There are three reasons why i love this video. First, Voltaire is a handsome devil and i found thins after binge listening to his music. Second, Repo! the Genetic Opera is one of my favourite musicals. Third, hearing big bad voodoo daddy after a long time since i had almost done the unforgivable and forgotten them!
If anyone like me, has come to this page after discovering that this show was only done in person and with an active choice to not yet release on dvd or streaming service. Let's collectively hope they bring it back for another round of tours or a virtual circulation of streams. I hope if they retire this project they decide to release a full record or recording of what it was once like to see it live. Even though that was against what their initial intent was, would be a shame to have it end.
I know this was based off a REAL thing that happened in a specific era, (the Legend of Lavinia Fisher) but I listened to this song (almost on repeat) while writing a play about a female tavern/inn keeper. She doesn't kill anyone, but she does end up handling a dead body lol
Pretty Lavinia of the six and five-mile inn Works a lost parlours in a town of missing men Carolina swamp juice by the finger as she lingers Pretty pretty pretty Lavinia (CHORUS) What goes in Lavinia's drum? One part kisses, three part rum Northern girl with a southern tongue Pretty Lavinia Another body was combed from the Ashley bank Tied with cat-tails and stones until it sank But Lavinia, breeze and courtiers Past the mortars Pretty pretty pretty Lavinia Gossip and needles where the chapel ladies meet Prayed for Lavinia, stuttering down the street Where's Ann Couley, what's delayed her? Who can say sir? Pretty pretty pretty Lavinia (CHORUS)x3 Mr. Pearl Ankin found in the Penny Fish park Split wide open with salt upon his parts There's his top hat, there's his waistcoat Where's the bank note? Pretty pretty pretty Lavinia Samual McGuinty entered for a roof and bed And a shot of red whiskey was poured a triple black instead Stumbled room 6, there and about Never checked out Pretty pretty pretty Lavinia (CHORUS) (FIRST VERSE)x2 (I did my best, feel free to correct anything I got wrong!)
Well, I think it's pretty good^^. Few things: I'm pretty sure it's "naughty girl with a southern tongue" not "nor the girl". Then "stumbled room six, there and about" And the last - and here I'm absolutely not sure: "But Lavinia, breeze and courtiers" not "breeze and quarters". Other than that, it sound good to me :). Thank you for the work!
and no i think its "Northern girl with a Southern Tongue". as in she was born in the North but talks like a Southerner. perhaps because she's picked it up from living there for so long after for some reason moving out of the Northern regions in the US.
Sadly I don't think i'll be able to see the stage production. Hopefully this will get a theatrical release like Repo and Devil's Carnival. I'll happily buy this like I bought those. American Murder song looks like it's gonna be good.
So, there's Lavinia, Mary, Rosalie, Henry, Johnny...What about Edward? Is sweet, harmless, innocent little Eddie not allowed in the big, scary, sinful tavern? Is he being held in reserve? Was he simply not cast? Edward is tied with Mary as my second favorite (after Lavinia, of course), so where's my Eddie?
I almost don't want to say this, but it's bound to happen at some point. I'm surprised and so happy that this video has been out for 5 or 6 days now with 0 dislikes. I love you all! I love that you all love this crazy stuff that Terrance, Saar, and everyone involved make for us to enjoy. It brings a tear to this little sinner's eye. :')
