill meaning a female lumberjack. Lol I'm thankful that my church welcome's all styles of dress. From a dressy dress to my quilted vest, uggs and jeans. That's my style and I'm sure that Jesus isn't judging me on my clothes.

If I live to be 100 I hope that I never stop caring about my appearance.

I am 34 with three children. I’ve never been into crop tops or the teenager, show everything you have look. Thank you for having a channel that caters to stylish concepts catered toward a woman’s body. It’s hard to find a channel for us mature folks.

Great tips! My favourite way to look slimmer is called “column of color”. It’s when you wear all one color head to toe but then add a contrasting coat or sweater. It works the same as ‘paneling’ or using a duster cardigan, but it doesn’t have to be duster length. Really like your channel.

Another tip - add some structure to a cardigan with shoulder pads (no, not the huge ones of the 80's!). I recently bought some from Amazon that are soft, undetectable, and make such a difference to the way the cardi/duster hangs. By adding to the shoulder, the waist, hips both look smaller, and for someone that is short (5'1"), with sloping shoulders, this is a must! Thank you for the tips!

BTW - The boot cut jeans definitely make me feel thinner. I got some recently at Walmart that are great and I'm wearing them today. Feel less frumpy when I wear them. Love you both and thank you for being so classy and keeping us looking good!

I live in south Florida and layer frequently… look for sheer lightweight dusters/kimonos, sleeveless long vest (actually just got a pretty one from Express), also a thin light weight scarf is great for a layered effect

It's a strange thing, really... for many years, a frequent piece of advice given to women over 40 and who were slightly overweight, was to lower the waistline! Now, all of a sudden, many you tubers are telling us to wear the belt higher on the waist. On me, it just looks awful!. It's actually a matter of proportions, and it's really not the right advice for every woman. It will make your belly look bigger, your upper torso look shorter, which is also something that makes you look older! It's especially bad if you have broad shoulders and bigger arms, because it makes your upper body look boxier. At the moment, everyone on the internet is coming up with this "great idea", so I do hope that there will be some debate/criticism that will help us move to a better solution!

Yes I love boot cut jeans. Jeans that are shorter or cropped at the ankle just tend to make even tall women look short and heavier. Love duster cardigans. They do make one look taller and thinner. Love your great suggestions.

Re: duster cardigans. The example you showed would have been even more slenderizing and lengthening if the cardigans were shortened about 4 inches (or to just at the knee).
We love the mid-length cardigans as well but find these dusters with heels to be very slimming.
At 5’3” and fairly petite, I agree, a little shorter is better. I wonder if this is a body type thing because the really long cardigans overwhelm me and make me look short-which is not slimming and elongating. The long cardigans do look great on these ladies though.

Ooh I belt at the empire waist too! I love wearing belts as an rectangular shape but my natural waist carries some mommy weight. I’ve been putting my belts higher and it feels so much more natural and much more flattering for me!

A nice vertical stripe on the outside of jeans or lounge wear elongate the leg. Avoid pockets on those duster cardigans. Pockets bring attention to the hips.

Wow! I'm happy I found your channel! Question about skinny jeans and shapewear, my jeans always feel like there are sliding down. I'm constantly pulling jeans up. The shapewear I wear is a light support brief. Thank you!
Yes, that can definitely happen especially with Lycra in the jeans & support wear underneath. I find that jeans with less stretch (99 percent cotton) stay in place better & are thick enough to not need any shapewear. You may want to try some.
