    Amazing knowledge and troubleshooting methodology!!! I think most of us would have gone straight away to replacing southbridge even of there were no shorts around... I learned something very useful today. You have my thanks!!!!

    Awesome. I didn't know those were called Bypass caps and that they weren't as needed as I thought. When you showed that missing resistor I thought: "This board is probably unfixable that's why the last person took it off and probably was using this PS4 for parts only" Since that's really common specially in consoles that come from repair shops which I don't think is the case of this one. Luckily it was just knocked off by some fighter roach 😂. Keep it up my friend 👍

      I have enjoyed working with electronics for a long time but about 3 years ago I was looking for a way to have fun with electronic repair and maybe make some money. My son had Playstations growing up so I decided to start there. I bought a broken PS4, fixed it and sold it for a profit. After that, I was hooked! Thanks for watching!

    really loving these PS4 repair videos, what are the 2 long metal prongs for on the motherboard that connect to the psu?

    • @ToltecMerc
      @ToltecMerc  7 місяців тому +1

      That is where the 12V is brought into the mother board. It’s rather high current

    Hi friend, thank you very much for the super explanatory video! It helped me verify if my PS4 turns on and indeed works when tested with the power source (set at 4.8V and 0.350A). It stays at around 0.020A, and when I press the power button, the PS4 turns on. However, I notice that when I connect its original power source, it doesn't turn on. I'm testing to see if the power source outputs 12V and if I'm getting that. What do you recommend I check?

    Hi Toltec really enjoy watching your videos. I have this strange ps4 1215A in which none of the apu rails and ram get the output voltage. There is 12V and 4.8V that goes to the fets but nothing outputs and there are no shorts on the any of the rails . I replaced the IOR but still nothing changed when I turn it on the apu cold to touch and the console shuts off after 5 secs any idea why the fets and not turning on??? I cant seem to figure it out.

    Hello man, very good video, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, you have a very nice laboratory, I wanted to ask you for a little help, I need the value of the resistor that is right next to the one you changed, I have the same problem as you , but my lost resistor is the one next to the one you changed, and I don't have a donor motherboard to know the value of the resistor, I would really appreciate it if you can help me, and it already has a new subscriber.

    • @ToltecMerc
      @ToltecMerc  Рік тому +2

      The resistor to the right of the one I changed measures 10K.

    Knocked off resistor? Roaches, like us, are carbon based. Perhaps they learned to eat (carbon) resistors now?

    • @ToltecMerc
      @ToltecMerc  Рік тому +2

      Hmmm. Ceramic caps as well it seems.

    • @Daveyk021
      @Daveyk021 Рік тому +1

      @@ToltecMerc LOL, well I was thinking the resistors are carbon. They probably spit out the ceramic cap.
