The granite looked so much better.
Thank you for your opinion.
So happy to have found you guys, your directions are AMAZING (and simplified)! I plan to try this next month! I knew there had to be a way without ripping out perfectly good granite countertops. Mine are like yours was, brown and outdated. So wish me luck, and can't wait to have an updated (gray) kitchen!
Thank you so much! Good luck and please let us know how it goes!
You guys are amazing !
This has nothing to do with this specific UA-cam but when you do your trip on your tables and things of that nature you're always supposed to use a dryer that has no heat and Walmart has them for very cheap that way your paint won't dry as quick as it does. I really liked the look of your table because I'm watching you do it right now.
Thank you for the video! Very helpful to someone who wants to change their kitchen granite look new. Where can I buy that sponge if you don’t mind to share?
You're welcome! I got the sponge from Heirloom Traditions Paint.
The granite looked so much better. I’m so sorry. I hope you stay happy with your decision. I would have painted the cabinets a warm green or tawny color.
We are very happy with it! Thank you for your feedback
Just one quick question when you get the time... what if you wanted a shiny, glossy type of surface. Would it be possible with the Dixie Bell paint? If yes, what laquer or what would you suggest. I do like the matte concrete finish you did, but just curious. Thank you for your time! Joe & Renene
The sheen is dependent on the type of sealer you use. We chose a matte/flat water-based polyurethane. They make the sealer in a gloss as well. Thank you for the question!
What did u use to fill in the little holes in the granite ??
We didn't fill them in. The final finish is slightly textured and with the pattern you don't even notice them.
Hi there! Can you use any kind of paint you want between the priming coat and the top coat? Like if I wanted to use the same paint i'm putting on my walls? Thanks!
Hi! I've only used Dixie Belle to paint granite or marble (after priming with Slick Stick) so I can't answer that from experience. In theory though, as long as you prime, latex paint should be okay. You might want to test a small area first. I wouldn't recommend using the technique with the sponge though. If you are trying to get the concrete look, I would recommend the chalk mineral paint, or Silk.
can anyone tell me : if i do paint my granite countertops like this. is it okay for me to just clean them the usual way ? will they be affected by water and hard detergents ? also will they be easily scratched while chopping an onion orrr ...?
You definitely need to treat them more gently than granite. You cannot chop directly on them as they are sealed with a polyurethane. We wash them with mild soap and water and always use a cutting board when preparing food. It is just my husband and I (no more kids in the house) so we are able to control how they are treated. I hope that helps.
@@soulmatesandsawdusttn THANK YOU so much this is so helpful ♥️
did you sand it before applying the primer?
No, we just cleaned with a TSP formula. No need to sand since we applied the bonding primer.
I just bought a van Gough... let me paint his ear back on. This whole project seems like you absolutely have nothing to do with your time and money. BUT, its your time and money.
Wonderful comment. Thank you so much for watching.
This can’t last long and seems that it’d need constant paint touch up .
It's certainly not as tough as the granite or epoxy but it's held up just fine for our purposes. It hasn't required any paint touch up because we properly prepped it and as far as scratches, we do have some superficial ones that will eventually require a light sanding and sealer. Thank you for your comment.
You really need a clip on mic so you can be heard clearly....
Thank you for the feedback, I actually got one a few weeks ago.
