Legends will be remembered for ever and James is one of this legends his voice and face will always be associated with Max Payne one unique actor and talented man. Thank you for all the memories James.
That beginning level of Max Payne still haunts me to this day… you hear someone upstairs, then cries for help, baby cries and then you see your baby and wife dead… seesh
You should also change Bullet Time and Shootdodge to different buttons, for example BT to Right Mouse Key and Shootdodge to Left Shift, even if the default has them in one button.. I cringed hard when the gameplay in this video suggests he completed the whole game using only Shootdodge (which jumps too low because of the fps) because by default you have to stop and stand still to activate BT and that can quickly get you killed in fights.
I couldn’t agree more. One solid remake of the first 2 games and a solid remaster of the 3rd with some extra content and it would be perfection. After that no more hands on the Max Payne series. That’ll be the final icing of this cake of an amazing series.
It’s not Max Payne without McCaffreys voice, I already know I’ll be playing the originals forever, I’m just happy that Max Payne is being brought to the spotlight one last time.
I played through this game so many times when i first got sn Xbox. It was short enough to be played through in a sitting or two. Halo and Max Payne over and over in the early Xbox days. Great times.
I had no idea James McCaffrey died and hearing you just blurt it out was like a shot to the gut. I’m a fucking wreck now, Jesus. I love all three Max Payne games, but have a special fondness for the third one. I know it was made by Rockstar and had a drastically different style, being in hazy Brazil and not cloaked in night New York, but I it still felt like a Max Payne game and was a fitting conclusion to the series, and I just loved it. I beat that fucking thing on Old School difficulty on console. That game desperately needs a remaster. The console versions still look good but have a ton of aliasing and of course are capped at 30fps. A 4K, 60fps remaster would be incredible for a game that deserves to be remembered along with its older brothers. Rest in peace James. I thought Alan Wake 2 was a fantastic game and I’m going to miss hearing your voice.
I'd highly recommend a movie called Meskada if you've never seen it. It's a damn good movie with James McCaffrey in a great supporting role. It came out in 2012 I believe. The man could act, and the creative world definitely took a hit with his passing.
I totally get the feeling. That's how I felt when I learned tommy the OG green/white ranger committed suicide. Fucked me up. I grew up with that man. Same with max Payne. These are the moments you realize we're getting old friend.
I love MP1 so much. It has that unique flavor of atmosphere that I felt didn't get revisited in 2 and 3. Don't get me wrong, 2 and 3 are fantastic in their own right but 1 is a special game. I kind of prefer the characters looking so normal and average in the comic cutscenes - it kind of makes it feel a lot more believable. Or maybe it plays on the cheese factor that actors wouldn't have been able to replicate? I don't know.
I used to play this game with my dad, and those times were great, now my dad barely talks to me, maybe because I grown up, but him and I love this game
The Max Payne trilogy got me through some terrible times and it's always really fun to see a different perspective on some of my favorite mechanics and story points. Great video as always!
Love the video!! I’m so happy you’re finally covering one of my all-time favorite trilogies in gaming. Btw I LOVE the new “end of video” picture,it’s showing your OC on a bank heist with the Yakuza protagonists while being chased by the GTA 5 protagonists. And at the same time, Wei Shen is right about to Action Hijack Michael, Franklin, and Trevor lmao Your crossover pictures are so imaginative.
@AnushrutaMitra About same! It's especially Effed because we are hardwired to baby cries that's even how cats make us feel the same. It's harrowing! Love cats tho 😍
Man I haven’t played this game since PlayStation 2, back in like 2002 ish or close when it came out, thanks to my dad. Now fast forward I’m 28 now and as I write this comment, I’m on with what seems the last chapter of this game. The storytelling is intriguing ,very dark, and lots of gun play. It’s fun and even better since I’m old enough to understand the plot.
replaying this now and what an amazing game this is. the atmosphere is unmatched. sometimes in the beginning i would just sit there and take in the lonely make shift bars, subways, bathrooms, its very silent hill/jacobs ladder vibes. this game was also my first ever rated M game at 8 years old when i got it at blockbuster for ps2 to rent. my uncle was the one to let me rent it, my parents would never have let me, and the beginning of this game, hearing those baby cries and also your wife, just to find them dead, killed so horribly, it stuck with me forever. remember never being able to finish this game because of the nightmare level being too scary for me. still in my top 10 games of all time.
Lets go! Another one of few games i return to every few years to replay. The style of storytelling and overall setting is great, story is solid and basic, with few ticks to make it dynamic, gameplay is a fun, but not perfect... It was all pretty much mentioned in the video to not repeat myself. Oh, and since i went to costume party as Max few years back, i love to quote it every few often, especially during a colder than a walk-in fridge winter May James Rest in Peace ❤️
