goshhh the way broke down the fundamentals of clothing folds and drapery,, it’s so much easier to understand how it actually works, definitely will be practicing with this video 🥹 also so cool to see aventurine in your style, he’s one of my favorites in hsr and i was so hoping to see him in your style and you did him so good, love the outfit !!
Oh my God, at exactly the time I needed it. Yesterday I was searching for the topic of drawing clothes, but I did not find anything suitable. I looked at your channel yesterday and there was nothing about the subject. When I saw the notifications today, I was shocked. I was like, how? You knew it,😭😭 I was happy watching your drawing process as usual, thank you always 🌼
Haha what a timing then. That's perfect ^^ I was thinking of making such a video for a long time but it's a rather difficult topic so I wasn't sure about it. Hopefully it's helpful :)
Thank you! This is probably the most helpful tutorial of clothing folds I’ve seen. I really appreciate how you broke down clothing folds into different parts to make them easier to understand.
Ahh yes! I think brushes do make a difference.i noticed that with my Procreate process. I missed all the brushes I am used to and this hindered my work flow
I'm trying to get better at drawing characters and one of the tips I was told was to get better at drawing clothes. So this video came at a very convenient time for me! Thanks as always kuro!
Clothes are actually such a helpful thing. When you can draw them you also can draw long hair, organic shapes and environment I believe. Hopefully this video can provide some help :)
I’ve seen soo many tutorials on this topic over the years, yours is the only one that makes me want to sprint to my iPad to try it out!! Thank you for making something easy to understand and jam packed with info! 🙏💙
Oh thank you! I am really glad to hear. It was difficult for me to put all the information into one comprehensive video. Hopefully it's not overwhelming
Thank you! Yeah I actually never stick that much to my sketch of folds and freestyle the clothes later in the rendering process. It's way easier and I look at it like it's some sort of organic material when I render it :)
I didn't saw the notification in time, ahhh!!! I like to watch your videos on time but this time I couldn't, but it can't be solved anymore and before watching your video I was having problems with how to draw the clothes so thank you very much I love your content, you are one of the best artists I know, I hope keep up your channel!!! ❤
Omg thank you so much! Yeah youtube didn't seem to push it that much since drawing clothes is a very specific topic. I hope it can provide some insight and help :)
Oh I really like chibi Aventurine in the begining of the video 😍😍😍 so cute I didn't realize that pleated skirt is also a fold (with tension and gather), just premade? 🤣 It just never occurred on my mind. Even though I knew the shape is following the waistband and the movement. Those are beautiful skirt 😍 I can't imagine the other side from the reference before, now I can. Thank you. This is the best part. The actual speed drawing 😍😍😍 what a beautiful color. I always fascinated with how you pick your color. We can pick from the same ref, but the adjustment definitely different. It's the first time I saw you draw on green (tosca) color I guess. The detailed seams is so perfect ✨
Thank you for another amazing video! Drawing folds and redering it have been quite a struggle. Your video is so detailed, I can learn a lot through it. Please, keep it up with your great work💜
Clothing tutorial woooooo!!! The mini adventurine at the start is really adorable :D Very comprehensive video I actually needed, my ability to draw clothes is horrendous. I normally draw a lot of folds when I’m not confident on what I’m doing, and it makes thick fabric look really wrong lol. I also tend to draw the clothes directly without focusing too much on the anatomy underneath, which makes it look even more cursed. I also can’t seem to find nearly as good of references as you do, almost always resort to taking pictures of myself. Much learned from this video :) I see you have incorporated lineart-less qualities into your art 👀
I had a lot of fun drawing the chibi version of him haha thanks for your indepth comment. True, clothes are tricky and I am not close to master it but I think focusing on the outer shape and silhouette is what makes it work. For references I trained my Pinterest algo so that it shows me a lot of good references. Some keywords may help to get from one good picture to another :)
Whoa, guess the next week will be clothing/folds practice! Amazing tutorial, so much useful info, I'm definitely going to rewatch it several times at least. Also thanks a lot for the detailed process, it helps to understand which steps create general volume, lighting, fabric texture, etc. I could praise it a lot more but not sure if YT comment could fit that, hehe. Aventurine bonus is absolutely fabulous, he came straight from VOGUE cover. I love how each and every artwork of yours is so graceful, a perfect ending for the tutorial. Thanks for your efforts!
Omg thanks for this kind and encouraging comment. I really appreciate it! I try to incorporate a handsome man or woman whenever I can haha and this video was the perfect opportunity to draw fancy clothes ^^
Omg kuro i can’t believe im a day late 😢 im so sorryyyy anyways hope you have been well! And its time for your monthly reminder Make sure to eat and sleep well dont be discouraged, do what you love and dont ever regret it, love and cherish the people you hold close and make sure to take breaks when needed ❤ NEXT PART IS QUESTIONS!! 1. Can you make a video about how to draw hands? 2. Can you post your speed paints at the end of the vid or smth? Ik its a lot to ask but rly helps me see the process better 3. Can you draw sanemi shinazugawa if you do like demon slayer? And thats all thank you for reading ❤ Oh wait! Also i finally got instagram so i followed u! Also be prepared to see 100+ notifications when i like all your posts 😂 XD ha ha anyways have a good day/night !
Oh gosh you're so kind. Thanks for stopping by and sticking with me :3 Soo to answer your questions (I hope I remember them all, yt studio on my phone won't let me scroll while typing) I use the lineart layer as reference so the Lasso Tool I am using knows to what layer or layer group it should refer to. So it can make a selection based on the referred layers :) I can make a video about hands but that's so complicated. When I find an easy method I surely will. And about the speedpaints: so you mean it would be better to have them at the end instead of parting them based on the topic I am working on? My fav Colors are black and white lol Nahh but I also like various shades of blue and red :) For the demon slayer questions: Yes! I absolutely love this Anime. Especially Tanjirou. Usually the MC isn't my most liked character but he's a good guy haha and hopefully I can drw more of all of them :) Again thanks a lot for your check-in. I appreciate your words a lot :)
Yaaay a new video! ^w^ Thank you so much for making a tutorial for clothes! This is amazing like all your videos! :3 Thank you for putting all the effort in these!

