A super rare vintage MRE sent in by TUA1911 - huge thanks!
Much like the US Food Packet Long Range Patrol Ration, this freeze dried ration had outer package damage and still held up incredibly well. Certainly worth a look.

Hey everyone, it's great to be back with a couple new reviews. This incredibly rare and never before documented Canadian LWP (Lightweight Patrol)
and another interesting little ration - the Taiwan Type C. So check that one out too. I also have a 1979 Food Packet Long Range Patrol that I'm sharing
in a couple of days hopefully in conjunction with another video that is currently being worked on.

I worked at FreezeDry in Oakville roughly 15 years ago. They were still pumping out those same components, and had amazing sanitation and safety standards

Do you know if they got some of the tooling for this stuff from Oregon Freeze Dried? Because certain parts of it look identical, not the food but the cover and the outer packet of the food. It would make sense since Oregon stopped making these exact ones in 1980 I think.

Great show Steve my mom was Canadian from Navasota. She came here in 1958. Met my dad who was a Marine. Then got married in 1960. Dad went to Nam in 1965 -1968. He loved watching your MREs shows.

Yes.., we always kept or carried extra spoon kept it in the mess tin pouch on the 82 combat harness. This way if you lost or couldnt get to your rucksack you had emergency food and could stretch it out for a day . Ahh the memories 😀. Great job Steve ! Enjoy your vids and learn alot about rations from different countries.

You know ... along with Steve's stunt stomach and the fascinating facts and figures behind the rations... slightly ahead of the catchphrases "lets get this out on a tray... nice!" oh Nice, a never before documented one. and Canadian too. Chicken in a mug has always been prone to chunkiness once you open the container but it is still good. You can still buy it at grocery stores in a jar. I am really glad that most of the meal was edible. This was an awesome review thanks and thanks for documenting this ration. Oh if you want I can send you almost a full box of those exact wet naps.

In the 90's the Canadian rations came in a white box and was boil and serve meals. We got some in the reserves when we did field exercises
I haven't read any comment talking about the funny editing you do when you get the extra liquid off the spoon by tapping it on the edge. I'm not sure why but I find it so amusing.

I thought about this for a long time last night. There's something psychological playing on the mind in these videos. I couldnt figure out what is so addiciting about these. I think it's the sounds, and also the consistency of the content/editing. The cup to the tray, the obvious tray transition scene, and then just the reactions I suppose. "Decent."

Nice to see more rations from the forces of the ol' Homeland! Just as a personal aside, those wet-naps did indeed smell amazing. As a little kid, whenever I got one of those after a meal out if the family was eating something messy, and after using it I would snag another and just SMELL it, fold it back and stow it in the wrapper, and take it back out to smell it until it ran dry in a couple days. They REALLY don't make em like they used to at all, those wet-naps were king.

MSG is fine, the hate on it is dumbfounded like an anti-vaccer.

There is actually scientific evidence regarding the effects that MSG has on some (not all) people. It reduces a barrier in the brain and (I think it was salt) allowed a higher portion of some chemical into the blood stream. some people are less tolerant and it shows up in nasty ways
For the amount used in cooking that never happens. Only adverse health effect ever proven to be linked to MSG are individuals with an allergic type reaction to it. David change does a good piece on MSG defending its use. Some people just viciously hate on it and blame indigestion after eating shitty chinese food on it. Not the fact they just crushed a bunch of unhealthy processed food. MSG has never actually harmed a person, just a lot of people spreading missinfo.
Watching Steve in 2020 and just going far enough back that it goes on a tray and the drink jingles when stirred