i remember when i was younger and my dad got us a copy of max payne for the ps2, we had so much fun just giggling like idiots at the dialogue and the faces max makes RIP James McCaffery thanks for the laughs mate
Knocking over the antenna wasn't intuitive to me so I cheated and watched a walkthrough on what I was supposed to do there. A big issue for me (and one of my biggest gripes about this game) is how, when I hadn't yet figured out how to take down the helicopter, I was forced to watch that same unskippable death cut scene over again each time. How far back you sometimes end up after dying will make you hate yourself for forgetting to hit F5.
Remember my uncle brought this game. This was my first mature rated game so I immediately was hesitant on playing (Iv play resident evil maybe once) . I let my little brother play while I was reading the instructions manual. The voice acting creeped me the FCK out.
Max Payne 1 - 3 is the greatest fucking game ever. The diving mechanics were amazing and Bullet Time was even more amazing. The only downside were that the bosses were easy as hell to beat in MP 1. ❤
Just a note about the dynamic difficulty is that it technically only works in Fugitive, I say technically cause I think it also works for the other modes but it seems all the stats are the same whether you stay alive for a long time or you keep dying a lot.
Max payne 3 is an absolute masterpiece, MASTERPIECE Its like how the fourth die hard movie should of played out, no department would hire a cop that does that much damage hed have to go into private security or some such industry
I do think it is good they have a decent budget for the remakes, but it is the budget of one game to remake two. I'm still absolutely pumped for it though.
I've played Max Payne since the release. It's my personal favorite. Mona had no point in the story tbh. Dies in comes back to life in the first game then to show up again in the second to play as her just for her to die lol. Everything is amazing with the games instead of the bugs.
Great video like all ways. Would be cool if you could cover the x-men Legends games relay dope x-men games. I hope one day in the future we get another x-men game something like x-men legends with a lot characters from the comic book.
A small but strange tip I was playing Max Payne for the first time to completion and I noticed I was getting hit in bullet time constantly . Outside of bt however if you press space and a direction other than in front of you, Max does a combat roll and the enemy A.I is temporarily stunned, in that during the first part of the roll when you are in the air the enemy will not turn to shoot at you directly until Max completes the roll it made the adaptive difficulty a pushover.
RIP James McCaffrey (1958-2023). He WAS Max Payne. Nobody can replace him.
Keith david would be a great Max Payne
Legends will be remembered for ever and James is one of this legends his voice and face will always be associated with Max Payne one unique actor and talented man. Thank you for all the memories James.
Like how Michael Ironside is the only Sam Fisher. 👍
A few months ago, when I heard that I cried so much until I got sick, 🥀 RIP james
did you tell that to SAM LAKE? he is the original max payne
That beginning level of Max Payne still haunts me to this day… you hear someone upstairs, then cries for help, baby cries and then you see your baby and wife dead… seesh
remember to limit the games fps to 60 otherwise jumping and shootdodging wont work correctly like in this video
This ☝️☝️
Yeah, that was fucking with me lol. Still a good video tho!
You should also change Bullet Time and Shootdodge to different buttons, for example BT to Right Mouse Key and Shootdodge to Left Shift, even if the default has them in one button.. I can’t wait for the remake since Remedy is going 1 and 2 combined, although James has passed I hope the new guy can nail it.
I couldn’t agree more. One solid remake of the first 2 games and a solid remaster of the 3rd with some extra content and it would be perfection. After that no more hands on the Max Payne series. That’ll be the final icing of this cake of an amazing series.
First I'm hearing about it! _Now I'm nervously hyped!_
Ehh either get a sound alike or just reuse the audio nothing wrong with his original performance
It’s not Max Payne without McCaffreys voice, I already know I’ll be playing the originals forever, I’m just happy that Max Payne is being brought to the spotlight one last time.
@@TheRealRusDaddy I think a new guy can give a more genuine performance then using archival dialogue.
Truly heartbreaking losing James McCaffrey. It won’t be the same without him.
And Kevin Conroy
Kevin's in Max Payne2 believe it or not.
Keith david would be a great Max Payne
I just love how this game (and GTA 3) is indirectly anti-drug
Atleast it does not force it upon you, like the DEA does/
Fun fact, vlad in the first game was modeled after Marko saaresto, lead vocalist of poets of the fall and Sam lakes’ personal friend
And nicole horne is his mother I guess, read somewhere so
Alfred Woden is Sam's Lake father.
One of the most iconic games of all time, words can’t describe how much I love MP1 & 2.
I played through this game so many times when i first got sn Xbox. It was short enough to be played through in a sitting or two. Halo and Max Payne over and over in the early Xbox days. Great times.

