- Alex Trebek hosts this episode of To Tell The Truth that focuses on Harold Wilkins, game show contest winner, and Eddie Benales, former gang member. Panelists are Orson Bean, Dana Hill, David Niven, Jr. , and Kitty Carlisle. Mark Goodson, Marjorie Goodson, Bob Barker, and the Price is Right models make appearances.
Charlie O'Donnell, the voice of "Wheel of Fortune" and every other award show on television. May he, along with Orson, Ms. Kitty, Alex, David, and Dana, rest in paradise.
And now, Bob Barker, too. As well as Mark Goodson.
I'm pretty sure David Niven Jr. is still with us (as of me writing this).
@@notundercovercop327Yes. He is still alive at 81. And so is Marjorie Goodson.
Alex Trebek will rest in paradise too
Indeed. But to be fair, Kitty Carlisle Hart and Bob Barker were 99 years of age. Perhaps in the next hundred years people will live well into their second century, but for now let’s say that they lived as long as is humanly possible these days. Few people make it past 100.
@9:12, don't let Merv Griffin hear you say that Alex.
Alex Trebek said Classic Concentration and Jeopardy! 2:01 and 2:08
What a life! It’s amazing, isn’t it?!
The new version of Match Game didn’t debut until July 1990, so there was probably no way the guy could know who the new host was. Bert Convy hosted the pilot in October 1989 and was slated to host the series, but he had to turn it down because he was diagnosed with a brain tumor which claimed his life a year later.
On a panel show from the 1950s, "The Name's the Same", while I don't believe there were any contestants named Mark Goodson on that show, they did once have a couple of children named Goodson and Todman.
I never knew Alex did a version of this show.
For this iteration of TTtT, he was Host #3, after Gordon Elliot, who ended up having to leave the show and go home to Australia, and Lynn Swann, who replaced Elliot and hosted until he had to stop due to prior obligations with the NFL.
Yes! He also appeared as a panelist on the 2018 version with Anthony Anderson as host.
IMHO Orson Bean is full of himself
Is it my imagination, or is the questioning period on this version extremely short compared to earlier versions of TTTT? It seems as if the panel never get a chance to follow up on the answers they get, or ask anything probing.
I wonder what was the airdate of the "Price is Right" show Mr. Harold Wilkins attended (clip beginning @ 1:47)
With the Super Ball and 1 Right Price props in the back at the 10:32 mark, perhaps the April 8, 1991 episode? (No other season 19 lineups have those two games played in the same episode)
@@Rewindium Now, I'm hoping someone has that very episode and post it to UA-cam (cause a LOT of Season 19 shows have been surfacing on UA-cam lately)
Entirely possible it's also 2/27/91 too, that's a Pathfinder podium between the One Right Price and Superball ones.@@Rewindium
That is another likely date as it too was around the time the episode of To Tell the Truth was taped. There was a contestant Harold on the 4/3/91 episode who played Ten Chances but it appeared to be a different one. No other recaps turned up with that name yet for 1991
I want a Mark Goodson Production cap!
I've never heard of Dana the Panelist, but she is pretty Street-Smart.
Dana Hill played one of the Griswold kids in National Lampoon's European Vacation. Performed cartoon voiceovers . Died young from cancer.
Dana died 5 years later from a stroke suffered during a diabetic coma.
@artytoons3447 Try the original, Nation Lampoon's Vacation
@@artytoons3447 Her best known cartoon voiceover work was Max on "Goof Troop" and Jerry in "Tom & Jerry: the Movie". Her final voiceover credit was an episode of "Rugrats" titled "New Kid in Town"
