@@identitymatrix The bones most likely still remain. Since they are in the Baltic, they will decay much longer than in the Atlantic or Pacific. There are bones that surround the wreck of the Swedish warship Mars which went down in 1564.
Beautiful video and I like the text of memorial which the diver attached to Estonia. Rest in Peace all people who perished that day. I remember it because we went to school and our teacher read a poem when she told what had happened.❤️
Why hasn't any diving material been published on the actual car deck? The ship was notoriously departed a quarter late and the last few army trucks were driven to the car deck. Some dive revealed that the railings of the ramp had been removed and they were lounging on the seabed. No one has probably dived to do that for no reason.
Any military material on the ship has already been removed from the site in question, that's why the side railings were cut off and removed, they are stacked on the sea bed next to the ship, also the ramp itself has been removed and is leaning against the ship...
@@roneystapes Right, the sensitive material has certainly been lifted. One of these has apparently been some suitcase that would have been in Captain Avo Piht’s cabin. Someone was tasked with picking up that particular suitcase. It would still be interesting to know if it is true that there are a couple of army trucks on board. It could be tricky to verify, as they are probably right at the stern.
@@Baroquean Customs officials have confirmed unofficially that military trucks were indeed on board, seems to have been quite the routine on Estonia, perhaps these vehicles were chopped up and removed as well, many sources claim that the "cars" found inside the ship look to be broken or deformed. Everything about this case is suspect, missing people, people dying of mysterious heart attacks etc, governments agreeing to dump rocks and concrete to bury the ship, eye witness accounts that change and or are destroyed, the list goes on and on, one thing we can be sure of is that military and political concerns come first, human life is secondary, these innocent victims were simply collateral damage...

@Sami Sund You're free to dive around there, unless you're from Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Denmark, Russia and the United Kingdom (copied from Wikipedia) as they're in a treaty to let the ship be left alone.
@Sami Sund I didn't say it was morally right, or that everyone should do it. I said that it's technically legal for everyone outside the treaty to go there and dive. The coastguard can get however pissed they want at you, it isn't illegal. Morally wrong, absolutely. Illegal, no.
There are apparently a lot of remains on the sea bed, but the bones will eventually dissolve as the sea has not much Calcium in it and so leeches this from the bones.
I imagine that how long skeletal remains last depend on the PH of the water for one thing. Water temperature and oxygen levels may be another factor. But sooner or later time and natural processes will win out.
No there won't be anything other than skeletal remains now, bodies break down very fast in water. My ex used to work for Blake Emergency Services, and he's done many body removals from the sea. The skin literally peels off after a week. The skin absorbs water and then peels away from the underlying tissues then of course fish, crabs and sea lice etc will nibble away at the flesh. Because the waters are so cold there, bodies don't tend to bloat and float, as they call it. So the cold will mean less gas building up from the bacteria, this will be a reason for them staying on the seabed. So very sad that this still hasn't had a proper inquest into the accident!! God bless all those poor souls, may they rest in piece.
something is very fishy about this incident. send down private divers and see if you can get some proper answers. maybe they can see / find something wich has been supressed by the goverment.. seems to be alot of people asking alot of questions also around this incident. anyhow may the victims Rest in peace

Carl Eric Reintamm did arrive the promenade deck 1 till 2 minutes after the loud 2 or 3 bangs that happened between ca. kl. 01.02 or 01.05. According to JAIC the bow visor fell of the ship around kl. 01.16. So the 2-3 big bangs, water on deck 1, and the following starboard listing did happen ca. 10-15 minutes before the separation of the bow visor! That is pretty strange, because that means that the sekvens of happenings did indeed start approximum 12-15 minutes before the car ramp could have let all the water inn on the car deck. That brings the questions on why the water came in on deck 1, and why the ship listed before the ramp fell down and the visor separated from the ship !? Reintamm did see something in the water that left the ship backwards to the left app. 10 minutes before the separation of the bow visor. Assuming that Reintamm looked backwards to the left from starboard promenade deck point of view, the thing in the water most likely could have hit the starboard side of the ship before the separation of the visor, and the opening of the ramp. If Reintamm speaks truth it clearly proves without any shadow of a doubt that the specific time of the the 2-3 loud bangs, the inlet of the water on deck 1, followed by the with 30 degrees starboard listing a few minutes later, that this sekvens of events clearly happened before the separation of the visor and the downfall of the ramp........
PRR5406 They considered taking Estonia up but for some reason idea was turned down. The ship is bedded on bottom only some 60 meters deep and was/is easy to take up to surface if wanted. They also talked about concrete coating as like to seal it like a mausoleum but not happened. They wanted to keep the exact location of the wreck site secret but at least diving community in Finland has it commonly known.

