I'm very thankful for your video. I would have never gotten mine fixed without it. I was missing the part that you said fell out. I would not have known that without your video. Thanks again you saved me on this project
Thanks for this Video! , I just opened a can of worms on an older GM step van Steering Column assy I am working on, it has this same Dimmer/Bright actuator switch. this has helped so much as some of the parts are missing for the one I am working on.
Just did this last night and definitely a pain in the ass but finally got it and everything works great again. Such a stupid little piece of plastic....
Nice clear video of the parts involved and I know that you would have liked to have shown exactly how it went back together but it was impossible. Thanks to your video though I know that if I keep trying with patients it can go back together. I have the thick gm shop manual for my 90 Astro (the parts involved look exactly like yours) but the book leaves assembly of this part out. A few tries and and more light and I got it. Thanks again.
I did break that plastic housing that the linkage slides Through. Fixed it with Jb weld . If anybody has a remanufactured part let me know where to get it...
Watch out for the bottom end (at the brake pedal) of the metal rod. The switch itself is located down there. The rod popped out while I was fiddling with the steering column. The lever was stuck. Easy to pop back in.
Use a flat screwdriver from the top where the steering wheel comes on, into the Hole to hold the spring and the plastic part togheter, and then place on the cover, only problem is that the spring slites of the plastic part to the side when you try the switch back and forwards, wich doesn’t make any sence 🤷♂️ maybe a metal holder to stabilise the spring perhaps, idfk
So I got your email and looked at your picture and I can't remember where that part goes and I cant find it on my diagram. My guess is it has something to do with that turn signal switch, where the plastic housing rotates as you use the turn signals.
i pulled my stupid fing rod out of the switch so its to far toward steering wheel and will only go in that direction and not towards going back into the switch :(
I watched 5 or 6 videos on how to do this but yours was hands down the clearest, thank you sir!
Glad it helped. That's why I made the video, because it was a pain in the a$$
Thank you, I’m currently addressing this specific issue!

Very well done dude. Thanks for the video😊
Glad it helped
Really , really , really many thanks !
Thanks helped me out bunch
How do you get the rod to stay in place, I’m struggling to keep it on the switch further in the column and putting these pieces in without falling 😭

Thank you 10x!!
To dim or go to bright, do you just pull the arm toward yourself? I was afraid to pull very hard.
Yeah. Just click towards you. Not real hard.
Good video
I have the same thing on my 1990 d150 this should help me

I have found a spring , it’s from that part ?
I don't think so. I think I remember a spring that went down in a hole but I don't know where
Honestly I try to forget this entire project. I'll never take one of these columns apart again. Lol
@@revolverguy I’ll send you a mail. Many thanks for all
I am driving right now, ill get back to you as soon as I can.

@@revolverguy lmfao.. My bolts came lose for the tilt so it all had to come a part. Going back together is not fun.
