My favorite tweak, which I consider essential for this unit. Select one of the three echo+room/hall/plate ambience effects and set it to this starting point: time 0, feedback 0, tone 10, echo 10, reverb - to your preference. Enjoy a much more full-bodied tone. Play with time - it works as a kind of a tone shaper if you go in careful increments from 0 to 1 and up. Hope I remember it correctly.
I bought this unit back in the 90's and I still use it to this day. I have checked out the modern stuff (Helix and Kemper), they are great units, but for what I need (Marshall overdrive and Fender Tweed) the Korg has it all covered.
I had one of these back in the day. Was still one of the best sounds ive had. With a JS100 ibanez and a marshal amp. So good. Would be great if they remade this exactly as it was.
In 2005, I bought these multi-fx pedals at WW music Malang for IDR 1,5 million (100 bucks at today's exchange rate) sold in 2009 for about 90 bucks, and you know what, 17 years later this multi-fx pedal is worth around (still) 100 bucks😮😮😮, great review mate, real bangs for the bucks

I can make any guitar sound good through any amp with one of these bad boys!! It does it all, and it does it well!!! It's the best single piece of gear I have ever bought! And mine is about 20 ish years old now and is still going strong.. Can't fault it!!

I bought one from goodwill on ebay. Paid 30 plus 10 shipping before taxes. Pedals 1 and 2 don't work, 3 does (I will buy proper switches and replace them later on though.) A-B pedal is iffy, sometimes if I hold down it does ok other times not. Bank pedal works, and the expression pedal is a little loose, likes to lean forward but I can adjust that. Some of the smaller knobs are missing but can still be turned, and all the chicken head knobs are there. Everything seems to work as it is supposed to other than what is mentioned. I'm looking forward to cleaning it up and fixing it.
Oh, you need to replace the mini switch for pedal 1 & 2. It's not expensive anyway. But you have to unsolder carefully. They are so tiny. But I'm sure you can do it.
@@RobzFreakGuitar yeah. I got small jumpers on each switch's poles, attached to the other end of a breadboard while I wait for those to get delivered. And I need to see why my left out jack isn't giving any signal, just buzz. I've been using the right out for the time being with no major issues. Overall, the experience in reading the circuits, as well as the accomplishment I've felt in getting this far with it is worth far more than the 40 us dollars I spent on it. I also have an ax5g that I've had since around 2006 or 2007, which is why I'm partial to the korg brand. Love these pedals Respect to you, though, for taking the time to reply to me on a video that's a couple years old.

Thanks for your review. I've had mine for a decade or so, still use it at home. On stage I didn't like it very much. Volume issues switching from one sound to another mainly. Some presets too soft or loud in combo with others. But all in all great value for money.

The delay time is configurable, as well as many other things for each effect it has. The five knobs under the selectors each affect something different depending on what effect is 'active'. That is, the most recently selected effect, or whichever is selected by the button under the selector; whichever one is blinking, is the one the knobs affect. (If none are, it defaults to the first 'drive-amp' as soon as a knob is turned.) The lights above each of those knobs shows whether turning it will affect anything, and turning a knob will always cause the display to try to tell you what it's affecting. For all of the delay/echo effects I've checked, the left-most knob controls the time, while the next controls feedback; then tone decay, [echo type, I guess? for multi-head delay, or depth for mod delay], and mix. (If you're not using those knobs, you should pull them off and send them to me; mine is missing three of them)
It’s a good demonstration but kind of odd that he got this wrong - the best thing about this pedal is the ability to fine tune all the effects, and to be able to do separate adjustments for effects on simultaneously. It’s a great pedal that I’ve had for nearly two decades. The only problem with mine is that the spring fell out of the pedal so it doesn’t maintain its position. Other than that, it’s still great for home use. Maybe he meant that you can’t do adjustments it easily while playing because they’re only via the small knobs...?
Haha I know how u feel missing all of mine but I've had the exact same pedal 20 years now and in all fairness I've battered the hell out of it and it still works fine
I also dug out my AX1500G that i did not use in awhile but when i played it into the front end of my marshall DSL40C it sounded fantastic with a high gain metal tone i already had saved in the AX1500G!I can not wait to explore more tones out of this unit going through my marshall!I also have other amp modeling amps and processors some newer and some older ones including the AX1500G but the Korg AX1500G still sounds good as the newer units and what i like about the AX1500G is the warmer sounding tone it has without the digital fizz you hear on many of today's amp modelers!

