This song should make you cry, means you have a heart, makes you think because you care. Anyone trying to make us forget about things like this that actually happened should be damned.
I'm 21 now, I could never imagine the fear of being in the trenches as some of the men older, younger, and the same age as me were feeling, not knowing one day to the next when or if it would be their last
With families back home. I'll never understand the First World War! I think, maybe, it used to be a line of soldiers with rifles. They would fight it out, a bit like an international gun fight? WW1 changed all that. The second is clearer. It was a fight for freedom. I think Britain was right to declare war and look what happened.
I tear up as I watch this heart wrenching video on New Years Eve 2020. It is especially poignant as the US is a country divided, Excellent performance by the exquisite voices of Celtic Thunder. And kudos to whoever put this video together. Fine editing of the films, "Joyeux Noel" and "War Horse," Each scene perfectly fits the words to the song.
Most beautiful musical video clip ever made .as Indian we have fought our own brothers at border , not just us all nations who had to fought their brothers , can relate to the inner meaning of this song
There is no true reason for men to fight besides greed and envy. Pride sparks the war, and wrath sustains it. Greed makes the command keep it going, envy for what the other side has. Let those who died sleep in heavenly peace and rest finally
Every year at Christmas in my family there’s a tradition that I sing this song. Every time I do it, it brings me tears. I had an ancestor who was in the trenches when this historic and momentous occasion occurred
In 1915 there was some places they done it again. But way less than 1914. English and germans should never ever put weapons toward each other again. We respect you guys and your country very much. (From germany)

1915 on Christmas Day On the western front the guns all died away And lying in the mud on bags of sand We heard a German sing from no man's land He had tenor voice so pure and true The words were strange but every note we knew Soaring or the the living dead and dammed The German sang of peace from no man's land They left their trenches and we left ours Beneath tin hats smiles bloomed like wild flowers With photos, cigarettes, and pots of wine We bult a soldier's truce on the front line Their singer was a lad of 21 We begged another song before the dawn And sitting in the mud and blood and fear He sang again the song all longed to hear Silent night, no cannons roar A king is born of peace for evermore All's calm, all's bright All brothers hand in hand In 19 and 15 in no man's land And in the morning all the guns boomed in the rain And we killed them and they killed us again At night they charged we fought them hand to hand And I killed the boy that sang in no man's land Silent night no cannons roar A king is born of peace for evermore All's calm, all's bright All brothers hand in hand And that young soldier sings And the song of peace still rings Though the captains and all the kings Built no man's land
It was the first "modern" war and the last in which ordinary soldiers, pilots and junior officers on all sides behaved in a chivalrous way☝️ 😘. Honor memory to those who died for the stupidity and bad decisions of the generals😔. Marry Christmas to all veterans👍🏻, keep we'll meet someday☝️👍🏻
It was tough, loosing friends, comrades seeing your best friend blown up ,i suffer from ptsd, that really happed they stopped on Christmas day,the guns went slient, but the high ups heard about it and ordered the fighting to continue, that would of stopped the war and given peace ,so had to continue to kill who were just talking to,there will never be peace on this earth…..how do i know(take a guess)
Wonderful song and video but the truce was 1914, The generals didn't want there men to become friends with the opposite side so they never let it happen again.
Got 9 lives, survived the war. As well as the soldier who held him, and who adopted him afterwards. One of his Great-great-grand-sons became Streetcat Bob in recent times. Not all stories have happy endings, so I make one. Love this song and the video.
i hope that feminist look at this and thinks about how meny men died in 4 years war and be thankfull that so meny men died so that we can a litle live in peace
Em... Has the second Christmas truce (1915) been refuted by historians? Please feel free to prove me wrong, but it seems that recent research has rather supported the historicity of the 1915 truce, mostly in reference to Robert W.J Keating's diary. www.telegraph.co.uk/history/world-war-one/12058701/The-forgotten-Christmas-truce-the-British-tried-to-suppress.html www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-35120354

No one will ever hate war as much as though who have lived it.
so true ...................respect
😔💔
Facts such facts your never the same afterwards (coming from a veteran)
I love this song by Celtic Thunder. George, we miss you!😢🫶
No matter how often I listen to this song, I cry a much as I did when I first heard it.
And we're in the same club. Have a very Merry Christmas.
This song should make you cry, means you have a heart, makes you think because you care. Anyone trying to make us forget about things like this that actually happened should be damned.
“Only the dead have seen the end of war.”
― Plato
"and i killed the boy that sang in no man's land""... hearing that did something to my heart.... :-/
I choke up every. Time. I. Hear . This. Song. So why do I keep listening to it 25 times every Christmas season?? I love it!!
This is fantastic and so sad, it makes one wonder about "WARS" between mankind.

