Exclusive video !
M/S Estonia was a cruise-ferry, the biggest cruise ferry in Estonian country, symbolize the independance of Estonia after the exURSS. She's was a capacity of 2000 passengers and 460 vehicules, with 9 decks, 2 for car deck, 5 for passagers, 2 for crews. Lenght 155 meters, large 24.5 meters, speed 21 knts.
She's sink in the Baltic Sea in a routine travel between Tallinn to Stockholm the 28th september 1994, sink in approximately 30-40 minutes , at 1:40 a.m. 852 passengers dead.
Today, 18 years after the sinking, we don't know exactely why she's sank, the investigation said its cause to a big wave broke the bow visor, and water enter to the cardeck, but this official rapports is not sure, because many proof says other... and a lot of document and conspiracy said Estonia reserve for the transport of arms URSS illegaly....
RIP ESTONIA
In memory of all passengers and crew dead in the sinking of Estonia 28th september 1994
Thanks to Estline.
If you read the official report with accounts from the survivors, it was a total nightmare scene as the ship slowing turning over and people were falling, crawling on walls and jumping over doorway openings to avoid falling in, being crushed by eachother and furniture, trying to drag themselves upwards on railings of stairs. Then if they were lucky enough to make it out, they faced the storm and freezing temperatures - life rafts flipping over from the wind multiple times, survival suits that fell to bits when they tried to wear them. If you survived you were strong, lucky, and probably scarred for life with PTSD.
True, but you don't have to read a report to know that. Watch the documentaries where the survivors explain themselves. The report likely has some bullshit in it as they're omitting facts according to the survivors.
And to make it worse, it was all in the dark
Yes I remember seeing the survivors on the buses afterwards and nearly everyone was a young fit male, 97% of women and children were just not strong enough to make it out, but I heard a lot of stories of people robbing people and throwing people of ladders to get out first etc ..
i was 8 years old when i travelled that ship. i remember it very well, my parents bought me a lego ship there. 20 years ago,. huh.. how time flies.
Yoo when I was 6 i took ship from Latvija to Estia and my parent bought me lego too
@@haderthanuthought405 what lego set was available there if u remember?

Im only 14 years old XD but my parentes closely booked a room
My parents have sailed on board many times, and last times was in August 1994
August, September holy
They were incredibly lucky
I`m now a 41 years old German. A closed friend from my school time, as i was 14 in 1994 and in the 7th class in the school, lost his Mom on that ship as his Mom was on a small holiday trip with her friend. He decide to stay in the uncles house in Germany, cause he dont want do this trip together with his Mom and her new friend. This decision save probably his life. As the news displays in the radio and TV about that sinking from the Estonia he come to me and reports me that. We both was sitting on the floor from the livingroom in front of the TV and was holding us in our arms and cry a lot of hours ... I will never forget these moments in my life. I cant describe here what we was feeling togehther ... so sad that all. And the time after with that political scandal and a Government which will hide probably military secrets or military accidents with a sub and the Estonia until now. So much death humans and all families of that cant find her silence. Normally I never comments such hard things, but these documentation from you give me hope for the future that anyone from that government or European Community decide to raise the Estonia that all bodies and families can find her piece. Thank you so much.
So sad man..i feel for you and your friend ..
Thank you so much to whoever uploaded this. Amazing to see footage of the ships interior and the people who worked there and sailed her, it means a lot to me to see this special footage. Very touching and sad... she was such a beautiful ship. Feel so sorry for all involved in this horrible accident...

@@wrighj i love when people call it conspiracy when in fact there is no such thing, that's what the media calls it, and that's what the people that watch media calls it. There are evidence that shows that the ship was used to transport military equipment by the higher ups witch you can watch here that involves the people working at the harbor at that time. ua-cam.com/video/l_p4lT7WJr4/v-deo.html even tho this is a big thing, the swedish goverment said not to do an new investigation, all other goverments aswell "Estland/Finland". you don't just silence the victims and then try to poor sement over a ship, a man or a women with normal IQ would find that to be very odd from the start. there has not been a clear in depth detailed investigation yet, sweden/finland/estland have more then enough money to take the bodys out, but if the goverment themselfs are involved, that will never happen untill the 70year contract have run out, witch would make everyone involved dead.

It`s so weird to think that all of that has been at the bottom of the baltic sea now for 20 years.. RIP all who died there!!!

abderaman alzemouri the swedes wants it to be their grave. Now its almost illegal to dive there.
@HENRI There is a big hole in the right side of the wreck. New mini series document about M/S Estonia showing us something different. This is the question? What happend realy in the past time. Because that time Ferry was sankd immediatly, only about for 55 minuts, normaly that's no possible no way