Great sounds. Question: On the distortion sounds, are you using more bass or treble? I usually tweek it so I have more bass than treble and I take the mids totally out.

Nice video. I have the choice of either getting a Line 6 Pod 2 or this Toneworks. For Studio use only, not live. I just want the widest array of guitar sounds. Give these two choices which one should I get and why?
Line 6 Pod 2 is better choice. It has much more Preamp model and Cab Sim model. You can put it on the desk and set all the parameters easier. Well... The size is smaller than the AX-1500G.

@@lightful_ Roland PSU is made for Keyboard. From my experience, my AX1500G became hot when I try to use it. So, I suggest to use power supply for guitar effect with 1 ampere currant. That would be better. There are a lot brand offered in market.
If we need to fix some problems (maybe switch or potensio), $100 is too much. IMHO. But FYI, if you need to replace the switch, it's not expensive at all.

still a fun toy but there is so many out there with these same tones that you can pick up used for 20 to 30 £ and people selling these tone works tend to want 50 to 100 and i got a way better pedal zoom g9.2tt for that same price range that's twin tube with 2 foot peddles that do to different things and is newer i believe 2017 and it is unbelievable for the money with all the pedals i have in my closet i have not herd any tones from tone works i cant get off other pedals i already have from past in my closet

9:27 I was not using any amp on that show. I didn't want to use the amp on stage because that amp was "fake Marshall amp". This was my routing on that show, "Guitar - AX1500G (cab sim on) - DI box - Mixer". So, the answer is... Yes

Thank you for this review. I have this gear and have always used the preset programs. I would like to try building my own. Is it possible to have several modulation effects at the same time? Like the Octave + the Chorus. The user manual suggests yes, but I haven't figured how. Could some help me with that? Cheers.

AX1000 not so different with the 1500.
AX1500G has Amp Channel Change (left switch).
AX1000 doesn't have it.

I'd no problem on stage, just copy the sound on presets to custom sets then adjust each of them for balancing volume.
Some said that too. The Patch switch randomly.
We need to change potensio to solve that problem.

It was a great processor. Not sure I can stand to its static noise anymore. But make no mistake hands down best processor to learn and practice.

what makes me worry is the hum that generated in distortion tones ,are there any solutions for that
IMO, just use the NR wisely.
I always set to 7.0 for the rhythm patch.
And for the lead, I set to 3.0.
I still need the noise for the lead tone.
I dont know how to record and improvise on top of it. Can you explain how it works? Nice playing by the way..

Yup you can do it. Choose "Pitch Shifter" or "Pedal pitch", set the second note to "24" (2 octaves) and set the level balance.

I was not using any amp on that show. I didn't want to use the amp on stage because that amp was "fake Marshall amp".
This was my routing on that show, "Guitar - AX1500G (cab sim on) - DI box - Mixer".
So, the answer is... Yes

AX5 has only 2 switches. I think it's not easy for player, if need more than 2 patches.

The best way is always set the preamp & Cab level all the way up

Produk2 multieffect tahun2 itu, belum ada XLR out nya.
Di video ini, saya pakai L mono out.
Tapi efek ini bisa koneksi stereo koq.

Thank you for this review. I have this gear and have always used the preset programs. I would like to try building my own. Is it possible to have several modulation effects at the same time? Like the Octave + the Chorus. The user manual suggests yes, but I haven't figured how. Could some help me with that? Cheers.
As I know, we can only choose 1 modulation type in one patch.
Also the Pedal and Ambience.

that 8 types of effects can be used simultaneously. I find it odd to be limited to 1 effect per block. Thank you though _/\_

@@RobzFreakGuitar siap mas. kayanya bukan switchnya aja sih, kadang switchnya diteken suka gak respon harus ada teknik mencetnya sendiri..wkwkwk nah itu entah part apa yg saya ganti juga, agak susah cari servis elektronik untuk efek. Takutnya kalo tukang elektronik yg gak pernah benerin efek, efeknya malah rusak
Punya saya kemaren servis di kandang fx Depok mas. Memuaskan. Hehehehe

@@RobzFreakGuitar you can test .......click "individual" (no 5 button) hold 2-3 second ...into individual mode....you can see symbol 3 line light.... click button 3 (pedal and select to tap delay or hold delay) click button3 for test tap delay...... adjust and return to user mode with click user mode (click individual button .......
it 's work greate but sound is still running ...between adjust tap delay....