First of all, sorry for my low english. I'm an art student 2nd grade in university. It may sound funny but i usually draw with physical materials, like pens, ink, ect. I had experience in digital too but not too much because i really don't understand how to use brushes, how to control them, how to use canvas and layers. Thats why i don't usually draw in digital. I watched so many videos, even asked my friends but what they tell me is always comes too confusing to me. I can say maybe im in artblock or something but thats not the real case. Every video i watch is teaching me something new and i appreciate it but when i finally try something and do a digital art, i always focus on one thing. It can be eyes, it can be skin ect. I'm focusing too much that it turns out so bad that i never ever draw in digital like 3-4 months. The biggest mistake im always doing it zooming the canvas. I even get close to paper when i do it in physical, im used to it actually but in digital im doing that too much too. I'm zooming the canvas and i get closer to my tablet which is not very healtfull for my eyes... but im used to it and im doing that in digital too. I understand where the fabric fold, or where it gathers in different situations. I know how to use colors dynamically too. But layers always comes too confusing to me. When i render it turns out to be so overdone and i can't fix this, i don't know what to do. It happens when i zoom too much but in the videos i watch (like ur video) i see the difference. Digital artist don't usually zoom to the canvas too much. Just for detail and stuff. I'm trying to fix my wrong behaviors but even when i do it, not knowing how to use layers are always coming as an issue for me and it sucks so much that i don't even want to draw in digital again. I use procreate in tablet and medibang in pc, i draw with wacom intuos pro. Do you have any recommendations about fixing my wrong behaviors that effects my digital art? I just found about you today, even if you have any video of it i didn't saw for now, im sorry. I really had fun when i watched this video of yours. Thank you for this video. I will try my best to keep going on and cook some really good digital art. Sorry if i write so complex... i hope that i was able to explain myself.
Hey! First of all, thanks for your comment and letting me know. You seem to be able to pinpoint your exact problems. That's very good and I can tell you having this knowledge is so so important. So you seem to struggle with layers and getting lost in details while drawing. I use layers as follows: for every part which I want to have as a separate thing I make a new layer so that it won't influence other parts. For example when I draw a body and on top of it on a new layer the clothes I keep them as 3 layers since it's easier for me to erase the body parts which are hidden by the clothes. Generally speaking the lower the layer is in your layer list the more in the background it is. It's actually a very simple thing once you know how they work. So I recommend watching a specific video about this topic. And for preventing myself from zooming in too much I like to have a second window of the same file open so that I can always have a look from far away while having the other window zoomed in. I hope this helps a bit. I hope to make a video about my workspace in digital drawing programs
Ahh honestly that's a thing I am currently working on. I want to rely less on lineart. I like to keep the outer outlines which defines the silhouette and erase the inside laying parts :)
This is exactly what i was looking for and you've explained it flawlessly and easily. I can't believe I finally understood it... It got me so happy that I'm gonna draw right now and put all of this knowledge into practice. Tysm for taking the time to make such a well detailed, yet straight to the point, video on the subject.🩵

And for preventing myself from zooming in too much I like to have a second window of the same file open so that I can always have a look from far away while having the other window zoomed in. I hope this helps a bit. I hope to make a video about my workspace in digital drawing programs
Aaaaa how do you make parts with no line art and line art mix so well in one illust?!??!?
Ahh honestly that's a thing I am currently working on. I want to rely less on lineart. I like to keep the outer outlines which defines the silhouette and erase the inside laying parts :)
can u do with anatomy?
I will add this to my list even though it's a very complex topic. Thanks for your suggestion :)
I love you
Can you please make a video of how to do backgrounds or simple backgrounds ideas🫶🏻🫶🏻
Thanks for your suggestion! I will add this to my list for sure :)
@@kurohshiro OMG ILY THANK U
are you changing the thumbnail?
I see Aventurine, I click😐🙏
I also want to mention to draw in big shapes because i always go straight to the details and it just looks awkward 😭
That's a really good point! It's important to focus on the appearance of the whole before moving into the details :)

That's one of the sweetest compliments I could get for my videos. Amazing! Habe fun drawing. This motivates me to start a new art work as well 😌
The excitement I feel in my guts whenever I see my fav artist Kuroshiro has posted can’t be expressed in words-🩷 also, I was looking up clothes tutorials on YT and Skillshare and I don’t think this is coincidence anymore, Kuro read my mind definitely
Haha that's amazing then! I am happy to hear that and I hope this video can be helpful in some way or another :)
