There was a moment in the mid 90's when underground dance music was truly magic, long before the industry became an endless factory line of uninspired growling bass lines! Rabbit In The Moons Out Of Body Experience encapsulates that time period. The addition of the piano sample from the Tori Amos classic, Precious Things adds an ethereal component but the true magic comes when Tori's scream haunts the track and exudes the feeling that her voice has existed through all space and time! At the turn of the century, the underground dance scene gave way to trendy candy kids and fashionistas, gone were the days when kids showed up to these parties in baggy grungy clothes with the sole intent of expressing themselves under the strobe! Sincerely, That kid who shredded the dance floor so hard that his soul left his body, then spent the rest of the night sitting Indian style on a beer soaked floor, trippin out with his cigarette in existential contemplation, and who couldn't give a shit what anyone thought of him!
I somewhat agree with the sentiment. Everything seemed so much better back in the days. The music seemed better, but some amazing tracks get released now. I just dont get to feel the beat reverberate through my rib cage by standing in front of a 100 k sound system. Which made the great tracks of yesteryear seem so much better, especially in reminisce mode. This track rabbit in the moon is one of my favourites, ever, along with welcome to the factory and so many more tbh. Clubs where our churches. The music was our religion, and it was hands in the air, not effin phones. Amen
This used to be one of my favorite shows of all time at the State Palace Theater in New Orleans, LA back in the day. Back when everything was so innocent... People weren't dying by the droves and the Feds wasn't shutting every party down... I got backstage one time after Rabbit in the Moon was over and Electric Skychurch was playing and let's just say it was a mighty fine time. Disco Donnie was putting on some good shows back at the Palace. That was the happiest times in my life. Rest in Peace ✌ State Palace Theatre....
Yo. This songs special to me. I danced with angels that disappeared in front of a bunch of people. At a rave scott hardkiss was spinning. This songs transcendental. He was a medium for sure. Rip
R.I.P. Charlie Cooper Josh Eustis, keep up the energy you and Charlie created. I know it will never be the same without Charlie but........... Charlie and I, the 2 Fresh Princes of Bellaire, WOODMERE, HARVEY, LOUISIANA
Mark Johns old old old friend from the days, brilliant as usual as one would only expect . Hardkiss Brothers, I might as well just say brothers you pegged me hooked me riled my heart in the first time I heard you, your production live and recorded always spot on . The depth and life in the old tax and some remixes are still the best I have heard. I only mix vinyl still in 20 muth a f u nke 19, your tracks living or dead are in my record bag still to this day. SF 93 till infinity baby !!!
I remember seeing them live on the main stage back in the early 2000's at 1 of the last big rave festivals here in FL. It was at the Zephyrhills Fairgrounds. Unforgettable!!!
man up until like 2012 i had (before my hdd with the audio library went up in smokes)... had a mp3 320 and some lossless files... would run that through an amp and 7.1 for friends that would get drunk or... erm... relaxed at my place, with darkened lights... one of the best float tracks EVER imho... have a 7 minute fly through the universe. no agro, no stress.. just a plain chill... this track is an actual work of art!
It’s unmatchable . Florida encapsulated an amazing time in my world, surrounded by laser lights, amazing live performances and a nightlife that can’t be beat
Cool. This reminds me of Ralph Bakshi when he would take old footage taken of real stuff and layer if over animation... or did he put it under. OBE is a composition that was way ahead of its Cool World Time. And still so fresh today if not controversial to those who want to be contrived. Love the Phoenix. Rest in peace to all our loved ones we wish were still here
