Although, you can still fight first with units that have it on their datasheet. Which is insane because you fight before the charging unit and you gain grund in your opponent's turn as well.
Yeah, it does indeed state you don't get the charge "bonus", and charge is stated as giving you Fights First. I'm surprised more didn't realise that it doesn't give you Fights First
Please do more of these stratagem videos, they don't all have to be dedicated to one strat. If there are a couple that don't really need 10+ minutes all by themselves combine them into a single video.
I love gullamans warlord trait in ninth. You charge one unit thats close to him and he yell " get em boys" and the whole legion crashs down on top off the charger.
Yeah it's probably a good thing that Sanguinor specifies that his ability works once per game because that would terrifying to handle in like Angelic Host or Vanguard.
The best use ive ever had for it in 10th was launching my MoE-led Berzerkers unit into a group of Assault Intercessors that charged a Maulerfiend to wrap it up, and just slaughtered them up.

Yeah, it's a REALLY good anti charge thing. At least it only works on your focus of hatred, imagine if you could just fights first always for 2CP. Would be nuts
The fact Heroic Intervention shortens to HI means that is what I am going to be saying every time I use it from now on as I slide my models unexpectedly into the melee.
Had a friend essentially secure his victory against me awhile back with Heroic Intervention. I had a Lychguard unit that needed to charge his Castigator that had very little wounds remaining. I had a secondary to kill vehicles and this was my last chance at scoring enough vp to take the lead. He had a Battle Sisters squad nearby that had been reduced to one lone Sister. She made the ultimate sacrifice to stop me from reaching the tank!
A little confused (i could be missing something). Heroic intervention requires your lychgaurd to have completed their charge In order for the sister to use heroic intervention, and she wouldn't fight first, so your lychguard could have ignored the sister and just smacked the tank.
@@gilcongane4936 Could have HI at the end of a stretched Lynch guard unit preventing them from getting more than 1 model to fight the tank. Sometimes using HI to make base contact this way can stop all pile-ins.
@@gilcongane4936 ok so you guys had me questioning what happened. I just went and checked the Sisters index stratagems because I’m not sure how much they changed with the codex. So now I’m remembering he comboed Heroic Intervention with the Suffering and Sacrifice stratagem that made me target the Sister instead of the tank.
Ive got a question. How would the terminators be able to heroically intervene when they need to be deployed 9" away and the heroic intervention target needs to be within 6". Another question, would the brutalis dreadnought still get its mortal wounds ability despite the charge being made in the enemy's charge phase.
Heroic intervention takes place after the enemy has completed their charge. Your terminators need to be 9" away from them when they deep strike(this takes place at the end of your opponent's movement phase). You place your terminators near the unit your opponent wants to charge. Opponent's charge phase. They charge your unit, they are now only 6", or 5" or whatever, from your terminators. Heroic intervention can be used AFTER your opponents unit completes it's charge. Yes all charge abilities still apply.
Yep, the "charge bonus" only refers to getting fights first on the charge, whereas the Sons of Sanguinius (or the new Liberator Assault Group detachment) only references making a charge move that turn to get a buff
From the designer's commentary: "Charge Bonus: Bestowed on a unit that makes a Charge move, so that, until the end of the turn, that unit has the Fights First ability. Note that other rules and abilities that trigger when a unit makes a Charge move or in the turn that a unit has charged are not part of the Charge bonus" So basically heroic intervention rules don't prevent the BA from getting their damage bonus.
What happens when I use heroic intervention with Howling Banshees with their banshee masks which grant fights first? Who is attacking first, the unit that charged or the Banshees?
I remember a match with my Chaos Deamons Vs. World Eaters, where for some reasons I've ignored the KB squad with Master of Executions, charging into something nearby. Unfortunately, he heroicly intervened, destroying Skulltaker and half of the squad of bloodletters with MoE alone. This charge could have ended the game in my favour. :( Still got sore taste in my mouth.
so i play doc and half my units have this for free. ive always been confused. Do you get to resolve attacks before the unit youve charged when using this stratagem? (excluding fights first)
I don't think I'll ever get over how ridiculous the Judicar model is. Just, anywhere you look on that model takes me out of the Space Marines aesthetic.
