After battling CRPS when I was 11 your story, while difficult to watch is validating to hear someone have such had a similar experience. I too was told it was in my head, had a tiny tiny break and then was finally diagnosed. The cast, the doctors and disbelief is so eerily similar, thankfully my parents like yours fought. Luckily my little leg is still here, I’m grateful to be pain free, however the long lasting trauma and various other conditions that have followed haven’t made it a smooth recovery but I know how lucky I am to be living away from this pain. I’m so glad you made a decision that has given you your life back, everyone’s journey with this harrowing syndrome is different and however you can find a way to live again, it’s good. Thank you for sharing this, it means more than you know 💕

I know that smile so well, I’m lucky enough to know a few fellow crps/rsd amputees and we all wear that smile 🤗 So glad you found the right medical team, that actually understood 🤗

I do have crps and I'm on pain killers. Almost 6 years now. Thinking about amputation. Doctors say I'm crazy. Gemma (GB), if I remember correctly, went on amputation for the same reason

Lilly Tolu Yes gema did! Ive been told that I was crazy for years an I am so glad I found someone who believed me. But an amputation is not always the best option but sometimes it is! I hope/I believe you will fight your way true!!! #rsdwarriors ❤️❤️

Elke Lale Van Achterberg same here I have crps type 2 and chose amputation, my CRPS then migrated but it was still the best decision i made. If diagnosed early enough there could be a treatment plan (pain management team)that may help. Thankfully there is a lot more information and research about crps and amputation these days. We still desperately need doctors to listen to their patients properly and learn know about crps, as it seems patients know more than most doctors. 🤗🤗

That is so scary! I'd always thought of a broken toe almost as a rite of passage, everybody breaks a toe once in their life, you tape it to the toe next to it and take it easy and there you go. A co-worker broke his big toe and they put a pin in it that kept coming out and as of the time I left that job he'd been trying to get the toe amputated because the pin had come out and been put back six times and he was sick of it but I never thought anything worse than losing the toe could happen!

Is English your first language? If not it’s very, very good. Almost no accent at all. Also, that situation with the doctors is very frustrating. I would be furious.

I need to nominate you for a TedTalk, about doctors telling you you're making it up, which led to amputation.

This story is unbelievable! Why didn’t you immediately go to the hospital when you broke your toe? It’s totally crazy you had to decide to cut your leg for the pain... Those doctors were totally insane! They sent you home when you felt so bad... I’m so angry with them! You are a brave and strong young woman... but this story is terrible
