Great stuff George- I wish we had more crates to open up, I think maybe I opened less than a dozen in my life and enjoyed every one! 😃👍
Thanks John, that would be nice if they would go back to using crates. You're right they are a joy to open.
Nice job, George. That was a "crate" cleanup you did. It'll definitely make a nice addition to an extremely impressive collection.
Thanks Brother! I'm stoked to add it! The collection is growing piece by piece.
Ah yes, the unforseen rabbit hole of revealing defects that make you grit your teeth! Glad the stamping was deep enough to preserve. Looks great! 👍🛠
Yo Matt, Thanks Brother, Ya it was one of those times where going further was what it needed. Take care and I'll catch up with ya later.
That turned out very nice. I was unsure what that tool was until you mentioned crate tool. Overall a nice restoration. Thanks for exposing me to a new tool.
Thank You Dan, They are just a fantastic tool and there are a lot of different makers of them. Just a word of caution they are very easy to start collecting and hard to pass up when you see them. Take care Buddy!
Nice looking tool 👍 and a fantastic job and video thanks as always for sharing your time Thanks again George 🍺🍺👍👍
Thanks Brian! I appreciate ya checking in, take care Brother! 🍺🍺🍻
It looks great George, I was thinking you may Blue it. Looks great on the wall with its cousins, good Diamond collection.
Thanks Mr. Dale! I thought about it but I liked the way the steel looked. I wish I could find some more of their family! Like their 24in adjustable Grandpa! Take care and I'll catch up with ya soon.
ill keep a eye out.
What a great bloke that Jim is ... I used to look forward to his videos .... George i agreed when you said just a clean then reagreed when i saw how deep the stamping was , SPOT on finish , couldnt/wouldnt have done better myself.
You are right Mr. Stools,
That Jim is an awesome guy and his content is the Best! Thank you I appreciate your encouragement and continued support. Please tell Jim thank you for the crate tool.
Turned out nice! Good for another 100 years
Thank You! I hope it is around for that long, and someone else enjoys it as much as we do.
Excellent job! Good call on cleaning it up and not going for the full resto. That thing is a solid addition to the wall of love!
Thanks Brother!
Another diamond in the rough shined up by George. Great job buddy. Love your restorations or clean ups.
Take care buddy and give our love to your family.
Great comment
@shedmanx3640 Thank you my Brother! I truly appreciate your support. Take care and big hugs to you and the family. keep cool.
Great job! It's always hard time to time when the steel just doesn't cooperate 😅. It still came out great and will see you Sunday
Thanks Mike, I appreciate ya checking in. Take care and give the puppers a pat from us and i'll catch up with ya later.
Hey brother, its always fun when you are just gonna do a lil clean up and the next thing you know you are up to your beard in a full blown museum quality restoration!! But good shop time is never wasted time! Looks like we are gonna have a cold one next week so stay safe and keep warm brother!!
Hey Patrick, Thanks! I thought it was gonna be a quick little project but ya it turned into a whole thing. LOL. Take care and stay warm too Brother.. Hope the rest of the week goes easy for ya.
I do like those old crate tools, love to get my hands on one of the wooden handled ones. Great job, its starting to look like youre making a shrine 👍🏻
Hey Alex, They are just cool tools, The wood handle ones are real gems. I hope you find one so you can work your resto majic on it. they aren't too common in the wild here. It's my little Diamond mine..Take care and I'll catch up with ya later.
Really cleaned up nice. Glad you went further to clean up that concave side.
Thanks Kid! I'm happy I did it too, this will be in the collection so it won't see any action. I have a few others that can be the work horses so to speak. Hope you have a great rest of the week. Take care Brother!
Nice job Super George! The ols crate tool looks awesome with the satin finish.
Thanks Captain Ivan! I'm happy with how it came out and I am very grateful to have it in my little collection. Hope all is well down there. Stay warm.
Good morning, George 🍁🇨🇦🔧💪👍
I have a set of Dimond throwing shoes that were manufactured in toronto ontario. The only thing I am missing are the pins
Hey Dan O!
@ That's cool! Sure ain't horseshoe throwing weather now, Take it easy Brother and stay warm.
