Best demonstration of using the Aztec decals I've ever seen. Man, that looks tedious. But can't argue with the end result: spectacular! Well done, man.
I started plastic modeling around, 9 years old I think. The original AMT Enterprise and D7 back then were marketed because ST:TOS was airing on NBC. I've gone thru several of those 1/650(ish) kits, still have a large trove of various others. AND, of course, two PL 1/350 refits, one (or 2?) 1/350 TOS...Two PL K'tinga, scads of LEDs, scores of real world kits as well...just finishing up the Agora part-works version of the Zero A6M, just started their Jaguar and Titanic...well, I'm multi-tasking! My Enterprise re-fit is also started, just honing my skills...which means I don't want to eff it up!!! Thanks to people like you, it is educational.
outstanding!! the refit has been my favorite since 1979!! i have the same kit but I am too much of a wussy to attempt to build it. I would not do lighting. u did great.
Phenomenal work with the extreme details! My fine modeling days are past due to arthritis, but so really enjoy watching the love that you invest in your models. Kudos!
Hey Franco, this breaks my heart. Towards the end of the video, he shows how some lights don't light up because he must have crossed some wires. NUTS. After he'd already glued it into place. This is why I completely double, triple, and quadruple check before cementing. You've gotta be a TURBO SPERG in order to ensure that stuff lights up properly. I really feel badly about that...
Fantastic build video, thanks for sharing! I built various TOS models in the 70s and 80s, I can't imagine how awesome it would have been to have the LED lighting tech that you've used here back then. Really enjoyed the video format, it's relaxing and I can't just shut off my brain and enjoy the building artistry 😁
I'm thinking of scratch building a 1:350 scale Constitution Class Starship saucer section for a space construction yard diorama. I like your Aztec work on here. Using an Aztec kit like this and other aftermarket parts I think I can pull it off.
Thanks for this Birthday gift. Your work is always amazing! Can't wait to see the finished product. I know it's going to be out of this world. No pun intended.
Just started this journey..... I've never assembled a model before, however, I've thrown myself into the deep end and gone for the Refit build. It's going to take a few months of steep learning! I really enjoyed watching your workmanship which will be useful for reference. Thanks!
Best of luck! I know this project my look really intimidating. But the end results my man, they are going to be absolutely worth the time and energy. I had so much fun working on this project I'm actually going to be getting started building the Enterprise D very soon LOL.
Can't wait to see part 2, I've been working on the same kit for a friend of mine for about a year and half and it's defeated me so many times! You've given me the urge to finish it! Thank you!
I had this several years ago, but wound up trashing it due to "help" from my then-young children. It's awesome to see one done up by my favorite content creator!
Bloody well done on the 1701A! I wish I had the patience and skill to pull that off. Keep up the good work and good luck on the future adventure....to fatherhood!
Looks great man! I'm initially came here for gundams, but I've gotten to the point where I enjoy everything you put out. The attention to detail, the tips, the groovy tunes, and your positive attitude make for great content.
Sorry to hear about your losses bro, for those that have gone we have to look forward and live our best lives. Love this build! Damn it’s huge lol I haven’t done one yet but Star Trek the early movies were some of my favs as a kid (80’s kid)
I built the original refit AMT "Wrath of Khan" model as a kid. For over thirty years I've been wanting to do it (and Reliant) again with lights and painted details, and this video is inspiring me to do it. I should probably try something simpler first though...
Nice Job, very good and professional video coverage. I've built the AMT version many times (5) and my last has been on the bench semi-finished for over 20 years LOL!! Couldn't find the Mr. Smoothy version so I sanded the entire surface smooth. But I'm glad you went with the light grey base coat same as I did all those years ago. As my experience with film production, it made sense that the TMP model makers would not have used white its to harsh and too hard to control exposures. I'm going to build the Polar Lights version next before I finish the AMT version, the larger scale makes it easier - I think anyway. I'm also very pleased you were able to preserve the dish edge sensor array grooves, shows your skill level is on the high side. Keep up the good work and I look forward to following your completion of this great ship. Thank you.
I've been following along with your instagram posts and knew it was looking good but you knocked that paint job out of the park!! Can't wait to see the rest, keep up the amazing work.
As soon as my photo etch parts come in next week I'm probably going to have this video on repeat. Thanks for sharing about those pearlescent paints! I have been trying to figure out which ones give that effect
duude, I love your videos. I always have your videos playing in the background while I'm working on a build and I catch myself watching your video more than working on my kits hahaha but keep up the great content my dude.
You’ve been watching Boyd’s videos? 😎 doing this same kit right now but using shapeways parts for the bridge and other dish parts. Good luck with your build! 👍
What are you talking about?! In ST Il the Enterprise already was sprayed over with clearly visible white coat. There has been re-used footage of ST l in ll too so in some scenes the ship looks beautyful and in some scenes oversprayed.
Hello, could you provide a list of those leds that you bought for this kit and maybe provide a schematic of the wiring? The pop up of leds throughout this project is making my head spin.
Drinking game, every time he says “actually” take a shot. You’ll be wasted before the LED’s go in, and you’ll have emptied 4 bottles before the video is over.
The refit is the best looking starship design...and the enterprise class is a proven class for being able to take massive punishment and keep going..