The UK is divided too! It's like a terrible entrenched polarisation.
This was awesome. So emotional. Love big George and his boys. Heartfelt for those who fought in those terrible conditions. R.I.P. ALL OF YOU
At night they charged, we fought them hand to hand...
...and there follows the single most cutting line of any song ever written.
this was the very first song i saw and heard celtic thunder sing 9 years ago
so touching watching and listening to this song, each time I listened my eyes gets teary
I cried during this.
Me too
A "fan-made" video!! Excellent work. Couldn't have been done better. I love this.
TY Celtic Thunder for the music of this song. You do it best! God Bless You All!!!
I was scrolling to see if anyone knew who was singing
Most beautiful musical video clip ever made .as Indian we have fought our own brothers at border , not just us all nations who had to fought their brothers , can relate to the inner meaning of this song
Have posted the link to this on the Wiltshire OPC Website - sad but poignant and I love the film snips brought together
Thank you for posting this. God bless us all.
The video really adds more Oomph to the heart strings. 😢
WHY IS THIS NOT MORE POPULAR??
Because it shows the human heart in all its sides. The humanity and the dark ugliness.
Love this, Thank you. Sad, think of George of Celtic Thunder, who left his earth..
I'm crying so hard! ! This makes us question what's the point in men fighting men
Politicians and the Rich wanting to money..
There is no true reason for men to fight besides greed and envy. Pride sparks the war, and wrath sustains it. Greed makes the command keep it going, envy for what the other side has. Let those who died sleep in heavenly peace and rest finally
Usually? There isn't one. Sometimes, there is. It's a matter of sussing the just wars from the unjust ones.
Wow. I have no words. Thank you.

Bloody hell that's beautiful. Merry Christmas to you all.
This song is so hauntingly beautiful. Stirs up the emotions.
I teared up when I saw the British clapping for the German singer
Love this song and the movie was really a great movie .
What was the name of the movie?

There is something in my eyes...
Dust
It's called being Human. Along with showing Compassion of the loss of life on both side. Because the Rich and Powerful wanted to make money.
This is beautiful.
This happened in 1914 but I still love the song. And the true story.
History says this happened in 1914. But the writer of the song wrote it as 1915. Either way, this is a true story

@@a.d.1563 Yeah, the leaders on both sides supposedly threatened the soldiers so that it didn't happen again

In 1915 there was peace in areas for about a day which is why they are fighting the day after

Very moving song.
great performance guys
When I head this music I was full of thanks but when I saw this video I kind of cried
Heart breaking
I wonder...could this happen today. Would the powers allow the cannon fodder join together in feast, song and game for even a single moment.
they wont let us visit family now during the pandemic...no
This broke my heart.
This was amazing
F. G. A. U. Lest we forget
Love this song x
Thank you.
Thank you!
Were actually gonna sing this in my school
1915 on Christmas Day
On the western front the guns all died away
And lying in the mud on bags of sand
We heard a German sing from no man's land
He had tenor voice so pure and true
The words were strange but every note we knew
Soaring or the the living dead and dammed
The German sang of peace from no man's land
They left their trenches and we left ours
Beneath tin hats smiles bloomed like wild flowers
With photos, cigarettes, and pots of wine
We bult a soldier's truce on the front line
Their singer was a lad of 21
We begged another song before the dawn
And sitting in the mud and blood and fear
He sang again the song all longed to hear
Silent night, no cannons roar
A king is born of peace for evermore
All's calm, all's bright
All brothers hand in hand
In 19 and 15 in no man's land
And in the morning all the guns boomed in the rain
And we killed them and they killed us again
At night they charged we fought them hand to hand
And I killed the boy that sang in no man's land
Silent night no cannons roar
A king is born of peace for evermore
All's calm, all's bright
All brothers hand in hand
And that young soldier sings
And the song of peace still rings
Though the captains and all the kings
Built no man's land
Beautiful
Thank you
Powerful X !
I wonder what would happen if all our boys refused to be soldiers,,,, what a wonderful thought
As long as ‘their’ boys refused to be soldiers, too…
Brothers in arms RIP
The saddest fact is the Christmas Munity almost succeed, refusal to fight...we almost stopped most of the future wars

what hardship they went through hope these song change Terra and beast boy

The worst part is we need these terrible stories from the past to create that emotional beautiful wonderful song today.

they wont, theyll be too busy doing a gender impact study on the issue and be too horrified about how many french girls are getting laid
1914! not 1915!
What's the significance of the woman in the German trench? Was that an historical fact? Who was she?
The Christmas truce was in 1914 not 1915 and yes ima nerd

and a awful lot of irish men died for a lie.
Many innocent lives gone because of some greedy people
Americans didn't enter until 1917. also it was Christmas 1914.
It was both years and American did not declare war till 1917 but there where still volunteers
Right 😊
