    Seeing Baltimore presented like this rather than just used as a setting for crime dramas and drug documentaries is still wild to me as a Baltimorean. I'm grateful to Common and everyone involved for using the city to tell a story of blackness that doesn't demonize said blackness for entertainment and agendas.

    Thank you Common for being one of the very few artists that has always remained conscious and aware of social injustices. Such a humble and beautiful spirit. Never stop doing what you do best, and that's making amazing music✌🏾️

      They're pretty much just all catching up to what Common (and others like him: Erykah Badu, The Roots, etc...) BEEN on all this time! It's just that being a social justice warrior (on the internet) is the cool (and easy) thing to do now. I just wish that Common gets the recognition (and album sales) that he's always DESERVED for speaking the SAME TRUTH that he's ALWAYS publicly shared.

    • @heyalun
      @heyalun 7 років тому +6

      There has been conscious music as long as there's been music. It's all about what you're listening to and exposed to. If you're listening to your "urban" pop music station you're hearing garbage meant to keep people blind

    Today is March 15th 2020 at about 10:03 p.m. and I have watched this video Everyday since it first came out. This is so much more than a music video, the imagery of all these beautiful black children and to see the sisters Conjuring up the ancestors was a beautiful thing!

    I stand with you brothers and sisters. Next time we walk across each other, I hope you see my peoples struggle as well. That we are all in desperate need to love each other.

      ***** I'm not assuming anything I'm just enlighten him as I was. Maybe by informing people will lead them to look into it as I did, not shaming anyone I to used that term as so many others do.
