I'm team ladybugs and as an aphid hater, this video brought me joy, please feel free to do more aphid experiments (preferably with chances of things going horribly wrong for the aphids).
I grow plants in pots on balcony, so it's not a big garden and I always get those pests infecting my plants, they quickly increase their number and that's when the ants come in and harvest them (if no mistake, I also had green aphid the ants were milking and not eating).
Problem is the ants protect the aphid against the ladybugs so I end up having to fight ants with other means and bring in a ladybug larvae or two for them to eat the aphid (as the adult ladybugs will just fly away and the larvae couldn't).

I recommend keeping big headed ants(genus pheidole generally) because they are very active, grow fast, have majors, and can swarm things or carpenter ants (genus camponotus) because they are big and easy to watch, but their colonies grow slow. Both are really fun to keep in my opinion though

Myrmecophilous aphids are usually dark, the ones you caught are green and not related to ants lol.

I check them pretty good! There are a lot of black garden ant colonies in my garden that eat flies naturaly. Als I only take flies that have a natural flight pattern. Flies that have come in contact with insecticides fly weird. I also already had some feeder insects that carried parasites so I don't trust those completely either. So the ants should be fine 😁
