  • Ota Ika, a raw fish recipe best known throughout the Pacific Islands. Various islanders have their own way of making this dish but this is what I grew up eating in Tonga. My dad was always the one making Ota Ika, so I was happy to be home to taste this dish once again. A simple recipe that brings many cherished memories of growing up in Tonga. Hope you all enjoy.

In South America we have the “ceviche” that is really alike Ota Ika, but without the coconut… I'm so happy that nowadays coconut milk is actually easy to find in markets, I will definitely try this preparation… It's so fascinating how people can relate to food so similarly, being so far away. A hug from a chilean living in Argentina. :)
