  • Removing Aiptasia Using Superglue | How to Remove Aiptasia from Coral - MR BRIGHTFRYED
Recently I discovered aiptasia growing on one of my zoa corals and wasn't too sure what the best way was to remove it. I've read online about a few different ways and solutions but all suggested using an aiptasia killer. I have a box at home but when reading the instructions it mentioned that it was best to avoid using any products if on a coral so I took to the internet once more and someone suggested to try the method of using superglue to kill the aiptasia from the coral which at first I was a little confused but after giving it a go I was blown away at how much it had helped me. Definite life hack to try out if you need to know how to remove aiptasia from corals.
    Enjoy!

Thanks yeah they are great when they go well but can be pricey if something goes wrong. Definitely worth looking into. If you haven't already check out episode 2 of my podcast. It might help 😉

Thank you. It's been a couple of weeks since I filmed this video and has worked a treat. Nothing has grown back or spread 👍

If you are able to remove the coral like you did on the frag plug, scrape it off with razor blade of scalpel. Superglue works great when you are unable to remove what they are attached to. 👍 Just realized this video is 3 years old but it popped up on my suggested list. 🤣

      Same here 😆 Good O’nUA-cam Algorithm, but it’s a great idea 🙂

Do you have to use a super glue made for corals or can you use any brand?

Any aquarium glue would probably be best as with this method you are generally applying it underwater and these are a sort of gel so easier to apply. I can't say for sure normal glue would work but I'm sure someone does it.

@@MrBrightfryed thank you so much for your reply. It's very helpful. 2 of the TINY aiptasia I have are actually on my zoa polyps.. the zoas are closed and the 2 aips are on the shaft/stem of 2 different polyps. Idk what to do about those two, they're actually on the flesh of the coral. The third aip is bigger than the other two and at the base of the frag where it meets with the plug.. Any suggestions or am I in over my head here? It's a new frag btw, and I got the aips by them hitchhiking onto the new frag. I just wanna save them before the aiptasia kills them. I k ow I can use super glue for the bigger one at the base but how do I get the two baby/tiny aips to move off the coral so I can get them without hurting the coral? I know you may not have the answers I'm looking for but I figured I would ask. Lol
