You are looking at the most resourceful people ever!!! If they don't have it and need it, they grow it, harvest it, make it, or invent it. It is a different mindset and carry dignity in daily living. It isn't for everyone.
I think they're richer than me by a mile. I live in a modern city and would give it up in a heartbeat. It all depends upon what your measure of wealth is.
My dad was born and raised in Majestic, Kentucky. The last time I was there in 84' nothing had changed. But I love the mountains!!! So sad that they are still forgotten.
Not everyone in WV lives like this. We have nice homes and running water. The people that do live like this are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.
I would use a well kept out house over a public bathroom any day. The way this country is going people will wish they knew what these mountain people do.
If you live further away from shopping and work the poorer you are. A long drive to work means more gasoline$$. Rural grocery stores have increased shipping costs and less competition to keep prices low.
@@timc_in_tn Clue me in then, Instead of erasing my comments. Many of them don't want their help, like me, but there are many that do, like paving roads, installing sewer systems. They are ignored because they don't generate enough money for them. But I would love to hear your view, that's how we all learn and as a old man I still like to learn.
Your comment isn't erased. They don't send money. They send our old military equipment. Then, by doing that, it creates jobs here to replenish our stock pile.
This video is so wrong. There are places like those shown here but most live there by choice. We have our problems, just like cities do but few people live as those shown here. It's still better than the cardboard boxes people live in around all cities. Go shiow those people and leave us alone.
They're sure living on handouts now. "These people " are dead, and gone. Replaced by their junkie welfare grandkids. Don't believe me just go visit Manchester, Harlan, hazard, Pikeville just to name a few.

Most of them don’t want what we consider better. They’d rather live simple
