If you have trouble smoothly closing your tailgate because the tailgate is rubbing against the last 2 inches of the gasket on each side …I had the same problem,,, I took a razor and shaved off enough off the gasket to allow smooth closure of the tailgate(warning: this is DIY only. Not from manufacturer…) but if you can close tailgate smoothly without modification…all the better..
Hi I’ve had my smart cap since it became available to 21 f150’s(back in 2021) I just received my wiring harness the other day. I don’t have that gray wiring connection that the pig tail is supposed to connect to near the drivers feet. There’s is a recess for it, but it’s not present. Any advice?

Unfortunately, this wiring setup is necssary on the newer F150. Not all trucks have this requirement. We do have a network of North American dealers that are very experienced with these types of installations.

I was planning to tackle it this week and wanted to make sure I have the correct part for the Lightning. Thanks!
I just installed one on my 2019 f250 and there are not any instructions on where to plug the wiring harness into. There is not a plug under the drivers side that works. Other than not being legal by having a blocked brake light I like it so far.

If you did a self-install, make sure and check steps 68-73 (pg 33-34) of the pdf installation guide. Thanks for your feedback. As for "most expensive", we can understand how you may have some initial apprehension regarding price. While at first glance you may think we are quite a bit more expensive, the moment you price out a fiberglass cap with a similar feature-set to the SmartCap, you’ll find the price difference is much lower than it appears. Our standard features include: stainless steel 5-piece modular construction, capable of carrying up to 770 lbs static & 330 lbs dynamic, large Gullwing side doors with hidden hinges, keyed-alike locks and flush-mounted sliding vent windows, a Positive Pressure Air Vent, Cargo Light Portal Window, integrated Roof Rails, and the ability to remove it (in as little as 15 minutes) if you want. All of these things come standard with a SmartCap. We hope you’ll give us another look. We’re pretty sure you won’t be disappointed.
4.4 FT LBS of torque..... That torque wrench that big watch installer man is using isn't torquing lower than 5 LBS of torque.... the installation directions that you have online specify 3.7 FT LBS... so which is it.... 3.7, 4.4 or 5 LBS or torque? Whatever feels natural? Would also love for someone to point me in the direction of a torque wrench that's capable of hitting a 3.7 spec. It's also hilarious how flowy and effortless this video makes this install appear.

Get a torque wrench in inch-pounds, then it'll be multiples of 12, for example if you need to hit a target of 4 pounds it would be 48 inch-pounds on the wrench.
Are you referring to the Rear Door, or the side Gullwing Doors? And is there a specific truck model you would like to know about (year/make/model & bed length)?

The rear door opening for you rig/SmartCap is 445m (appx 17.5 inches). This is just the door and obviously doesn't include the tailgate height. Hope that gives you the info you were seeking.

This is an awesome set up until the very end.... running wires etc. You lost me there. Is there a non-wiring version?

Yes, it has the same bed configuration as the other '21+ F150 models.

Most expensive and most difficult, worry about it will effect the pickups warranty, also not every one is a engineer and mechanic.

Any idea on when the EvoC will ship to the states? Have had one on order since May.
Made in Texas now. Mine took 4 months, but 3 months was waiting for the production to start in the U.S. So hopefully you get yours soon.
We definitely have EVOc's coming. If you placed a backorder with a dealer, they should be able to give you a delivery estimate.
