Sorry I had no idea anyone watched this lol. Yeah clean very well, I probably didn’t clean as well as I should. But it’s still holding strong and has been fully rented since Jan 2021
That old floor is not linoleum. It’s vct. It’s not fun to remove, so you definitely saved yourself some work. But whoever has to remove two layers next time will love you. Why not lay the time in a staggered pattern? I only ever see it installed like that by diy
Hey thanks for the attempt. I tried to watch but got extremely dizzy with the way you swin😊g the camera around all over the place, maybe a tripod would be best, I hope I’m not dizzy all morning, I’m having trouble typing. Thanks anyhow
Im a inventor. Im a home builder. I make things and sell them to stores. I repair everything around the house. In my opinion your job came out excellent. If it was me I would have started from the center and figure out how my KAST FEW PIECES would fall. You dont show it if you ended up with short pueces here and there. Otherwise you did a good job
Correct! Start from center. lay tile out, mark it and snap line on marks made in center. Turned out good once you got past that nasty film all over. you learned the most important thing though and thats to spend more time squeegying then wiping floor in small sections as u go along.
You need to stop skipping around areas so much, and focus on one area at a time before you end up costing yourself a bunch of time, and money. That amount of haze is not normal. Sponge. Wax on wax off til most of it is gone. Single pass of your wingspan per side of sponge at an angle with fresh water.
Yeah I could definitely do better. I only tile for my rentals so I don’t tile all the time. But this tile job is still holding a strong and only cost me $1,600 lol. My house just appraised for $100k more than I bought it for. Time well spent.
Thanks for watching! Yeah the swiffer mops did the best. Wring them out almost fully and wipe away. Obviously I could have done better at not Leaving so much behind. But it’s holding strong

I did use one but it still seemed to just push the haze around and it was difficult getting the haze out of the microfiber. Maybe I’ll try again with better microfiber
Thanks I plan to do the same .You did a Fabulous job
Thanks for taking the time to show how the Mapei works, nice tile job.
I had no idea anyone watched this video
Great video to show people why they want to hire me! I say " You could be him!"
So is the below sequence of steps right?
1. Clean the linoleum flooring
2. Apply Mapei eco pime
3. Apply thinset and install tile

@@PorterSTR so the order is correct Curtis?

Well I’m keeping this house forever so hopefully it holds up. So far so good!
Beautiful

I actually got lucky and wound up with the shortest pieces being about 2” wide. I’m going to take a follow up video next month.

How’s it holding up a year later?? I’m about to attempt this project on one of my rental units, thx!!
Holding like a champ! I’ve had 100’s of family’s stay over the years
I removed the nasty vinyl flooring, but there is the adhesive. It's not too much adhesive. Can I just use this material over the adhesive?
Nice results!!!
Thanks! Still holding strong

"Baby wipes....because you know I have four kids" lol best comment! I'm gonna have to try that and thanks for the tips and tricks!

Nothing beats apple cider vinigar and water solution and a scrubbie to remove any kind of cement or grout film.
Good Video! what was the primer that you used for this?
did you do this over a concrete floot or a wood floor?
Concrete
Thanks for great info. Need to know what kind of glue you used or just normal tile glue.
I used poly reinforced thinset. But any thinset will work
By the way the product says not to use it on this type of substrates
Never done this before hope it works nice lol
I tiled back in Nov 2020. Not a single tile popped.
How many days did it take to finish this project?
Priming was fast. Tiling took me a few weeks
3 words....APPLE CIDER VINEGAR........and water my friend....LOL.......Wow!
I can’t drink that
To do what? Clean the floors? Please explain - I'm a beginner.

Nice bit of tiling.
Thanks! This was my first whole home tile job. Still learning!

Microfiber mops are the best at haze.....

Sir, is your sub floor concrete or wood? Does it work if sub floor had wood and vinyl on top?
Concrete!
Anything else you’ll want a membrane under so you won’t need the primer anyway.
Would have been better without 'music'.
Old tile looks like it might be asbestos tile
House was built in 85 so probably not. Either way I wasn’t gonna pull it up lol.
@@PorterSTR Good decision
gonna fail in tme just wait