Turned out great. It looks much better, and you are 100 percent succesful on preserving the stamped in lettering. Your comment about forging quality is interesting. Sometimes you don't notice manufacturing glitches until you get home and start working on the tool. Same goes for previous owner abuse and damage of the tool. Always a surprise at the swap meet.
Hello Pat! That's true you never know what the tool will be hiding until you start cleaning it up. Then you just gotta go with it and see where the project takes you. sometimes a clean up is just fine and sometimes you have to go a little further just depends on what the tool tells you. Take care my friend.
George that crate tool came out shiny and new❤. I was wondering how it would look with that big pot hole of a bad forging? I couldn't even tell it even was there! Great job. Tool collectors can never let tools look bad!
Hey Stephen! Thank you , This one will be on full display and not used so it really did need the extra attention to look right. Hope you are doing good and I'll catch up with ya later.
Fine job George, I like Diamalloy stuff myself, agree w ScoutCrafter opening a crate is a too bad long lost joy, I was fortunate as a kid to tear into many in my Grandpas shop, treated burlap bags full of cast iron fittings crated up in those oak & pine crates I can still smell that today, Cheers Pal!
Hey Mike, I know it's a shame that the world has gone to plastic. You're lucky if you even get something on a wood skid now a days. That sounds like you had a fantastic childhood. Take care Brother and hope you have a good rest of the week!
Fine job, I love the all steel crate tools. Never worry about the imperfections. Like we say in the antique business, sometimes you gotta let old stuff be old stuff.
Thank You Roland, That's true and most times I will leave more character but I just felt this one needed to be a bit more polished. Take care and hope you are doing well.
You and that sander, and that thinking aid ,
did a spectacular job!
I had a chance to buy one of those style sanders for $10.....I said " Naa, I don't use those......."
Thanks Brother!
Well if one presents itself again I say go for it. try it you might like it! I got my sander from the flea market.
@@Uwannawatch I could kick myself for picking that very day to start saving money.
A fine addifion to the wall. Those tools last forever... Like Diamonds! 😊😊😊
Thanks! Diamonds are forever...seriously these tools are fantastic and well made.
Looks good, George you have a nice collection there.
Thanks Michael, My little collection is growing one tool at a time! Take care.
That is a cool tool! Nice job George!
Thanks Kurt, I do love me a Diamond tool and crate tools are yet another thing I collect. 😁
Nice job keep up the good contact and I’ll see you on the next one.
Thank You! I'll see ya next time.
It was a better world when things came in crates.
You are right about that Guy! The good old days when you could order anything and it never showed up damaged!
Very well done. going the little extra made it Great looking tool and looks fantastic on the wall.
Thanks Mike, I'm quite happy with it and am grateful to add it to my little collection. take care brother and I'll catch up with ya later.
Crate tools are always fun to do
Hey Larry, Yes they are! I really enjoy them. I have a few more to get to one of these days.
I picked up a Little Giant Staple puller . Same tool . Cleaned it up and I use it a LOT .
NICE video .
Sweet! They are very useful tools. This one will be displayed only. I got a few that are users. I appreciate ya checking in!
Hey !George vraiment une très belle restauration de cet outil, il brille comme neuf et en belle place, parmi les autres. ❤
Thank You Patrick, It is one that is for display only and I am very happy to have it in my collection. Take care my friend.
You did a really nice job and I think you made the right decision to go a little further with it. I’m glad the Corona helped you out! 😂😂😂
Thanks Fred G! Never underestimate the power of liquid awesome.😂😂. Take it easy Brother I'll catch up with ya later.
Wall looks great... working for a moving company for many years, I have opened many crates.. we never had a crate tool though just hammer and pry bar.. nice work on thr crate tool! Real Glad ya took it to higher shine!
Thanks Big Brother! Oh so you had the deluxe 2 piece crate opening kit! . I am glad I took this one up a notch too! Looked like someone forged it in the ugly mold on a Monday.
I kind of like the dents and dings of a vintage tool, it shows the history. With that being said, I do agree that yours was a little too far gone for a simple cleanup. Nice job!! 👍
Thank you! You know I prefer to leave some character and history on the tools most of the time. It isn't very often that I feel the need or want to go beyond a good clean and a touch up. some tools just call for it.
