I got hopeful when I saw that beautiful house on your right just as you started, but it started getting worse really fast. I haven't really "studied" it, but in 1860 Census there were about 60,000 Freed Blacks living in the state of Virginia--even though it was illegal for them to remain in the state once they were freed. So the idea of black families moving from one place to another looking for opportunities and such has a legacy of 160 years of staying put. That is, except for the periods of the two "Great Migrations" when blacks were organized to move north. More than ever, have a Happy Thanksgiving!
