My Grandfather passed away 5 years ago. I finally found a way to deal with the grief this year. If music helped me- im grateful. I dont know how I got through the grief. Its never over completely but it gets easier. My Papa would NOT want me to grieve for so long. He is happy. Im sure. And he is still with me. Peace and blessings to you & yours. ~From North Carolina. Our hopes to you dear.

You're welcome brother. The Jubilee Hummingbirds anniversary is the first Sunday night in August at New Life M.B Church 1275 Latham Street Memphis, Tenn at 6:00 p.m., doors open at 5. Be Truly Bless (Jubilee Hummingbirds/ Bass Player).
Oh, MY! I haven't heard this song in years!!! You just brought back so many memories for me! They were out of Memphis, TN, not too far from my hometown. My Bigmama (my great-grandmother) loved them, especially "I Won't Have to Cry No More." That was her jam! LOL! I can literally remember her listening to that song on the radio and when they started vamping "I'm washing my robe", she would run out on the back porch screaming and shouting (Baptist style.) LOL! Thanks for stirring those memories!
I love this song been looking for it for years. My dad would play this song on Saturday nights and I remember laying in bed being moved to the words of this song Thanks big sister for sending me here. Thanks to you for the post I love when he say they cut the poor man down Jesus
the jubilee hummingbirds gave us the great soul-shouter james carr, but the mlk reference in this song tells this was after he was on his own. he was likely solo by 1964. search for james carr on youtube. fantastic stuff. and cudos for this from the jubilee hummingbirds. awesome!
These are the precious songs of my youth. Most of my old Lp's are lost. Do you have " Glory's Coming " and " At the Meeting" by the Birds ? I woulf certainly appreciate it as I did this post. Thank you again !
Unfortunately, most of the Gospel classics aren't on Apple Music, Spotify, etc. It's probably the matter of playing the "Waiting Game." For example: For years, a lot of Gospel fans have been waiting for Savoy/Malaco to release a lot of their catalog. In 2019, or possibly before, they began releasing things bit by bit. So, you never know...this song just might end up on there soon.
🙏❤✝ the songs fire but honestly I would rather they say someone killed Jesus Christ Our King Lord help us to make it I believe that would have been more of an impactful gospel line
Back in the day my father used to sing these songs by the hummingbirds on the back porch bring back memories

I am glad that you've enjoyed. I don't have much by the Jubilee Hummingbirds. I will look on the other side of the 45 to see what's on it.
I loved their version of "The Last Mile of the Way" that they song on TV. Did they record it?
I'm really not sure, but I did a search and couldn't find any info on them recording the song.
They may not have recorded it. However, they sang it on their Sunday morning TV show in the 70s in Memphis, TN.
Tried to find this song on Apple Music couldnt find it.. any suggestions??