Sophia Grace all the characters who showed up besides me storm and tanner are characters from the other songs the girl was Mary , the boy was Johnny the man was Henry the girl under the stairs was Rosalie oddly they left out Edward.
I'm in love with it! You know I am one of those who is still waiting for REPO! sequel but who cares now? I just sing for the third day: "What goes in Lavinia's drum? One part kisses, three part rum" Lots of love from Russia!
My first thought - hm, nice tune. My second - ....I think I saw Voltaire. I did! I did see Voltaire! But seriously it's a great one - so far that's my favourite, second is 'Edward'. Awesome job guys ^^ as always ;)
Wow cool song it definitely sounds like a song 18th century bar patrons would sing and even the murders does sound like those urban myths of the south west
I'm so happy. saw them sing the 1st ep at The steampunk world's fair. can't wait to see the total finished product. I'll keep being a backer till it's done! love it
This whole project is really cool. The music, the visuals... A lot of the more gothic stuff that's come out recently has been very European in it's roots, so it's really cool to see something that harkens back to American folk. Can't wait for more!
Terrance Zdunich is a filmmaker. Aerican Murder Song is full of actors. Terrance talked about it like it was a film when I saw the Alleluia! road show.
I know that. But this isn't a movie the way Repo and the TDC films are movies. It's a traveling live show. Which, by the way, is also something he mentioned on the Alleluia! road tour.
I watch this video for the like one millionth time and I really want that card game. If you ever make new merch, this should be one part. I mean, amazing cards, maybe even with the pictures of the actors?
I'm assuming that the video is featuring characters from other songs. I think the chained woman is Sweet Rosalie and the young girl is Mary. Any idea who the little boy is? And is the man supposed to be another character or just Lavinia's victim?
Finally! We see what all of these artifacts and people in the teasers over the months amount to, as well as hear Lavinia's murder ballad. Zdunich, you have yet to turn me off to your work, despite my initial reluctance to view Repo! because of the gratuitous gore and its dystopian premise. Time to add the second EP to my collection.
Thinking about it Edward is not so easy to represent as the others. It's not so surprising he wasn't included. What clue could have been used to show that they were Edward?
The beginning of this project, If I recall correctly, Terrance asked the followers of his blog if anyone wanted to cast for those roles (or if they had relatives or friends that met the criteria.) Also, they were the first ones to be teased in this channel as well =D
I'm so very very excited and honored to be in this production!!!!
That's to cool. I'm huge fan and a follower TZ/SH. Hope to meet you one day
We're very excited to see you in it!!
Excited to see you, sir.
We're all very very excited you are too!
we're very excited too!!
Wait, Voltaire is in this? Shut up and take my money!
Yeah, I was just rewatching this and recognized him myself. Awesome.
Wwwwhaaaaat? Voltaire and Terrence Zdunich?!
ikr!
"What goes in Lavinia's drum?
One part kisses, three part rum"
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, "Kisses"...
Well a kiss of death is still a kiss...
Ah, just a kiss between nitrogen and carbon

