    Mr. Love, the hairs stand up on my arms EVERY time I listen to this song, almost 50 years later. And if I can, I ALWAYS close my eyes while you are singing, so that I can concentrate on that Heavenly voice 100%. Thank you!

    I am thankful that I was on this earth as a child when this song came out. I absolutely fell in love with Russell Thompkin's voice after hearing this song, but truthfully, on this song, Airrion Love's voice is actually the secret sauce. Sublime if you will. Johnny Mathis with a hint of Nat "King" Cole. A great contrast of vocal textures. The Stylistics is my most favorite vocal group of all time.

    I know people are always talking g about under-rated groups, but I swear the Stylistics have to be the most under-rated great group of all time.
    I love these guys.

    I respect that Love gives credit to Russell Thomkins Jr as Russell sang lead on ALL The Stylistics hits and was the only voice you heard on the first 3 albums. Brand New was the only hit that had a co lead singer. It's a shame they had a falling out and we're probably never going to see Thompkins, Love and Murrell perform together again.

    Beautiful! My 32 son told me woman aren't needed for anything and men don't respect us. Wow.....Me, a divorced mother of 2, no respect? He said, men only need women for one thing. I blame music. Our music only focus on calling us hoes and thots- no wonder why our men have no respect for women nor themselves. I say bring back good, respectable music of my childhood like the Stylistics, like the Temptations, etc.

      Shame on your son! Music, movies, video games, it really hasn't done the younger generations any favours. I am often back in the 70's, because I can't stand life as it is now.

    At least he admitted Russell Thompkins jr was the style... And voice that MADE them successful. And Russell had fantastic voice ( and still does) .....you werent a little horse just now Airion . Your voice was off key, cracking and pitchy . Eban kept you 2 going after Russ left. But now he left. Tired of imitating another singer and his successful songs for years???? Time for him to get wings. Sing songs he writes. In his style and true voice. Go Eban!!

      I always thought Airrion Love had a beautiful voice and wished he had been co-lead in more of their songs, but agree Russel Thomkins Jr.'s voice was truly one of a kind!

      Careful how you judge. Mr. Love is old, and he was singing on the spot. Maybe your insults on Mr. Love's voice, would be better suited on a page honouring Mr. Thompkins Jr.

    He didn't tell u he didn't sing on most of those hit records..
    Tom bell didn't want them.thats why he hired other singers ,because those bums couldn't sing and can't til this day ,HOW DO I KNOW I SUNG WITH THEM FOR AT LEAST 15YRS THEY ARE THE WORST AND TOM.BELL KNEW IT..

      That is true Kenneth Thompson....airion only talks about 2 songs ( "You are everything" and " You make me fell ".) because he only sang in recording studio on those 2 songs...they were a duo lead with Russell Thompkins. Herb sang on none but the first " big Girl". Until after the first 3 albums and first 14 hits in a row that Russell recorded. Thom Bell and Linda Creed wrote the songs. He did not want Love. Murrell, Dunn and Smith to sing on recordings. That's why Smith & Dunn left. Then Raymond Johnson sang in their place. He left before Russell did leaving it a trio of Russell Airion and Murrow. They were a trio when Russ left in 2000. Russell was lead singer when he left. Raymond Johnson was with group about 14 years and is with Russell and new Stylistics for 18 years. Facts.

      @@nancywood9531 actually Smith didn't leave untill 1979 and Dunn didn't leave untill 1980, much much later. It's true what you write regarding their early studio recordings with Bell, which produced their main US hits, but the members all sang live and on later albums (including major hits in the UK Europe and Japan, and minor US hits). I sure thought they could sing pretty good!

      @@jKLa They all sang on big girl and they sounded really good on that but the way Bell wrote produced and arranged, Called for more mellow softer backing vocals and the group didn't have that.

    • @jKLa
      @jKLa 2 роки тому

      @@brodocbetty4856 yeah I agree! They did sound good. Bell could have been more flexible and used the other stylistics in some of his songs, but he wasn't. But I really don't see the justification for not including Airrion Love on more of of the Bell-Creed songs other then the two he was included on. Those songs did really well! Also, though the quality of their music gradually deteriorated during the later Hugo&Luigi years, Tompkins and Love still co-led a lot of very good work as late as 1976, along with many good Thompson's led songs. But by 1977, it was clear they had just been with H&L too long and H&L had lost some good producers/writers during that time, which was also one of growing tension between Tompkins and the other members. It was mainly Tompkins singing itself that went obviously downhill on most though not all of the songs, notably in 1977, as he just wasn't getting along well with the other members, nor feeling most of the new songs during that period. In 1979, produced by Teddy Randazzo and after James Smith had left the group, 'Love Spell' was an Album that Tompkins really put his heart into and sung beautifully on, with Love also singing on some of the songs background singing by both the other members as well as stage singers. James Smith had a rougher voice then the others (probably would have been better as a co lead rather then background harmonies) so they sounded smother but also less full with him gone. Tompkins really hoped the 'Love Spell' album would do well, but unfortunately the record company just didn't promote it and it didn't get much playtime on the radio. The stylistics hit days were over, aside from a few late minor exceptions in the 1980's and 90's.

      @@nancywood9531 Love sang on lots more songs in later years, some of which were overseas hits. Just not during the Bell-Creed years during which they were at their US peak.
