    Joe and I have the Basecamp model, since there are always at least the 2 of us to boil water for. This can handle 2 coffees, 1 hot cocoa and 2 oatmeals from our experience, and there was still water left for more.

      The base camp model would be a nice addition to the cars emergency pack. Free fuel and copious amounts of hot water whenever wherever. Great stove and kettle combo. Take it easy pal.

    It's definitely a great system, I have the trekker for solo hikes and have the scout model ordered. Anyone who buys one won't be disappointed. In not much time with the trekker I had water boiled for coffee and a second kettle boiled for rice then using the hobo attachment I cooked teriyaki beef and broccoli to finish a meal for myself and my son.

    8:20 inverting the base distorts space-time, reduces gravity and thus mass while simultaneously accelerating time relative to inertial frame of the kettle.

    Brillant kit. Took one on my bushcraft courses to learn about how to use it and now I leave it in the car on trips out. It boils water and you can use the base as a stove. I am glad they changed the cork stopper because that used to pop out at high pressure even if you just put it in lightly. When the kettle boiled, even on it's chain, it was quite alarming. Good video!

      I totally agree. It's a brilliant bit of kit. I use mine on a regular basis. I think I may also leave mine in the motor as an emergency stove. Its very versatile. The whistle bung is a must! Take it easy buddy.

    The pot support you can always take a little tape and tape it on the side of the kettle so it wont get lost. Even though you have the bag. Thanks for the video just bought one and learned alot

    Bought the Kelly Kettle Trekker Kit and tried it out in my backyard to get used to it. It's quite astonishing how little fuel it takes and how well the kit was thought out.
    Simplicity has a beauty of its own :)

    I just bought the base camp version I believe it’s 1.6 litres rather than 2 litres. I’m in Ireland but it was cheaper to buy it from The Netherlands than locally

    To reduce the risk of fire I use the pot stand to keep the fire pot off the ground. Otherwise you severely charge the ground under the burner pot. For extra safety a piece of carbon felt never hurts

    You can put the pot stand where the chain connects to the body slip it in between the body and the chain holder and put the stopper bun down the chimney and it will hold it in place I do this with all of my Kelly kettles if I can figure out how to leave you a picture I will

    Boil water and cook your meals at the same time?
    Could you tag the timestamp where you show that happening simultaneously?
    Thanks in advance.

      Hiya, I didn't have the cook stand at the time of the review, but it is a feature of the stove. Although you do have a finite window to do so.

    I’ve been in contact with that company for a DECADE. I’m still waiting for the titanium version. They keep saying they will make one, but they have not. Bushcraft now is mainstream & people with money Bushcraft and can afford a Titanium version. I just dropped $150 ( 50 off discount ) on the Titanium Grahl version for example. Kelly needs to be pulled kicking and screaming into the UL version.

    Easy to pack away? Way too big to carry, brother. I would have liked to see you test it against some of the company claims. Boiling water is not much of a test. This looked like a paid commercial. I'll check out your other videos to learn more about you. Thanks for sharing

    • @BushcraftWithSteOutdoors
      @BushcraftWithSteOutdoors  9 місяців тому +1

      Yeah it is bulky, but in fairness packing it away in its bag is no biggy. It is probably something to carry as opposed to packing in the ruck though 😆

  • @Chris66able
    @Chris66able 8 місяців тому

    The only reason for getting one of these is nostalgia. They are heavy, bulky, and inefficient when you factor in gathering fuel as well as carrying it. You can not cook on the top unless you cook in a couple of min because of the boil speed. Outdated junk.

    • @BushcraftWithSteOutdoors
      @BushcraftWithSteOutdoors  8 місяців тому +5

      It's funny how you mention it's inefficiency and then proceed to say you can only cook on the top for a few mins because of boil times! Every biomass stove requires you to collect fuel first. Yes it's heavy, but you can get small units for hiking about with and even titanium variants now that use meth stoves. Regarding it efficiency, it uses freely available fuel to bring water to a boil within minutes in any conditions. It also doubles as a cooker using tue base with a stand. Each to there own I suppose