Correction* hearing *about* big bad voodoo daddy
+1 to everything xD

I like how you can tell how much fun theyre having making this

You did fantastic!! However, in the line 'And a shot of red whiskey was poured a black for instead' I think you're missing a word or two.
Thanks! I think I am too, but I don't quite know what they are :o
I think it's 'And a shot of red whiskey was poured a black triple instead'.
Well, I think it's pretty good^^.

I find it eerie that I had “Pretty Lavinia” in my head at work today and now this shows up on my recommends
this is so perfect, an underrated talent. how could i only know about the existence of this masterpiece almost 5 years after the release?
Voltaire? Is that?... oho, it is. This is going to be good
Sadly I don't think i'll be able to see the stage production. Hopefully this will get a theatrical release like Repo and Devil's Carnival. I'll happily buy this like I bought those. American Murder song looks like it's gonna be good.
Roguemaster out of TDC and Repo, I preferred Repo

He's standing outside in the snow.
Roxina Norden
Well then we should let him inside
He has to be cold
@Peggy Skyler No he's fine. He's playing hide and seek with his brother...while hunting rabbits
Weeee want Ed-ward! Weeee want Ed-ward!
its genuinely weird that edward isnt in this, unless he's behind the bleeding door?
I almost don't want to say this, but it's bound to happen at some point. I'm surprised and so happy that this video has been out for 5 or 6 days now with 0 dislikes. I love you all! Well, who would dare to dislike a video about a pretty Murder? ;) xD
Agreed!!!!
Two months, and over twenty thousand views, now. Still no dislikes. Testify!
One dislike. Some poor and probably just trolling soul.
+Anna Merisielu 8 dislikes sad
those playing cards they had was cool. they should make them and sell them.
They did. They should still be on the website in the store section
*What no my brain is not overloading because 1. oof Terrence how is he sexy in almost everything and 2. w o a h is that Aurelio Voltaire*
so shame than alissa white gluz doesn't singing here but she's fantastic in lavinia fisher....great song
she is
Is it her who speaks at the beginning?
@@Krieglein Yeah
So the girl who feeds the fish to the shadow dog is Mary right? like, it's not just me thinking that?
Sophia Grace all the characters who showed up besides me storm and tanner are characters from the other songs the girl was Mary , the boy was Johnny the man was Henry the girl under the stairs was Rosalie oddly they left out Edward.
@@TheNoble117 edward killed his brother. He’s probably cain
@@TheNoble117 Edward didn't manage to get inside the building in his song
I'm in love with it!
You know I am one of those who is still waiting for REPO! sequel
but who cares now?
I just sing for the third day:
"What goes in Lavinia's drum?
One part kisses, three part rum"
Lots of love from Russia!
Someone should make a parody of this song about the Heavy from TF2.
"What goes in the Heavy's drum? One part Sandvich, three part GUN"
Big-ass guy with a Russian tongue
Casey Davis unbeaten heavy
I knew I recognized that voice ! One of the guys is the grave robber from Repo an Genetic Opera !!! Love it amazing song !
My first thought - hm, nice tune. My second - ....I think I saw Voltaire. I did! I did see Voltaire!
But seriously it's a great one - so far that's my favourite, second is 'Edward'.

Holy shit, I'm so in love! And the fact you added Alissa, Voltaire and was that Chibi? Agh, my heart feels so fuzzy and warm ♥
yeah, it's Chibi
loved this song from 1st time I listened to it addictive
My absolute fave song on Providence, though they're all freaking amazing. Zdunich never ceases to deliver complete perfection.
Repo, devils carnival, and now this, is there anything you two cant do?
Okay, Alissa being here is a collab I did NOT expect. Love it!
Glad y'all got Voltaire on this, love the music by the way. :)
Oh my fucking God, this is outstanding! So much effort you've put in this, Zdunich, you're so talented. Great job, man!
There are so many talented faces I recognize. Love it! Also, this is perfect to vibe to after an episode of Old Gods of Appalachia.
Wow cool song it definitely sounds like a song 18th century bar patrons would sing and even the murders does sound like those urban myths of the south west
goodness me I adore this. I can't wait to see this in person.
This should be your one and only drinking song
I have no choice but to simp for terrance and saar 😤😤😤
I can't stop watching this video, this song is so amazing
Both EP are mine tomorrow! I hope for a video from Unwed Henry
Love from Sweden, this is Amazing !
I liked the little tidbit at the end about sending a message to Hell. Paraphrased from her hanging, no?
wow. I got chills when the beat came in. you guys are amazing!!
I'm so happy. saw them sing the 1st ep at The steampunk world's fair. can't wait to see the total finished product. I'll keep being a backer till it's done! love it
I can't believe this!! it's so amazing, I have a lot of chills!!!
This whole project is really cool. The music, the visuals... A lot of the more gothic stuff that's come out recently has been very European in it's roots, so it's really cool to see something that harkens back to American folk. Can't wait for more!
Guys. Come on. Release date. Please. I'm literally begging. When can I see this? I'm actually getting desperate.
Two EPs are on their site!
Release date to see what? It isn't a movie.
Terrance Zdunich is a filmmaker. Aerican Murder Song is full of actors. Terrance talked about it like it was a film when I saw the Alleluia! road show.