Everyone asks me what my biggest fear is and i always bring this exact story up. Particularly due to something i heard a guy mention on a documentary on this tragedy! The guy said "your survival rate depended on how fast you were and your location inside the ship". Which to me means that some people in the ship were automatically going to die due to their location no matter what. My fear is what those individuals had to witness leading up to their death. The thought of being trapped in the ship awake and alert while it slowly goes down absolutely terrifies me. Id like to think in my mind, that i would at least try my best to get out but of course you would never really know unless you actually were in it. Like the sounds of those stuck screaming, the ship groaning and making noise, to then lose all power and be in the pitch black just waiting for whatever is about to happen. I cant even imagine the terror they felt. Its like, you would almost rather be killed by falling objects just so you wouldn't have to go down alert with the ship if you had no way out. This is why this scenario is my biggest fear! To look at actual interior shots of the ship in this makes the story even that much more intense and sad! Rest easy to all those lost! 🙏
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Total blackness and no way to even crawl out of your cabin, poor people.
@@unclexeres its so terrifying! Its my biggest fear!
My biggest fear is this too. Girls simply would have no chance due to nature. They don't have the strength and people will walk over them. This is exactly what happened on the Estonia. Many women and girls simply never got to the deck because everyone walked over them. When it's everyone for themselves, as a woman you stand no chance.
There were many report of looters taking jewelry off passengers, even people taking life vests off others because they didn't have any. Many of these were women, and this is the main reason 97% of women died unfortunately. Most never got out of the ship, some never got a lifevest or theirs was stolen. The few who did get to the deck didn't have a raft or lifeboat as they were taken by the much faster people. The few women who managed to hold it out and end up in the water, often died of hypothermia or were taken by the waves. There were reports of people trying to use others as a way of staying afloat in the cold water as well.... I can't imagine the fear, knowing that you stand no chance simply because you're not strong or fast enough. I myself would probably give up and try to let my last moments be as peacefull as possible, instead of dying in constant fear and panic trying to avoid getting trampled or pushed aside.
Due to the heavy list and construction of the ships interior children, women and elderly had the hardest time reaching for the stairs and dragging themselves up floor by floor...some family members had to tragically say goodbye to their sons
who at least stood a chance of being able to save themselves by getting out from the ship.
The interesting thing is that a lot of survivors were from the deepest and farthest locations from the top in the bottom and front, because they were kept awake due to the heavy storm waves affecting them the most and they were also the closest to hearing the massive thuds when bow broke loose. If you were closer to the top, you might've only realized that something was wrong when the ship was already tilting close to 45 degrees, making it impossible to climb out.
my half uncle's (he was like an uncle to me and my sisters) daughter lost her life on m/s estonia. I'm very sad for his loss.
And my own dad was on this ship a year before it happened.
Rest in peace everyone who went down with this ship
That was sad to hear that.
Amazing but haunting footage. Thanks for sharing.
@ 1:00 I believe those are the ladders the divers found where the poor people left inside tried to get to the other decks when it capsized. My heart is with them because I can’t imagine the level of sheer horror those left inside alive had to endure RIP
That was a surreal and a sad sight, because the ship reminded me of a lot of ships that are still sailing the Baltic Sea today, and I've travelled with them several times. Took it a huge step towards reality.
That is actually true, the older ferrys that still are sailing, are not very different from what Estonia was. (Viking Line, Silja Line and Eckerö Line at least have these kind of ferrys in the baltic) The interior is not as much 80s and 90s but sometimes not too far. Newer and bigger ones have more and fancier stuff than the older simple ones. I think they also sail kind of close from where Estonia is resting. And they also sail in bad weather too, worse than what Estonia was in, that wasn't "a real storm" by sailors, though it was rough weather. But they should not be able to sink like this, at least anymore. Rip
Great video..next year 20 years. Never forget ms Estonia..
I saw a dream last night where I was on a passenger ship like this and then something happened and the ship got a 90 degrees list. I was in the rear and got into watet for a while but survived and then I woke up. I wonder if I see these dreams because I've watched so many Estonia videos these past few weeks
some good dive video of the initial investigation some of which i have not seen released before online . good find and thanks for sharing any other dive video would be appreciated

Yes this diving material must be from Swedish/Finnish navy divers diving the wreck of Estonia later on that autumn. They by the way stated that bodies were lying all over on seabend across the wreck. Still it was officially said that remains of the perished were tighty inside late M/S Estonia.
More well known videomaterial inside sunken Estonia is from Jutta Rabe's year 2000 expedition divers. Water in corridors is murky and when the diver enters to a cabin there is a remain of a human corpse.
Very good, all the sights from interior. One of the best M/S Estonia-films ever. Music is a +.

This is the greatest video that shows what the Estonia was like in real life. The employees that worked there, so happy. The passengers, curious and excited. Professionalism, the ship is immaculate, the whole video is just nice. The uniforms are so retro, the decor, everything. This video is surreal in how real it is and little did anyone know the fate that waited for them that fateful night, I am sure some of the people We saw in the video perished that night, here they are smiling and waving and alive. Beautiful video. Thank you. I've never seen the footage of the divers at the Baltic Bar, or of the Graham's Six Grapes Port that I think you had in another video. Are these videos available anywhere online please? I've looked, and can only find the footage of deck 6 and the bridge that's just under 2 hours. I would really love to see more of the dive footage. I went on Viking Sally (The Estonia) when she was brand new, less than a month old with my brother. We went from Stockholm to Mariehamn in Finland and back on a day trip. We even used the indoor swimming pool in the depths of the ship.

