This was a lovely watch. I was not fortunate enough to be invited to interview this year, but it’s nice to watch this video

Rejection is just redirection. Great opportunities shall come your way if you continue to bless those around you as a way of also bettering yourself.
I’m sure whatever university you go to, your academic ability shall prevail.
      Best of luck my friend.

This video is refreshing to see especially as a mature student(early 30's) who has been out of education for a number of years and is considering applying to the foundation year(will be sitting an access to HE(Humanities) in September which will be my first level 3 qualification). Got an A*/8 in English Language and am sitting math gcse this year(higher tier) to gain that qualification before moving onto level 3.
I do have a question regarding SEN schools who fall under the Aspris group; are they considered independent schools(was referred to them under the local authorities due to SEN related issues)?

Hi there, thanks for your comment. That's a great question, to which I am honestly not sure about the answer. So the website states that: You will have attended, normally for all compulsory education (usually between the ages of 11-18), non-selective state-funded UK secondary schools/colleges. "Normally" I think could be used here to suggest a special case for SEN schools, as they do not comply with typical independent school designations.

@@JesusCollegeOxford1571 So if a person went to two state schools before being pulled out of education and referred to an SEN school under that group(aspris children's services) by the authorities involved, but meet the eligibility criteria in two other categories; would that person be eligible to apply for the foundation year? I know the local authorities and NHS do get involved regarding funding, but I do not know if that would count as being on a 'bursary'.

I would have thought so, but I can't say definitively. The admissions team take great care to check the eligibility criteria and not exclude anyone without cause. It may be worth emphasising your circumstances in the personal statement, or in a letter/email appended to your application. You can send such a letter/email to admissions@foundationyear.ox.ac.uk

@@JesusCollegeOxford1571 I will get in contact with the admissions team and double check. I hit the eligibility criteria in two of the categories; however, the school one threw me off due to it being classified as an 'independent special/SEN school.

Foundation Year is not available in colleges like Balliol, New, Christ Church, Merton, Magdalen, Oriel, Univ, Brasenose, Pembroke, The Queen's. Disappointed D: I expected better.
Why doesn't these colleges offer foundation year? Why is it that the less popular colleges do?
