i've been screaming about hybrid trackers for years! You can use the imu and accelerometer part for most of the tracking and just ping a light house or optical (self tracked) part every so often to prevent drift... the imu offer better battery and oclusion immunity, while the light house part offers acurate tracking and drift immunity. You could even make the light house part ping for data more or less frequently based on the amont of movement data from the imu so in high intensity/movement activities, it get more acurate and reliable... a place where imu's really struggle.
So would I. Something like the old Oculus Rift, that used actual camera tracking. Thous should work fine for the outside part of it. All in all, I had been thinking about something just like the EXCAP, only with stationary outside camera tracing (2 or 3 cameras) to keep one from needing to calibrate any IMU you may have on. And that is all the outside cameras would be used for, near constant re-calibration.

The camera doesn't need light, it only looks for the LEDS of the trackers, it actually has its exposure turned all the way down. Also there less bulky than SlimeVR, and also just as jittery. I couldn't find OVR Smooth Tracking so I couldn't turn it on.
I'm a bit concerned by how much tracking jitter there is in this video, it looks like your limbs are constantly snapping into position. Is this how it actually is or is that just vrchat being weird?
It's mostly my PC's performance, most IMU tracking algorithms have this jitter, but it's actually smoothed by VRChat, so other players will not see it! Also, if you want to smooth it locally, you can always use OVR Smooth Tracking! [I think that's what it's called]

The biggest difference between the camera calibration and reset yaw is that the camera calibration have the ability to get the trackers' position and toward.