The best way to hide all dirty plans, not to let nobody to aproach to ship. What about relatives of those who lost their live on this ship, i think they deserves to know the true. It is inadmissible that legendary Titanic has more video and more mysteries are discovered why it sanked and count that it is at 3700m underwater and is much more expensive to dive to it. I think people a real investigation should happen with good quality video of footage of Estonia in our days in memory of those who lost their lives on this ship.
You need some pretty big balls to even consider going down there. I am diving all my life, not professionally though, but i would not go down there by any means.
I remembered the news that day. All from the beginning. Why did it sunk really. Very very mysterious story. From beginning they wanted to cover the whole ship in concrete. Ehh why? Swedens Primeminister promised to take up the dead. Couple of days he was silent as a mussle. Very suspicious... I checked also the history. I have travel with that boat. Erlier it was a Viking Line ship called Viking Sally I think. I was traveling between Kapellskär to really don't remember I was 11 I think Helsinki or maybe Turku (Åbo in Swedish). I was 22 the year of the accident. The ship was also between Viking Sally and Estonia under another flag, southamerican, I'm old don't remember but I think so. And there was the paper that said. THIS SHIP IS NOT ALLOWED TO SAIL THIS AND THIS DISTANCE FROM LAND. That was why Viking Line problaby sold it because they discovered the safety was not in place. So the ship was sold with a restriction, they have to be near a coastline. That paper was "lost" and then it went in Estonian hands. And it hit a storm and was far away from coast. Which it was not allowed to be.
@Donkeye Ik but there was an illegal dive there not too long ofter it's sinking, to film a documentary. And the ones filming got jailed or something like that. There for I wanted to know if this was that dive...
I have read that the professional divers that made the first dives got a no on renovering bodies because that would be to traumatic for them. Of course someone at a goverment desk knows bettet the limit of professionals then themself.

Must be very eerie to swim in a ship that has close to 800 bodies still inside, let alone come across any human remains. Someone pointed at 0:45 as being some but I can't see anything that suggests that it is.
You will not find any bodies there anymore. But yes it is kinda creepy.

Could there still be bodies down there, or have have they been completely dissolved in the water?
xD
There are apparently a lot of remains on the sea bed, but the bones will eventually dissolve as the sea has not much Calcium in it and so leeches this from the bones.
+Simon Watts In other words no closure for the families.

Now is the time for the relatives to hand a list of all the relevant questions to 7 Parliaments. ANSWER NOW. 26 YEARS TOO LATE.

I'm actually surprised it hasn't been salvaged. Depth must be 200-300 feet? Cold, too. Not a pretty place to be.
PRR5406
They considered taking Estonia up but for some reason idea was turned down.
Jaska8000 The divers will know it before anyone, other than perhaps, the fishermen. Dumb idea to cover it in concrete; expensive and totally impractical. Wreck removal at this time would be publicly unpopular. Let is rest and collapse like the "Andrea Doria".

Correct
I was hoping to see the cars and truck onboard that is underwater when they went inside the ship.
Estonia Estonia😢😢😢

This specific boat was built to float even if it take's in water. The cardeck is isolated to the rest of the boat, it is specially made for accidents like this and if it would happen the boat will float and not sink becus of the high amount of compressed air inside. But if you put an explosive on the outside of the boat where the air is, the boat will sink just like it did if the explosion is put on the right place.
