@@First-p1n I was talking about vocal capabilities. In any era, Adele is nowhere near Mariah's vocal prowess. I also believe that Mariah's songwriting, production, and success is way better than Adele. So they're not at the same level. Adele isn't up there with Mariah.

Adele is a good singer but she can't hit these crazy high notes. Some singers are great at hitting low notes (Adele), some are great at hitting high notes (Xtina), but Mariah is great at BOTH.

Fun fact, even if her xmas song didn’t exist she’d still be in the top 3 best selling female artists of all time. Her xmas album isn’t even her best selling album either, it’s like the 4th. And even if her xmas song didn’t exist she would still have 18 #1s which is STILL the most out of ANY solo artist in history (bc she has 19), the only artist to have more is The Beatles, who have 20 #1 hits.

This was filmed at Silver Cup Studios in Astoria, Queens, NY in April of 1992. She was 1 of the 1st artists to perform on MTV Unplugged (which was a very new show at that time). She wanted to show critics that she could sing Live, because many industry critics claimed she was Only a Studio Singer and that all those whistle notes couldn't be that well executed or controlled. At this Show she had recently turned 22 y.o. She also performed a Cover of The Jackson 5's , I'll Be There. It shot up the charts and became her 6th Billboard #1 song (she has 19 #1 songs) . She also is the artist who has the most weeks at #1. Adding up all her #1 songs and they have spent 95 Weeks in the #1 position.

-Vision Of Love live at Countdown 1990/Oprah 1992 (either one or BOTH)
-If It’s Over live at Grammys 1992
-Vision of Love live at Tokyo Dome 1996 (completely diff than the other 2 versions listed above so it’s DEF worth checking out too)
-Forever live at Tokyo Dome 1996
-Joy to the World live at St John The Divine Cathedral 1994 (make sure to watch til the VERY end)
-Emotions live at Des O’ Connor 1992
I’d even recommend All I Want For Christmas Is You live at St John The Divine Cathedral in 1994 (which was her FIRST TIME EVER performing this song live!).
And btw a good chunk of Mariah’s ACTUAL best live performances are really poor quality footage and audio so that’s why I didn’t recommend them, so most of these are her 2nd best, but if yall would still be interested in those lmk.

Before this performance, people just thought it was a lot of studio gimmicks. This was the performance that proved she could sing live. “Unplugged” was a show that used no electric elements. It was all acoustic.
