This vid talks about how to catch Redfish in the early spring and cooler months - but it's also just a fun fishing vlog with my friend. In this vid I talk about what I look for and tactics for how to find these fish in the cooler months like late winter and early spring when they are in transition. Also, if you like reading, allow me to entertain you with some Redfish tips and written word:
    Early Spring Redfish Tips
Redfish in the Springtime - in my fishery in the Mid-Atlantic (North Carolina/VA) - are getting more and more active every day with warmer water. At the time this vid was filmed the variance in water temps from the front of the inlet we fished was almost 10 degrees. That is huge!! These reds in the spring are about as moody as a 4 year old waking up early to go to school. One day you'll catch them every cast up shallow in a creek on a shallow flat, and the next day it'll be cold and windy - and they will just be tough to catch. That's why you always want to have live bait or fresh cut bait in the boat on those cold, windy difficult days.
These reds are typically going to be in areas with the warmest water possible and also the most bait. So a food source and water temp super important. Here are clues - BIRDS! Pelicans and pretty much any bird that eats fish is what you want to pay attention to. I use my fish finder only for checking water temps and also looking at depth changes - if I pull into a tiny creek with dark muddy bottom, and it's like 4-6ft next to some deeper channel - FORGOT ABOUT IT (new york voice) - that's what I look for. Okay, I'm in the car typing this riding next to Kristi and we have been really busy fishing and filming so I am going to spend some quality time with her now. But yea, you get it - birds, bait, water temp, oyster beds, yada yada - just get up off your butt and catch some fish. Spring time redfish is legit.

Going to be in the mrtyle beach area april through june. Looking to chase some reds from shore. Was wondering where some good areas to access inshore areas. Looking for some adventure and a steelhead fisherman so just looking for some suggestions where I can wade and cover some water. Not afraid to do some walking and work to get to some good areas. Just dont know where to start. Was looking at georgetown and north mrytle beach areas. how far up stream will the reds run in brackish water? Also whats the bass fishing like on the rivers outflowing to the ocean?

I’m not sure if you’re still looking but great redfish charter is sweet tea charters with Fred Rourk. As far as inshore fishing in georgetown the ball park near the board walk has some good fishing areas. The bass also are good on the waccamaw river and black river. If you don’t care for the river a lot of local golf course ponds are loaded but you’ll get kicked out in a heart beat lol