I don't remember hearing that, so I guess I'll have to take your word for it. I'm sorry if I seemed dickish and defensive.
So much talent here, I'm sold!
I watch this video for the like one millionth time and I really want that card game. If you ever make new merch, this should be one part. I mean, amazing cards, maybe even with the pictures of the actors?
An amazing song and very artistic video!
i dont know how the fuck i found this but dude yes???
this is amazing. songs on their own are amazing so adding an equally amazing music video makes it 1000× better
1:03 guys, this part seems to be the same as the song london bridge
Love, love, love! there is video now . I wanted to see the tour but I'm in Canada and the cities are to far :(
Oh I am so in love with this already! That was amazing!
Omg I live in the state this happened in .😮

OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING! i looove Lavinia!
This was brilliant!!!! Absolutely amazing!!!!
love the song grow up on this kinds songs
The cards are telling the story
god i love this song just took me 3-4 hours to find it
I am mesmerized!
My question is what does the jack card say on it? I know the first was inn keeper and the next was hunter. Can someone else read it!?
I can't make it out but I think it's the Knave.
I like how at the end it seems like unwed Henry made it all shake cuz he was the only one unaffected by it xD
I almost cried when I saw Voltaire
I'm listening to this song 6 times a day minimum
Very catchy,loving it already! ❤🔑
Storm&Tender you are great+
I'm assuming that the video is featuring characters from other songs. I think the chained woman is Sweet Rosalie and the young girl is Mary. Any idea who the little boy is? And is the man supposed to be another character or just Lavinia's victim?
SpelCastrMax little Johnny from the Hunter?
The man is Unwed Henry.
I love this!

Zdunich, you have yet to turn me off to your work, despite my initial reluctance to view Repo! because of the gratuitous gore and its dystopian premise. Time to add the second EP to my collection.
awesome
I saw Aurelio Voltaire and did a mini gasp, and my mom stared at me like I was being possessed by the devil
3:12 hahah i love this kind of humour where its quick but you get the joke quickly
16 people had their thumbs caught in Lavinia's drum.
pure awesomeness
AAH THIS IS SO AMAZING!!!!
I just bought the EP on iTunes.
Im sad i missed them.
why do i want to play d&d mith those people?
Curious about something. Who was Ann Couley, what did she have to do with this besides being missing, and why can I find nothing about her?
I was thinking she could be a made up victim of Lavinia’s but I could be wrong
What genre is this? Pretty sure they've invented a new one. Electro-Western? Steampop?
Pretty sure it's a kind of folk music
It's considered a murder ballad, I believe!
It's like Dark Cabaret
Ita murder-ballad and dark cabaret
Gosh that's good
Is the girl with the fish young Mary? Corn husk doll and the shade of a bulldog behind her...
And it seems somebody is getting a good laugh out of Chibi's appearance. tsktsk Alissa.
omg, it´s Alissa White-Gluz, sooooo awesome xD
I want to like it but there's a perfect 666 likes, what to do.
OMG that was funfuckingtastic! ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome job guys!
This is so good! Love it to death!
omfg I love this song so fuck nice alissa looks good
ANyone have a typed of synopsis of all the characters featured in both eps?
I heard this is a series
does anyone know what came the pair are playing?
how did they get the lead vocalist from arch enemy to play the part of laivigna?
i think it was too, i came scrolling down to find out and yours is the first comment talking about it.
is that Rosalie all chained up?
Song at the end?
Its my name 😮
Voltaire 😮
Thinking about it Edward is not so easy to represent as the others. It's not so surprising he wasn't included. What clue could have been used to show that they were Edward?
Is there any specific meaning to the boy with the bird and the girl at the dinner table, or are they more general representations of the day?
The boy is Johnny and the girl is Mary! They're all characters who've been teased since the beginning =D
Tais Adonis the beginning of what?
The beginning of this project, If I recall correctly, Terrance asked the followers of his blog if anyone wanted to cast for those roles (or if they had relatives or friends that met the criteria.)
Also, they were the first ones to be teased in this channel as well =D
I’d recognize Voltaire anywhere!
