Driver 2 was probably the best and personally my favorite... Mainly because of the cities and cop behavior. I just wish I cant get my emulator to stop crashing, especially when doing the Chicago bridge glitch. However Driver 1 is probably the funnest in terms of police chases... I love getting rammed into a corner, or getting rammed so hard that I end up flying into space, falling, only to be rammed again, just to flip back onto my wheels and run away.
Driver cops some of the best, if not the best, when it comes to driving games. The more time passes, the more I yearn for a new Driver to set the bar high again. :(
One thing worth mentioning in Driver 2 is that in Take a Ride mode, you can't be chased by any more than 2 cops at a time while you can in survival mode. I suppose it was game limitations or something.
There 2 ways that I know of that u can get more cops in take a ride one is if u have a cop on you tail an u see a road block smash to cops at once an the second one is there a GameShark cheat code for it
In Driv3r and Parallel Lines, once you step out of cops' line of sight, you don't need to wait for the blue and red minimap flashes to disappear when ditching your wanted car. You just need to be out of the cops' line of sight and you can bail out of the car without waiting for the blue and red minimap flashes to end. This way, you can abandon the wanted car faster and the vehicle felony won't transfer to Tanner/TK's felony. (Won't work if you're on a bike in Parallel Lines. Oddly enough, it works on Driv3r) Also, cops in Driver Parallel Lines only perform drive-bys in the 2006 era.
Nice video! But u forgot DSF Wii, but in case anybody is wondering about that, I'll explain it: Trigger: you can only trigger them by ramming them (not the power-up) Behaviour: they will try to arrest u by being near you and if ur under 20KM/H, else they will use the PIT technology to stop u and if that fails they will ram u till ur wrecked, that is counted as busted then Erasure: after you escaped, they will no longer chase u and you will get some xp for upgrade points depending on a 3 star based felony level.
The cops got simplified in Driver SF because the cops don't play a big role in that game. They went for something different. The game is so good that I'd buy it just for the challenges. The only thing that could be better would be a Driver 1 and 2 remake with Driver SF driving mechanics.
If Driver had a movie: Driver (movie): Tom Cruise as John Tanner Driver Parallel Lines Movie: Keanu Reeves as T.K. (which of course it'll look very similar to John Wick)
10:50 huh, the swat team models from the PS2 were replaced with generic police men in the PC version. the swat guys were unique for each era with their own dialogue and models. you could use the body snatchers cheat on them, and becoming a 1978 swat member allowed you to run faster than the default running speed. anyway great vid man!
The Swat van spawning is very glitchy, including the swat pedestrian models. If you look closely at the first clip where the Van hit me, the models are actually the good ones! But in a few hours of intensive tries, I only got the Swat van to spawn twice so I kept the footage with the uncorrect models but they do spawn if you're lucky... On PS2, the Swat skin was definitely my favorite!
My only issue with Parallel lines is that the vehicle upgrades and fast travel end up trivializing the whole system. The best way to play that game is to just ignore the garage system altogether except when your resetting your felony or doing the hard versions of the circuit races.
i played parallel lines the first time one month ago, well i think respect by the driver 3 is really crap! you can't enjoy for a sec who arrive the cops: jesus cops everywhere! it's an army! later you can't avoid them or lose the tail, why? right because the traffic are so full and you bump a car every time you run at max of 60 km, yeah ok.... but the more annoying thing is... the f*king police patrols are ever faster than you! you can't miss them! you can drive a corvette with nitro boost and the cops easily follow you withour problems! seriosly?? that game have really too much errors and the worst error was be created... the only thing i saved be the storyline and the possibly of modifier the veicles better than driver 3, the rest is empty of sustance by my opinion...

And car damages, driving games,... It depends if this video is well received because it takes a lot of time to do it (especially because I got bored halfway through).
It has the most elaborate Felony system but the PC scripts are a bit buggy. It's very hard to get the SWAT to spawn unlike my memories on the PS2 version
Driver 1 gives me PTSD with how easy it is to take damage. I grew up on Driver 2 before playing 1 several years later not being able to leave the car is SO MUCH more challenging. Great video!
Even though I liked San Francisco a lot, i never understood why the cops in free roam are so weak, and the stranger part is their behavior compared to the cops inside of missions, since their AI gets buffed when you're in a mission.
Like infidel said, there is a mod on PC to buff them and make them a real challenge like in past games. But if your on console its probably better to do a glitch or play cops and robbers in multiplayer with friends
Separate and progressive felony/wanted levels for driving versus on-foot is one of those features that elevate certain games beyond the sum of their parts, and make me wish for their inclusion in newer games (like GTA V) in some manner. Mafia 2 has a similar deal. You have four wanted levels (ticket, arrest, lethal force, automatic weapons) that can be applied either to the character or the car, similar to how Driv3r and D:PL did. A neat element is that evading the police when at low enough wanted levels doesn't apply a persistent warrant, meaning police won't be suspicious or chase/attack on sight.
Hey vortex I love your channel and your episodes are interesting and you can see you put a lot of work into them but I would like to ask you if you could do a similar episode only with npc logic best regards bye
one thing not many people know about is in driver 1 and 2 if u get right behind a cop and honk the horn enough ur get a sliver of a felony but the cops wont give chase
cops come to investigate when traffic offense + crime commited, triggered by passing or sensitive touch, arrested by gunpoint as very less felony, game on as felony bar filled, cops ramming you with great effectiveness, cops on foot endless spawning, taking advantages of the guns to be more than just aesthetic, using shotguns as situation demands, roadblocks with armed cops has a real threat, possible little felony erasure while in vehicle, felony cleared when exit a vehicle, enter a safehouse without chased & felony all cleared. Driv3r is my favorite
Excellent video! It´s a shame that Driver: SF cops don´t get alerted as in the previous games. I enjoyed PL a lot more than the originals, but I think Driver 2 is my favorite.
Did you know there are unused cop voices in driver 2 referencing to the suspect being armed and unused megaphone quotes referencing to all eits from the freeways being blocked as well as vehicle checks and so on there are even voices for the foot cops at roadblocks and they are also unused
Running away from cops is more fun in the driver 2 than the current GTA. I think it’s becasis the cops stay on your tail so it feels like you are running away from the same cars as opposed to de spawning and re spawning in a new cop. Making the cops crash into cars is always fun
In driv3r, there are 3 locations, Miami, nice and Turkey. In France nice, the cops don't perform pit a manoeuvre, but in Miami they do, this is because in USA cop can pit manoeuvre due to thier not expensive cop cars. But in nice, they are careful and do not pit manoeuvre, because they are careful of their cars. They only follow you until you stop.
Also for some reason if you qre in a chase, in reverse for some reason, they pit manoeuvre you and use the same tactics as Miami cops, thiaight be due to a glitch.
Cop cars also have better stats. When watching them from the replay camera and watching from their point of view, they accelerate much quicker than you and their cars have more weight to them. Making them being able to push you around even at low speed
But the low level felony cop behaviour in Driver 1 is the same as in 2- Single cop car, does not drive at flat out speed, easily lost on high speed straights. At low level the cops don't do the boost-ram on you in both D1 and D2. Man those on foot cops absolutely ruined the cop chases in D3...
