  • Meet James Sterry, an arm amputee and passionate golf enthusiast who invented his own device to continue playing golf after losing his arm in an accident.
Limb Lab client James Sterry shares that while he loves golf, he treasures the connections he makes with people at golf events even more.
James showcased his skills recently at the Iowa Adaptive Golf Tournament, organized by the Iowa Amputee Golf Association, held at Willow Creek Golf Club in West Des Moines, IA.
Limb Lab was delighted to sponsor this event, and we want to congratulate everyone involved in organizing and everyone who participated.

The Iowa Amputee Golf Association was started by a small group of golf lovers in 1992. The goal was to invite amputees from all walks of life to enjoy a day of golf and camaraderie that they would remember for years to come. Since then, we've grown in size and success. Our three-day tournament is open to golfers of all skill levels. Scores on our course range from 70 to 150. No matter where you stand as a golfer, you're guaranteed to have a great time with the Iowa Amputee Golf Association! For more information about our tournament, contact us today. We'll be happy to speak with you and look forward to seeing you out on the course.
The Iowa Amputee Golf Association was formed in 1992 to promote the love of the game of golf and fellowship among amputees. Amputees from all over come to participate in the three day event. It is an enjoyable weekend of great friends, food, and golf. The weekend begins with an 18-hole four person best shot on Friday afternoon followed by the tournament on Saturday and Sunday (18-holes each day). Saturday evening is the board meeting followed by the banquet where everyone gets to choose a door prize, scholarship winners are announced, along with final round pairings for Sunday.
Skill levels of golfers vary widely with scores ranging from 70 to 150. No matter what the skill level, everyone has a great time. Players are broken up into a number of different flights including: arm, leg, multiple, and senior. No matter what your skill level, all are welcome and encouraged to come play in the fun filled weekend.