That Aztec paint? Awesome. Worth the wait for sure. Looking forward to seeing it all put together.
Phenomenal work with the extreme details! My fine modeling days are past due to arthritis, but so really enjoy watching the love that you invest in your models. Kudos!
Lol they don't even make model master paint anymore. Great references
And horrible cross reference charts.
Okay , Calling this one of your best paint jobs to date. Excellent work .

The most detailed build I have ever seen on this kit. You are a master modeler. I love the music in this video.

In fact, I work in a factory that makes thin gauge sheet styrene. If you ever need some, hit me up! I'd be glad to donate!
Where you went wrong is the bridge has to be brought forward as in all builds of this. By doing so the registry is then lit up.
It's nice to finally see somebody else's take on this build. Mine has definitely been an experience!
nice lookin build so far!!!! i always thought that ship was sexy!!
Thanks!
Wow THANK YOU SO MUCH 💙🙏🏽
Bloody well done on the 1701A! I wish I had the patience and skill to pull that off. Keep up the good work and good luck on the future adventure....to fatherhood!

Sorry for your losses, my condolences, it's good you have a hobby to offset RL tragedy.
Ooohhhh space ships, heck yeah.

sir?! I am blown away by your work on the saucer and will be watch part very soon. congrats

One day….ill do this build…. Excellent job!
Those shimmering paints are really cool, I bet they'd be great for painting psycho-frames.
Rumor has it the next federation starship to get the 1/350 treatment is the Reliant
i like the way you show a lot of tlc when you build the star trek star ships keep up the good work
The detail is still phenomenal, even with missing lights!
Wooooof cant believe you did 2...looking fantastic....
I am making right now a 350 scale Reliant, it was a garage kit by Marshall models, and your work inspires me.
Well done. Thanx for sharing.
This is just incredible.
Looking Guhhhhreat!!! Just discovered this video and looking forward to checking out the others with this build. Just subscribed!
I've been following along with your instagram posts and knew it was looking good but you knocked that paint job out of the park!! Can't wait to see the rest, keep up the amazing work.
Amazing! This is the best I've seen!
The aztec pattern looks amazing :)
As soon as my photo etch parts come in next week I'm probably going to have this video on repeat. Thanks for sharing about those pearlescent paints! I have been trying to figure out which ones give that effect
Love your work - this kit seems like a big challenge but you're meeting that challenge for sure.
I like the format and great info in the videos. Well done sir

dearr,like~how cool footage, 📹
Awesomeness as always
Incredible work mate
I assume you have heard of Mr.Trek in UK who is planning to build a 1/25th scale Enterprise.
Okay I'm starting this project and fearful! Your work looks amazing. Maybe if I have questions you could help lol
Just started this kit, hopefully all will go well,
Following you’re build
Don't be afraid, you can DO IT!!🖖🏾💙
I love your work my brother
Great job. Greetings
The main aztek goes down first. The secondary patterns are applied over the main patterns.

👍

Hello, could you provide a list of those leds that you bought for this kit and maybe provide a schematic of the wiring? The pop up of leds throughout this project is making my head spin.
Just make it something else besides Enterprise!
Is there a full list of the Evan Design LED's that are needed for this anywhere?
Drinking game, every time he says “actually” take a shot. You’ll be wasted before the LED’s go in, and you’ll have emptied 4 bottles before the video is over.
All the spray paint your using was that Mr Surfacer 1200 grey, black and white?
Applying mine now and they are yellowing the base color. Is that normal?
For some reason I can not get your discount code to work
Is doing a scratch built lights and sound cheaper than the Tenacontrol light kit?
Are the taxidermy paints the acrylic pearls or the lacquer based pearls?
The video was cool but, the music volume was to much. Had to turn down the volume then turn it back up to hear you. It got annoying.
The decals are horrible I threw mine in the trash
That's understandable my man. That's why I went with the Aztec route.
Waft does refit mean when regarding these kits
