Members: Willis Pittman, Norris Pittman, Melvin Wilson, Lonnie Hawley, Cliff Alston, Tommy Daughtridge, Donnie Daughtridge, Lee Walker and Cornellus Winfro.
The Burden Lifters originated in the 1970s in Richmond, Virginia. Willis Pittman was originally a background singer for the group, but due to his outstanding lead and songwriting capabilities he eventually became the lead singer and namesake for the group. It was at this time that the group became known as Willis Pittman and The Burden Lifters.
In the early 1980s, Willis' baby brother, Norris Pittman, became part of the group. Over the years The Burden Lifters have had many great and talented members. The group reorganized in 2002. Willis and Norris Pittman are still members of the group today.
Willis Pittman & The Burden Lifters have released many chart topping albums and CD's including; "Ups and Downs", "Noah", "Little Johnny", "Always on Time", "Bless the People", "Old Toe Joe", "Thunder", "Live in Rocky Mount" and most recently on the Melendo record label, "Listen To What The Word Is Saying".
Willis Pittman & The Burden Lifters have shared the stage with many legendary Quartet groups such as The William Brothers, Slim & The Supreme Angels, Lee Williams & The Spiritual QC's, The Canton Spirituals, The Highway QC's, Jay Caldwell & The Gospel Ambassadors, Keith Wonderboy Johnson & The Spiritual Voices, Darrell McFadden & The Disciples, Luther Barnes & Sunset Jubilaires, The Mighty Clouds of Joy just to name a few. Willis Pittman & The Burden Lifters have also had the opportunity to appear at the GMWA, The American Gospel Quartet Convention among many other Gospel music events.

The first time hearing this song was a week ago when the funeral home played it at my husband's viewing. I haven't been able to stop listening to it every since.

Sitting here in tears as I listen to this song. Today marks 1 yr since my uncle left this world to return no more. I can still hear him sing this as he did when the men's choir at church sang. I miss you so much Uncle Richard.

Lawd my mom played this song after a friend of hers had passed... I absolutely love it
I was a little girl and mama & grandma wanted to go to a concert to see them. Praise Jesus I saw Big Red and Swanee Quinetet, I saw the fabulous Vollunaires (my fave), this group, and so many more. I was in between 3rd to 5th grade at a Gymnasium an I praise God they say til they told me don’t stop her. They said let her go.
