After years of undoing the highest point to let air escape when I get my bathroom hot tap go down to a dribble, I tried this. 5 seconds! Turned the bathroom hot tap on-only a dribble coming out. Held thumb over mixer in kitchen, turned hot on, slowly turned cold on, heard gush from bathroom tap, sorted! Great advice, thank you!

Our power went out this am. When the power came back on, the hot H2O sputtered. I used this method to clear the line. I know Jesus put me to your channel and told me to give her a go. So from the back of the house to the front of the house. It worked great. I'm a disabled widow and tight budget. I just wanted to Thank You so very much and bless you. You were a life saver

Brilliant. Had a plumber over years ago who tried to clear an airlock. He spent hours to no avail, and did not know about this trick. Today I had to empty the cold water tank, and of course got airlocks all over. Tried this trick and everything was working again within a few seconds. BRILLIANT!

Thank you so much! You are a genius!!! This should be one of the first solutions to come up from all these "plumbing experts". Found your video after contemplating pipes and trying to understand what was wrong. Was becoming desperate and thought I had to buy a whole new system. Tried your trick, 2 times * 20/30ish seconds on the main mixer kitchen tap. Worked perfectly!!! No more issues with the hot water! Can't thank you enough!

Worked perfectly. Just replaced my hot water heater and was baffled at no water pressure in the kitchen sink. Thought my wife would be happy with the new water heater. Nope. She was pissed at no water pressure in the sink. Found your video and 10 seconds later had water. She is now very happy!! Thank you.

The water pressure for the hot water tap in the bathroom was low to non-existent. The water pressure for the hot water tap in the kitchen downstairs was fine. This method still worked and restored the water pressure in the bathroom when applied to the kitchen tap. The central heating worked fine, but would reduce the pressure in the bathroom when turned on. Thank you very much, keep up the good work.

This was very helpful!! Thank you so much. I also "googled" how to fix thus and found the same kind of unhelpful videos you spoke about.. our water has been giving us problems for awhile, well turns out we actually have a pipe (pvc) thats either cracked or broke the bond where it's been replaced before and it is literally less than 1/4 below the adapter so I believe we're gonna have to replace the hose and all as it is the cold water side of our shower .. our water will just stop running and we would have to go outside and turn on the outside hydrant.. it's just been getting worse and worse but your simple hack worked even with all that going on! 5 thumbs 👍👍👍👍👍.. awesome..

One of the better DIY vids on YT for understanding and fixing an airlock. I also recommend 'What is air lock?' on the Practical Engineering channel for helping to visualise exactly what's going on in the pipe. My air lock was in the bathroom tank system, the tap is one of those annoying ones you can't block off easily except with a serious seal and my lock was in the cold water, not hot. Still, using these ideas I was inspired to mostly block off the tap by squeezing hard with a wadded up rubber glove and then flood back the bathroom coldwater pipe with the house hot water (reverse to this vid). I think it was important that my toilet cistern (also airlocked) was full, because otherwise the backed up tapwater dribbles into the cistern which is opened by the lowered ballcock, reducing the pressure you need to get the air out. Thanks for the ideas!

Greater pressure from mains indicates an unbalanced water pressure system. In which case I would open both taps then block the spout. Similar results but you should look at placing a pressure valve at the main water entrance to your
    house . Good video. Nice.

Yep! Or, if you have one of those push on bath tap shower thingies, just put it on to the bath taps as usual, take the shower head off the end of the pipe, get the washer out of that end, then put your thumb over the hole in the end of the pipe, making sure the shower "button" is in the shower position and do exactly what Mark did in the video. Hot tap on first, then cold. The cold water has a higher pressure than the hot, so it pushes it back up to the hot tank and should also take the air lock with it.
Heh, the bathroom's a better place to have water spray about after all. 😉