Nice job on bringing new life to a vintage keeper...🖖
Thank You! It is certainly a keeper for the collection.
Again a very, very gooooood job, Mr George, Don't worry about the Scars or deep points on the body or the tool,in my personal opinión that scars speak a story, about, story of work, story of war of the tool, just a point or wiew, the owner, have a final Word, about this final look of the tool, well just remember and please repeat:LONG LIFE OLD SCHOOL TOOLS, from South American Country of Chile, Sergio La Fuente Rojas third generation owners Hardware Store, always watching the channel.
Thank You my friend! I do like a bit of character on a tool if it's from use but this one was more of a forging issue I believe so it was a good candidate to polish up a bit more. It
's now going to be a displayed tool. Hope all is well down there!
Came out great George! I wonder how that would have looked blued after sanding. Have a good rest of the week!
Thanks Brother! I thought about it but I really liked how the polished steel looked. Maybe I'll do another one of them and use the bluing on it. Have a good rest of the week too!
Nice job. 👍🏻😃🇺🇲
Thanks Joe, I appreciate ya checking in Brother.
Very cool addition. Came out super clean
Thanks Man, I am very happy to add it to the wall. I know I usually don't bring them to a shine like this but it was really calling for it and there wasn't any character just rough forging. Take care hop you are having a good week so far.
I think Jim might have stolen that tool from my shop but anyway I'm glad it's found its way to a good home. it was also nice to see you man up and give it to finish it needs. Seriously, it looks terrific and really looks good on your display
Well Mr. John he did say don't ask where it came from! 😅. I'm glad I took it up a notch too. That forging was just not good. My collection is growing slowly but surly. Take care and I'll look for some more tools with japanning to send ya! 😂
Come on very nice thank you for the video
Thank You! I really appreciate ya tuning in and leaving me a nice comment. Hope you have a good rest of the week and I'll catch up with ya later.
Great job George, it came up really well. Maybe for us overseas viewers you could tell us briefly about the manufacturers and where they come from or came from, many of us aren’t familiar with the various companies across the pond. Cheers
Hello Robert! Thank you! Sorry brother i think I just assume everyone knows these brands. If you want a good channel for tool history's and restorations check out @johnfix1. He has a fantastic channel and I know he has a video on one of these Diamond crate tools.
Great job George love it.
Thanks Ken! I'm happy with how it came up and happy to have it in my collection. Thanks for checking in!
Extra groovy, neat tool I've never seen
Thanks Brother! They are cool tools! Maybe one day I'll show my whole collection of them.
Glad you decided to go a little further on that one. Sometimes an adult beverage and some contemplating is what it takes to make a decision. It's looking sweet now.👍🏻🛠
Mike,Mike,Mike! Thanks Brother! Yep sometimes you just need a little drink about it to show ya the way. I heard Mr. John Fix saying " you know you better take that up a notch" LOL. You know he loves the Diamond tools too.
Very useful tool. Great job.
Thanks Bill!
Lookin' good!
Thanks Man, I really appreciate it!
I got one of these tools from my dad and always thought it was a roofing hammer. Thanks for the correction.
Hi Kevin, I'm happy that the video helped you out. They are really useful tools. Thanks for tuning in, I appreciate it.
Nothing like an adult beverage to help a man make up his mind. Looks great Brother, about how old is it do you think? Take care. Say hi to Chrissy for us.
Hey My Northern Brother, That's why I call it a drink about it. LOL. It's probably 30's -40's . Thank You and hello back to you guys! Take care and stay warm!
Very nice job Gorge
Thanks! I am quite happy with it and to add it to my collection. Hope all is well with you.
What a gem 💎
Yes it is! Thanks for checking in Scott!
Excellent find Brother
Thanks Brother, I went to Columbus Sunday but they were closed! Hope you are staying warm.
@ gonna sub below temperatures for the rest of the month
Nice video.
Thank You Brother!
Good job!
Thank You Mr, Wallace!
George, are you an ex-Coastie? I noticed your MSST San Fran shirt. I'm retired CG, now civilian CG.
Negative, I have lots of friends and family in the CG. Thank you for your service.