Viking sally was not viking sally anymore in 1991 though, it was silja star from 1990 to 1991
It was M/S Viking Sally to 1990- because Silja purchased the trades & ist was renamed Silja Star- & it got ist official name change in the year of 1993.
Yes there were an indoor swimmingpool yet it got manifactured (in other terms renovated in the year of 1993.). As so was the Baltic Sea Lounge- I think ist was the Off Duty- Resturang Pursuer Susanne Pundi- (who died at M/S Estonia that night of 1994/28/9 & was off Duty- R.I.P beautiful soul of Susanne Pundi.) official recommendation to have the aquariums in the offical resturang- area, not near the bar-section though. I think it was supposed to give the voluntairly guests some ease & calmness surrounding them while they ate the voluntairly food of ingestions cooked by voluntairly chef's at M/S Estonia.
Just as a side note: Mariehamn is located on the Åland islands, not in Finland. Well, technically Åland belongs to Finland, but is always mentioned separately.
@@snegelstenen it is part of finland, not just technically. but i guess we would happily give that finnish-swedish territory in exchange if we'd have Karelia back lol

I wonder if any of the people seen in this video were on that ship when it sank?
The big question is, why didn't they bring the poor people's bodies back even though they were said by the initial diving crew to bee in "good condition", well as good as a dead body can be anyway. The families surely wanted their loved ones back for a proper funeral, yet the government didn't try to reclaim them from the sea? That's pretty sus if you ask me...
I've been on that ship - when it ran under Wasabåtarna between Umeå and Vasa.
I feel that I need to say something here, but the words are just too insignificant to describe my feelings on this matter.
Carl Eric Reintamm did arrive the promenade deck 1 till 2 minutes after the loud 2 or 3 bangs that happened between ca. kl. 01.02 or 01.05.
According to JAIC the bow visor fell of the ship around kl. 01.16.
So the 2-3 big bangs, water on deck 1, and the following starboard listing did happen ca. 10-15 minutes before the separation of the bow visor!
That is pretty strange, because that means that the sekvens of happenings did indeed start approximum 12-15 minutes before the car ramp could have let all the water inn on the car deck.
That brings the questions on why the water came in on deck 1, and why the ship listed before the ramp fell down and the visor separated from the ship !?
Reintamm did see something in the water that left the ship backwards to the left app. 10 minutes before the separation of the bow visor.
Assuming that Reintamm looked backwards to the left from starboard promenade deck point of view, the thing in the water most likely could have hit the starboard side of the ship before the separation of the visor, and the opening of the ramp.
If Reintamm speaks truth it clearly proves without any shadow of a doubt that the specific time of the the 2-3 loud bangs, the inlet of the water on deck 1, followed by the with 30 degrees starboard listing a few minutes later, that this sekvens of events clearly happened before the separation of the visor and the downfall of the ramp........
Those big bangs explain the giant holes in her hull. The ones they were trying to cover up with huge bolders.

No, this is denied by Estonian investigator. He had calculated the impact. RIP
So sad that so many lost their lives on that dreadful journey. It was a great shock to read the conclusions of the investigation report, that the ship was a death trap. A very ugly and horrible disaster.
Every capsizing ship in the middle of the sea is a deathtrap. Up becomes down, down becomes up, left becomes right..and so on. Extremely difficult to get out a capsizing ship. And dont forget the panic everybody wants to get out at the same time.

Thats correct man..
But you cannot even compare lets say Titanic and Estonia..
If i had to choose one to be on ,it would always be Titanic..
Because you had time..
You had time for everything ,even to make peace with yourself that you re gonna die eventually in a lets say 'more normal ' conditions where the ship wasnt in a such a heavy list as Estonia was..
Or on the other hand ,you had more time to escape the ship and save yourself..
Estonia was literally a 'DEATH TRAP'
So so sad..

The truth is the bow door opened and the ship therefore capsized.

Dear swedish goverbnment. I respect you generally but: What do you want to hide if you want to build a sarcophagus around the ship and later try to forbid other countries to dive there?
A country acts like that only when it has much to lose, when the truth comes to light.
I tell you: one day it will come to light. And that will restore Sweden's honor.
U prob dont live in sweden so i can explain that its chaos here.
Only citizens of the nordic countries are banned from diving there, and it is not that strange. The wreck is tomb, and you gotta show the dead some respect. But as I said, divers from other countries CAN dive there if they want, and there are plenty of videos out there of people doing so.
They were trying to hide the 4x1 metre hole in the hull that has now been discovered.

There's actually a series about MS Estonia coming out soon. It's not like a docuseries or anything it's a disaster drama and also the most expensive Finnish series ever made. It's based on the heart breaking stories of the survivors. Loads of well known Estonian, Swedish and Finnish actors/actresses in it. I hope they do the victims and relatives justice instead of hollywoodifying their agony for profit like most movies and series that are based on tragic real life events.