My favorite UA-camr just uploaded man
I used to play this game with my dad, and those times were great, now my dad barely talks to me, maybe because I grown up, but him and I love this game
Talk to him. Maybe he thinks the same about you and doesn’t want to bother you.
Loved seeing this game again. Thanks for all your reviews of these older games. I really appreciate your take and style of these videos.
The Max Payne trilogy got me through some terrible times and it's always really fun to see a different perspective on some of my favorite mechanics and story points. Great video as always!

I once tried to do a Molotov only run. There was a symphony of screams. It was worth the struggle.

Baby nightmare terrified me. Was born 1990. Childhood game
I was 10 when I first played this game. I was home alone. it was all dark, it was 3am in the morning. it really scared me a lot

oh god i never knew that....i remember playing this and it became incredibly hard.

Insane game, i fondly remember the details in the environment and its destructability blowing my mind as a kid.
finished the game yesterday , the GOAT game

If you wanna play an X-Men game I do recommend X-Men legends, it's a 4 person team game with slight RPG elements
Lol loved the Bricky shout out. Sam Lake you hack! (Affectionate)
Just finished playing Max Payne 3 for the first time. It was really good. Felt nostalgic because the shooting was similar to GTA
Happy birthday!
Another banger as always dawg. I know you covered the first godfather game. It would be pretty cool if you did one on the second. 🤘🤘
Remember my uncle brought this game. This was my first mature rated game so I immediately was hesitant on playing (Iv play resident evil maybe once) . I let my little brother play while I was reading the instructions manual. The voice acting creeped me the FCK out.
Wow. Max Payne looks exactly like Alex 'Cold Case' Casey. Trippy ;)
_My childhood nightmare, _*_Lets get it!_*
Max Payne 1 - 3 is the greatest fucking game ever. The diving mechanics were amazing and Bullet Time was even more amazing. The only downside were that the bosses were easy as hell to beat in MP 1. ❤
Happy b day dog! Love your videos so much. You’re so best dog
Excellent as usual fuzzy I just got done watching the GTA Advance video and was wondering if you’d be covering the first 2 Games as well?
Another great video!! The the Flcl scooter
I played the game for the first time this year on my phone
Damn now I gotta wait for max Payne 2 since nobody ever talks about it
My fave game of ALL-TIME!
Fuzzy l remember when max Payne 1 and 2 came out in 2001 and 2003
All 3 games are now backwards compatible with the Xbox One and series x and s
Max Payne 3 was my childhood
Sami Järvi, on 20th anniversary, made a video where he dug up the leather jacket he wore for Max Payne. :)
i liked mark walberg and i could totally see max payne the whole movie. i thought it was cool
hell yeah to that Sam Lake you hack clip from bricky lmaooo
Still my favorite video game of all time.
His pronunciation on valkyrie is killing me
It’s Payne!
Just a note about the dynamic difficulty is that it technically only works in Fugitive, I say technically cause I think it also works for the other modes but it seems all the stats are the same whether you stay alive for a long time or you keep dying a lot.
As always, awesome 🍻👍
Finally a video on Max Payne. Nice work F.S!
Max payne 3 is an absolute masterpiece, MASTERPIECE
Its like how the fourth die hard movie should of played out, no department would hire a cop that does that much damage hed have to go into private security or some such industry
No
It would be cool if they could use AI to replicate the OG Max Payne voice... Maybe donate whatever payment he would have received to his family. RIP
You should play
*Max Payne 2: Fall Of Max Payne*
The game is definitely worth you're attention!
I cant unsee the punisher lol. But this was so dooe growing up lok
Max payne is my favorite game same with the other two titles Fly High James McCaffrey we will miss you
One of my all time favorite games and despite how good it is I think I like both of its sequels better (definitely in the case of 2)
You didn't mention one of my favorite parts, the "Sure you want to quit" cards. So many times i just couldn't quit
Casi no entiendo ingles. Pero casi no se encuentran reseñas tan buenas en español. Good video
Love this game. Played all 3 and I like them all, but this one I like most. You're a constipated Bruce Willis, in the next game you're Hugh Laurie.
I do think it is good they have a decent budget for the remakes, but it is the budget of one game to remake two. I'm still absolutely pumped for it though.
Gotta do max payne 2 as well as a follow up
Lock the framerate so the shoot dodge wont be broken
Amazing still the only video game to pull off bullet time right.
Mooooooooooooooom!!!! HE POSTED AGAIN!!!!!!!
Hopefully you cover part 2 & 3
Ah yes the infamous brickle “SAM LAKE YOU HACK”
The Mr. Beast jumpscare got me laughing a lot more than it should have.
ever with the remake i hope they'll take the destroy all humans remake path and just remaster the audio files from the origonal
replaying max payne 1 with dmc tracks is a weird trip that you should totally do some time also i like the video gold star.
Legit can't wait for you to do a video on MP3 the head shaving scene is fucking great
Keith david would be a great Max Payne
This game need to be remastered
Max payne 1 and 2 were such iconic games
32:53 this levels gave early backroom vibez !
I am not a gamer UNLESS its got a good story and boy did this one get me., I loved it so much
I'm excited for the remakes coming.

"Im mr beast" really took me out of it
Do yourself a favor and play Max Payne 1 and 2 to DJ Shadows album Endtroducing. One of the best moments ive ever had in gaming. Legendary games.
It sucks that James won't be here to witness the remake
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These 2 games are masterpieces!
3
@@mr.andrew78203 for me was ok
3 wasnt remedey and therefore not really a max payne for me... just another boring shooter@@mr.andrew7820

I don't think talking about what you played necessarily tells you what your age is because my first game was FF1 on NES and I'm 29 hahaha
23 years later... Damn I feel old, but still paly it to this day. just don't forget the patches for 1
Is Max Payne a great game?
Don't answer that, a rhetorical question.
Rip James McCaffrey
IM ALREADY HERE FOR IT!
A small but strange tip
I was playing Max Payne for the first time to completion and I noticed I was getting hit in bullet time constantly .

James McCaffrey is Max Payne
Killing me with this stretched aspect ratio
Sam Hack, you lake! Amazing video!
one of my fav games
